Striped Background

Hello crafters!  We are working with the Striped Weaving die in today's video offering, but you don't always need to weave a background to use it.  Here is another lovely look that can be achieved with this versatile die.

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  10. HI SUE
FABULOUS CARD AND I WAS HEADING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS YOU WITH THE STRIPED WEAVING DIE. I HAVE USED IT AS A STENCIL FOR JAIL BARS ON A CARD (FATHERS DAY CARD WITH DAD BEHIND BARS), AND HAD USED STICKY BACK FOAM TO MAKE A STAMP WITH IT. BUT DIDNT THINK OF THE ICED SNOW. I SURE WILL BE TRYING IT. IT LOOKS SO GOOD WITH NOT A BOW OR FLOWER IN SIGHT. GREAT JOB.

  45. Good morning Sue & to all the lovely Wilsonettes

Firstly I would like to say what a fabulous idea to use the weaving dies as strips Sue & as always the Noble die sets the card of beautifully, I look at this gorgeous card & imagine it with floral & frond elements but for a guy it is perfect as it is.

I was up at 5am this morning so have taken advantage of this time to read through the comments from the last couple of days....I think everything caught up on me yesterday, what with Lauren & heatstroke leaving me feeling fatigued, I only work part time with kiddies but I took the day off to completely stay out of the sun (yes we did have some strong sunshine along with the rain) & try to recuperate...all through the day I dozed on & off & must say, rather ashamedly, that I did absolutely nothing except care for my gorgeous doggies needs. Then I crept off to bed early & slept some more...what a lazy mare...lol...I’m not used to it.

Anyways lovely Wilsonettes when reading back over the comments I was so sincerely moved by the lovely messages from you..Sam S; Karen M; Patwyn; Sandra; ‘P’ in Wales; Alimecca; Theresa; Heather T; Lorraine E; Meg; Cheryl B; Maureen K; Fluffy Cat; Lynda’s Craft’s; Magpie; Barbara; Maria A; Wheely Bad & Deb Curtis x x x (hope I haven’t missed anyone out x x x)

You all deserve an extra special mention & of course there are hugs & kisses winging their way to you from Lauren, with special Paw Hugs & kisses to Billy x x x. I passed all your hugs etc onto to Lauren & I must have had a thousand kisses in return... I have passed them on but I’ll keep a few for myself if that’s okay...lol...

Ps Hannah, her companion, got in the act naturally & passed on a few kisses aswel...

I was very, very moved and emotionally touched (yes you guessed it many a tear rolled down along the way of reading) by all your very kind thoughts & beautiful kind words, I wish I had seen them all on Sunday & thanked you yesterday so please do not think me rude...

I will keep you posted about Lauren, but at the moment the vet recommended Denamarin (& to buy it cheaper online) which won’t cure her condition but it will help as she also has arthritis in her back legs & has the occasional 3 day course of Onsior when she is suffering more due to changes in weather.

Thank you again lovely ladies (((((hugs))))) to you & especially to those who need an extra hug or two...(((((coming your way))))) & not forgetting your beautiful pets (((((hugs))))) Love Beth B x x x

    Hi Sue,
completely different look to yesterday's card but every bit as beautiful. A winner in every sense, for both sexes. And for the males I would use microbeads instead of glitter (glitter definitely reserved for the "sisters").
At first glance the weaving dies are a bit nondescript but their versatility is huge.

And the Nobles, as I keep saying, are stunners.

  89. Good morning Sue,

What a great card to choose for a demo, I will really enjoy watching this gem later. On first inspection, from a distance, this card looks quite simple and straightforward. However, this is so far from the truth, it is simply sensational and I can only imagine how spectacular it must be in real life . I am quietly desperate to own the weaving dies to make a crude attempt at something similar to your stunning masterpieces-I am hoping that they may be part of your next shows on C and C which I hope are coming soon, it seems like ages since our last Suefest!
No proper crafting for me today, I have what I call my monthly MoT at my GP surgery-apart from my usual seizures I seem to be pretty stable at the moment so hopefully I will scrape a pass this time. I'll try and squeeze in a little cross stitching later though- I am attempting one of my two departed pussies Gizmo and Dante for my Mums birthday but it is colossal and I am fast running out of time, it has 47 different threads and is my most intricate creation to date but hey, I love a challenge!
Sending love and hugs to all the marvellous Wilsonettes, particularly those who are needing special mentionxxxxxx

  111. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
I like how you have a glitter strip running through between the normal strips making it look more like a background paper than it being a die cut. This a lovely "simple" looking card that has pizzazz without it being right in your face so brilliant for our quieter flowers that are not big on the see me look or even to give to the hard to please ones that satisfies our urges for prettiness but their no fluff look. Thank you Sue for a great card that could be for some of the men that i have to make cards for to thank them for all they have done for Rory. I am trying to make cards that correspond with either the classes that the teachers teach or activities that they do with the children, but some are just impossible to coordinate with anything so this will make a lovely card for the ones that i am just brain dead thinking about.
It's been a lovely day here at the Ochil's with a beautiful colour of blue adorning our skyline so i hope that where ever you are today you are having a lovely day even if the weather is not behaving itself. I am back to trying to make these male cards so i will wish you all well and leave you with crafty hugs to keep you company.
    Love and crafty hugs

The sun is finally shining here, hooray. Will watch the video as a treat after doing some jobs, what better way to relax! This is deceptively simple looking but stunning and would make a great guys card. Love the stripes alternating from pierced to glitter, what a great idea. I'm building a long list of dies to give out for my birthday-with-a-nought-on-it-wish-list later in the year. Nobles are high up in the ranking.

  116. Hi Sue,
Lovely card and great use of the weaving die. Personally, I haven't got any of today's dies but I can still look and admire.
Beth hope you're feeling better and pleased to hear that Lauren is a bit better too. When our border collie had arthritis we used to give her chondroitin - once sent for some proper doggie stuff which was so expensive, but then someone told us to give her the human stuff - far cheaper and it really worked for her. What with that and the smoked salmon she got every day she did really well. When I had to have her put down ( at age 24!) the vet came to the house and said " What a beautiful coat she has!" She nearly choked when I told her it was the smoked salmon!!. Well the bathroom has been started today but unfortunately the Plummer can't come now until Friday, so have to use downstairs loo. At least he left us with the bath and shower so we can get washed! Sick of the mess already and the poor cat is having a nervous breakdown I think!
Finally have some sun this afternoon - what a difference it makes - just hope it stays for a while.
Love and hugs to all, Alison xxxx

  117. Hi Sue, a most attractive card and the de-bossed die in silver is gorgeous. Using the weaving day in this way is inspired. Today's video kept pixelating for me but luckily not in the important places.

Extra pats and cuddles for all our poorly pets especially Cully, Lauren & now Monty. My cats would send meows and purrs but they are too self-centred to think mere dogs would appreciate them properly lol :D

  137. A very spectacular card Sue! When you say to emboss the card then cut it doesn't the embossing get flattened or do the cutting dies hold the rollers away enough??

  138. Hi Sue

What a brilliant idea, I've lost count of all the ideas you had for this die (and good idea of prison bars from one of the Wilsonettes too!). A simple looking (I say looking as simple cards can take a lot of effort too) card that's very pretty.

Late today, AWOL yesterday... I will try to be better with my time! Periods of being active requires rest after and I just run out of day- Had to check in before bed though x

Beth I hope Lauren is ok. Billy is happy to give and take as many cuddles, kisses and waggy tails as he can with either doggy or person. He is very cuddly for a big dog though at the minute he's on his bed, which he dragged across the room to be close to me- or to block me from leaving the room as he does this every night after his bedtime wander around the garden. We both hope Cully is ok Lynne, sending wags, woofs and paw hugs to her and to Megs Monty (I have a soft spot for poodles). Frances, I laughed a lot at your comment about the cats, I do agree with the saying "cats have staff" as they often have that air of being the superior race in the room! I noticed how much cheaper it is to get pet medicines online, even with a prescription charge. We saved nearly £40 on the cost of 6 months supply of Billys anti flea/tick/ lungworm treatment buying online as opposed to getting it from the vet! We hope all the furry friends are doing well x

Time for sleeps, hope everyone has some sunshine tomorrow (the east was hidden under a blanket of cloud today), hugs to you all with lots extra on the bench if they're needed.

    T x

I love the way you've used the weaving dies for 'not weaving', lol!!
This card is absolutely gorgeous. Once again you show us how versatile your dies are. You are brilliant.
My body clock is really not behaving hence the time of this comment. If I wait a little while I'll be early for Wednesday's card. {From one extreme to another}!
Sending love to everyone and hugs to everyone who is not in fine fettle or feeling under the weather.
