Hello crafters. First off, I have to say that this card is one of those that really needs to be seen in person to appreciate. The Faux Mother of Pearl Caught in Crystal background is really pretty, but you just can't seem to capture it in a picture unfortunately (well, at least I can't!) First I embossed the background using the Leafy Quad embossing folder for texture. For the focal element, I used a piece of acetate and swirled Cosmic Lacquer all over it. I dusted it with pearlescent mica powder then used a piece of tissue to smooth out any large areas of mica. I covered it with a piece of scrunched up tissue paper and set it aside to dry. Basically it is the caught in crystal technique without the alcohol inks, giving it a faux mother of pearl look when dry. I cut it to size then added the scalloped border from the Lavish Swirls diagonal die set all the way around the edge. Next I covered a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet then cut it with the outside die in the St. Lucia die set. I used the same die again but this time with the next one down in the set together to give me the lacy sort of fringe. I peeled the backing off of the die shape, then added the fringe sort of border around the edge then dusted the remaining sticky sheet with pearlescent mica powder. I cut a Blossoming branch and added it, layering on the small flowers cut out of an extra piece of mica topped card. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with the small oval from the St Lucia set. I finished the card with a paper pierced white mat then a final white mat. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size. Leave me a comment to be entered in the drawing for this one. Winner to be announced as usual on Saturday's blog post. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. A beautiful card, I would love to see this one "in the flesh" as the mother of pearl effect looks lovely but know that photos just don't do it justice. The Blossoming Branch with the delicate mica covered flowers is gorgeous. Love it all : )
Sending my daily hugs to everyone, with extras for Sandra, what an awful start to your day my lovely! Take care xx

Hi Sue,
Another wonderful card. Just love the
Mother of Pearl effect - and I don't
doubt, that it is much more lovely in
real life. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful. Just playing with that die again and posting a card with it today. Love tone on tone and also cannot ever get the shimmer in the stardream or curious metallics to show properly on screen, so can picture it in real. TFS again
Hi Sue
Beautiful card as usual I must give the mother of pearl look a go.
