Good Sunday morning all! A soft milled lavender colour and white for today's offering. I selected the Caribbean background to use for my card and cut it out of coconut white card. I left a wide border around it and pierced the edges of it with my piercing ruler and pokey tool. I added some mounting foam to the back to raise it up over a piece of card from my stash (similar in colour to Milled Lavender ink) I used the ovals from the centre and the oval from the Ornate Pierced Rectangle to cut a frame out of the same card. I raised it over the centre of my background. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of coconut white card then lightly inked around it with Milled Lavender Distress ink. I dried it well with a heat tool before covering it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet. I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Micro beads. I centred it in the middle of the oval and glued it into place. I cut and made a single flower from the Camellia complete petal die set and seated it on the edge of the frame. I finished the card with a white mat that I added Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots to in order to frame it. I followed that with a thin mat of matching Milled Lavender coloured card and a final white mat. The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 3/4" in size.

Hello Sue & Wilsonettes
ReplyDeleteI have had a quick look at your as ever gorgeous cards Sue but I would like to extend my sincere apologies to you & to dear Wilsonette friends, for not writing any comments & for not yet reading through your comments for the past week & I certainly didn’t think it was fair of me, as I have not been able to comment, to place any comment yesterday before the comment winners were announced today.
As you are aware (maybe) I last wrote before I received the test results for my Border Collie Lauren & I was also away to do some gardening...this I did but on Tuesday evening, Wednesday & Thursday I became poorly after suffering a bout of Heatstroke (didn’t help when I was gardening & also outdoors daily with the children I work with).
Also, sadly the news of Laurens tests were not so good, they showed up problems with her liver & kidney/s so she had to have a 12-15 hour starvation blood re test, just in case the machine was wrong, but this showed up the same results as before...when the vet phoned back yesterday to give me the news he said they also want to test a wee sample to check the concentration, protein & other high levels & this has to be repeated every fortnight to keep an eye on how her kidneys are working...watch this space when I have to try & pop a tray underneath her when she wees...& as they could not draw any blood from her leg they have to get it from her neck & I really feel for Lauren as they have to repeat this every month so long as she doesn’t deteriorate any further.
We have fed our girls on Lily’s kitchen for quite a while now, it is purely natural, smells yummy & they love it but I have had too many family, dear friends and pet deaths this last year to want to lose another loved member of our family...I saw Lauren born, held her in my hands within a short time of birth to stimulate her & that is why I could not write any comments because I could not type anything on the keyboard through the tears...sorry x
We suspected something wasn’t quite right which is why we wanted to have her yearly senior checks done earlier this year. We were going to have a little holiday with our dogs (which they love) in Cornwall, where I grew up, when I’m on hols from work but have decided that perhaps for Laurens sake it would be better not to put her through the long journey & we would certainly not leave her with dog sitters no matter how lovely they are, not fair on Lauren or dog sitters & we would miss the girls too much.
So folks, as much as I had missed you all this is the reason why I have not made any comments of late...sorry, sorry sorry...but my heart just hasn’t been in anything since this news, I have gone through the motions of daily life but that’s about it.
Congratulations to the winner of Wednesdays card & to winners of the comment games our generous Sue has sure made some very, very happy winner/s with beaming smiles...so congratulations to you all...I’m so, so pleased for you.
For those of you who are feeling on top of the world with some sort of now or recent celebration...I send my sincerest congratulations...but for those of you who are sad or in need of some TLC I send you sincere (((((hugs)))) and smiles & hope that you are better soon...
Take care to you Sue, your family & to my special friends (you know who you are x x x) & to all lovely Wilsonettes... Love from Beth x x x
Ps Sue I have glanced quickly at your absolutely gorgeous cards but I will look at them & videos more closely later on x x x

ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, love that soft lavender and the depth and patterns are so pretty
ReplyDeleteLovely card Sue, I really like the idea of using the background die as a raised front. Thank you. Xx
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sue & friends,
ReplyDeleteSue I love today's card, I hold my hands up to having another favourite and that is the Carribean Backrground die, it has to be one of your very best designs Sue, it gives the effect of more than one die so you can make a card look multi dimensional with just one die, I think it's that centre oval that makes it for me, I recently did a Pearl anniversary card using this die. I put tiny pearls all around that centre element and it looked so effective and was very well received, thankfully! Today's card is just beautiful, thank you for the inspiration xx
Cameeli, good to see you popping in my lovely, what news on your craft room? Hugs xxx
BETH, bless you, what a week you have had, heatstroke can be very uncomfortable, I hope you are on the mend, I am so sorry to hear such worrying news about Lauren, waiting round for test results can drive you sick with worry, I have to say trying to get a wee sample from a dog must be a logistical nightmare! Atleast with having the monthly blood tests they can act swiftly should anything change, you clearly gave a special bond with Lauren which must make this even harder, we recently had a scare with one of our kittens, I was as bad as with worry as I am with the children, but in my opinion our pets are our family, sending healing hugs for you and Lauren xxxxxx
NORAH, Congratulations on your Win Nanny MacPhee, what a week of prizes and surprises you have had, so pleased for you! Hugs xxx
Congratulations to the other winners too, enjoy your prizes xxx
Janet, I hope you find some great bargains at the Local Brocante, remember you need teacups for candles, glass dishes to alter, just to gett you started, I will call in to the cafe later to read all about it, have a great day! xxxx
Well I am off to supervise Sophie & Lucy making Breakfast in Bed for Paul's Father's Day treat, I wonder if they'll wash up too?????!!!!
Enjoy your day, Crafty hugs to all of you,

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteTruly lovely card today with a beautiful muted colour palette. Congratulations to all of the lucky winners especially our own Nanny McPhee! Hope you all enjoy your prizes.
Beth, I'm so sorry to hear that poor Lauren's test results weren't good. You must be worried sick. I know how hard it is to try to get a sample from an animal as well - we had to do it once with the cat! We got some special granules from the vet to put in th litter tray if I remember correctly. You are also right in saying that they are part of the family. We don't have children so Scamp is my " little baby" even though she is now 13 and by comparison the eldest in the house!!! It is always stressing to see them poorly as they can't tell you what's wrong. I do hope that there is something that the vet can do and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you are over your heatstroke as well - definitely not nice. You should be in Durham because you certainly wouldn't have heatstroke here - frostbite maybe! At least the sun is shining t the moment - it hasn't made much of an appearance lately! Take care x
Sending love and hugs to everyone on this lovely blog - have a good day, love Alison xx
Stunning card-just beautiful.

Love this card, Sue, so ornate and the eye drawn in like looking up into the ceiling of a room in a stately house. Beautiful.

Lovely muted colours to start the day.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue
ReplyDeleteThis card is absolutely delightful. The Caribbean Background has been at the top of my list for a while now. Exactly a month to my birthday so fingers crossed.
I am so in awe of you Sue. Your talent just knows no bounds. Not quite sure when you are next on Create and Craft but today is one day nearer to your appearance than yesterday! Can't wait x
Been missing in action for the last couple of days. This is due to having sausages for tea on Thursday that were not gluten free. This is not advisable when one has Coeliac disease! The after effects were not pretty but I will spare you the details. The aftermath of this 'draining' experience was that my CFS decided to kick in again so was absolutely fit for nothing. Sort of back on track but my body is on a go slow whilst my mind is racing ahead with a list of everything that needs to be done.
Have not had a chance to go back and read everyone's comments but hoping to do so over the next few days.
Happy Father's Day one and all. Hope everyone has a lovely day whatever you are doing and for those of you who are not as bright eyed and bushy tailed as you'd wish to be - hang in there x
Much love to all

Good morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteIt is rather dull and overcast in Stirling today, unlike your little gem which has brightened up my morning no end. I feel a bit groggy today and I didn't even have the pleasure of a gin or two to get this hangover head!:-) I'm meant to be visiting my brother in beautiful Aberfoyle, the gateway to the Highlands, later so I'd better get a jog on I suppose.
There's much to love about today's card, that shade of lavender is to die for, and who can resist a little micro beading once in a while.
Con grats to all the weekly comment winners, enjoy your generous gift from the lovely lady herself, it will bring you oodles of fun I am sure.
So sorry to hear about your dreadful week Beth, I haven't responded to anyone directly before but your story touched me. I lost my beloved old man Gizmo a year ago last week and I know the pain of seeing a loved member of your family suffer. He was 17 which is a good age I know but that can make it even harder letting go- I have no children so my cats are my babies and I know that the battery of tests and uncertainty are really difficult to cope with. We had to get samples from Gizzy too and that was a challenge in itself, at least we had granules to put in his litter tray though. My thoughts are with you and Lauren at this time and I hope the outcome is positive for you, try not to let your anxiety cloud the time you have left together, hard though it may be.xxxxxxx
Love and crafty hugs,

Lovely! Puts me in mind of days gone by, with doilies and china tea cups. Such a soft colour like it had been kept secret in a draw tied with ribbon. xxxx
ReplyDeleteHello Sue and all.

Congratulations Nanny McPhee and the lucky comment winners. You will be sure to treasure your gifts.
Oh my goodness Beth, no wonder I haven't seen you in the comments list. (((((HUGS)))) to you and a very special large one for Lauren. Although I do not have pets any longer now all my nestlings have flown away to their own homes, I can understand how much a beloved animally can become one of the family. I sincerely hope she gets sorted out with the vet.
Yvonne, little flower, I hope your illness improves with R&R. Take care.

Beautiful card Sue, it has that elegant look about it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the lucky comment winners!!!!
BETH I understand how upset you have been over Lauren as like you my dog is my baby and you never stop worrying about them. My Bichon Ben is coming up 13 in August and so far only has slight arthritis in his hind legs. I feed Ben on Accana dog food from Canada and like yours it is all natural ingredients. I have recently cancelled his pet insurance as it went up to £51 a month for only a years treatment per condition and as I have claimed for arthritis I am no longer covered for that. As soon as they reach 9/10 the insurance jumps up even if you have not claimed before.
I hope they can treat Lauren as there is so much they can do nowadays and let you have a few more years with her.
Stunning card Sue. Love the muted colour with the bright white.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the comment winners. Needless to say love the dies!

ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteOh Sue thank you so very very much for finishing off such traumatic, exciting and dramatic week I think I have ever experienced with such a wonderful finale, I am so so grateful for your kindness and generous spirit.
To all the winners this week I wish you happiness with your prize that you receive just as I know the happiness and memories that it will come with for me but without the beautiful person that runs this blog none of this would be possible.
Yeeeh, I can do this card today because I actually have the dies to bring out its beauty in real life at home. This is a beautiful card in a beautiful colour scheme and one that could be translated for many different reasons and occasions. With my beloved son being his unique self I have numerous cards to make at this time of the year and more so the fact that he is leaving school WiTh Rory one card can never be enough, it has to be one for this teacher, school assistant, secretaries, dinner lady to name a few including his taxi drivers and escort so I am still working my way through the massive list and all the time they all have to be different and special. Gee, he know how to pile on the pressure as he has my skills hyped up to the sky with them all in "my mum can do that and make all this and more and she could teach you how to as well." Come on, give me a break son, and I still need gifts for all the male teachers that have proved such a good influence and friend to him over the years. He is just one of these ladies that you naturally fall for as he has always had that cheek and charm and that look that makes people see his viewpoint. I shall be going through your back catalogue Sue of wonders to try and make some beauties up that my boy can hand over with pride to his school. Thank you Sue for all the wonderful things that you have gave us as you are a continuing source and font of fantastic knowledge.
Found out how much knitting I have done this past while when I had to sew up and put buttons and ribbons on but that's it all washed today and hung out on the rope to dry. It's quite strange seeing tiny knits hanging on my ropes as it has been a lot of years since that happened. I am on my third shawl for my friend whose oldest is expecting her first child and I need to make all the things for her that I made for her sister so that there is no favouritism so the needles are still going.
Semnding crafty hugs and love to you all

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteStunning, elegant, just pure class. I love your background dies and this is a need as it's one I don't have yet! It's just so pretty and would suit a variety of styles, colours and uses. I love the card.
Congratulations to all the winners- especially Norah "Nanny" McPhee, I hope that wasn't just a wee bit too much excitement for one week!
Beth, I hope you recover quickly as heatstroke is no fun at all, Billy sends paw hugs, wags and woof to Lauren. I'd do damn near anything for Billy. He is my fur baby (Big baby!) and I as well as many others understand how your feeling right now. Hugs to both of you xxx
Yvonne, I know people with coeliac disease so I appreciate how food is akin to walking a tightrope at times. Fatigue is horrible so I wish you a speedy return to normal xxx
Thanks Maria, Hugs xxx
Been awake today if not quite lively. Mr W was back from his respite, caught zero fish but I could see he was much more relaxed. At the minute it's more respite from work than respite from me as he reckons looking after me is less stress even with this latest round of hospital/ scans etc! Don't know if that's a good or bad thing lol. Billy so happy to see him too. Mr W needed an early night as the sun being up at before 4 am meant he did not get a lot of sleep, not bad for me as with him in bed and Billy sound asleep I get to watch more of the Womens World cup and be on my laptop catching up with 3 weeks worth of checking this and that. iggest issue today is heat and remembering to drink enough, it is warm so stay hydrated everyone ;-)
Wishing everyone a lovely new week, happy crafting and lots of hugs xxx
