Gilded Vellum

Hi bloggers!  Today's video card uses vellum and gilding flakes in a unique way.  I hope you like the look as it is quite subtle.  Again, perhaps nice for a gents card, don't you think?

Buy from Joanna Sheen

The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

This is the other video i watched last week along with tuesdays post and i made this one as well, but i made mine in black and milk and if i say so myself it came out beautifully lol. The vellum gives the guilding flakes a very subtle look to the card and i agree it makes for a lovely guy card or even any occasion cards.

  31. Hi there Sue. Happy Thursday, and to all Wilsonettes.

What a beautiful card Sue, as always I hold my breath as you lay the sticky sheet over your work, why would I think it would slip from your finger's like it does with mine I just dont know, but I do panic when I use sticky sheets lol. I imagin that through the vellum the guilding flakes look beautifully subtle, something I should think about trying - sometime maybe.

Sending many congrats to Nanna Tina, you must be so very very proud : )

Thank you for another lovely inspiring tutorial Sue, I do look forward to watching you craft, always so organised in your beautiful craft room.

Yeah! Demo days are my favourites, I just love watching you weave your magic-you simplify every technique so that us mere mortals are in with a chance of recreating your masterpieces! I agree, this would make a lovely male card, however, the men in my life have to accept something more ornate with me and I have even been known to use pink card!!??! But looking at this, maybe I should try to change a habit of a lifetime for all of their sakes!

Do like this card, Sue - colours, techniques, frame especially. Love it all. Really into frames at the moment, especially as have your noble rectangles - which you were so right about!! Well worth waiting for. Have to say, though, still love the SB Grand Labels for plainer frames (which you were also the inspiration for!
Think I got the last set for sale in the whole wide world and then had to go overseas - not literally of course - big adventure!)
Have somewhat lost enthusiasm for SB even though they have absolutely heaps of new stuff, can't seem to get in'spired lol!!

  135. Hello Sue
Just watched your video using the Noble square dies. I don't have the square noble dies yet but I do have the classic adorned rectangle die. My brothers birthday is coming up quite soon so I am going to try to do the same kind of card but using the classic rectangle die. It will be a great card for men as you say.
    Best wishes

  140. Hi Sue, running late again but this is a great card, I certainly have never thought about using vellum in this way. It is a perfect card for a male but as you said in the video it could also be adapted to be suitable for females. That is the beauty of your dies and designs, it's almost one size fits all!

  142. Hi Sue,
Lovely card today, I think it would make a fantastic male card or a golden wedding anniversary card. I really don't know hiw you keep coming up with all these ideas but I am so pleased that you do! Thank you.
NanaTina, many congratulations to your daughter. That is no mean feat to achieve, so you must be so proud of her.
Diane happy birthday, hope you have had a lovely day.
Well, today has gone as well as it could. Thank you for all your many messages, you are all so kind. I think that my dear aunt would have been very happy with her send off. It was very well attended and there was no ham and lease pudding anywhere in sight! ( which was what she wanted bless her!) we have very happy memories of her and she is now at rest. Thank you all once again. Love and hugs yo all, Alison xx

  145. Helloooooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! I love this and what you have done with the gilding flakes and the velum. Wow! What a different effect but still looks gorgeous. Like you say Sue, great for male card too without the flowers. I love velum it just gives such a soft, rich look and when you heat emboss a sentiment or stamp of your choice in white, gold, red, etc; it just speaks volumes! "Thank you Sue" for another wonderful video. I just love the music at the start! It's so chilled and a " and now I'll begin" tune. Take care Sue, sending love and hugs to you, your family and to all our Wilsonettes who are in need xx

  146. Hi Sue

I think you just solved the man card problem. Lovely and so many possibilities. I love vellum for softening things.

Short again, neck has caused a migraine which ladted most of today. Still wearing the dark glasses (Im looking a bit of a wally tbh) soDon't want to make things worse being online too long. I've managed to comment on my favourite blogs so I'm happy- as I saved the best til last by wishing hugs and happy crafting to Sue and all the Wilsonettes. Have a lovely evening and a happy Friday!

  147. fab card again today and love the way the vellum makes the flakes look subtle.
And as already said great for a male card as they are the ones I find difficult to think of things to do.
Also so easily adapted for a ladies card too.

  149. Evening Sue and fellow Wilsonettes
I have to agree with Theresa Pace. As soon as I saw this card it reminded me of a really expensive, posh and luxurious box of chocolates. You know the ones I mean? The ones you buy from a really posh shop when you've got more money than sense!
So love what you've done with the gilding flakes and the vellum. I rarely use gilding flakes even though I have some because I feel that they can look too bright. Softening them with the vellum is such a lovely effect.
It's like when you're not looking too good but by candlelight you look absolutely gorgeous.
Vellum and candle light - 2 of my favourite things. Both can hide a multitude of sins!
Adding noble dies to my long want/need list. Got loads of vellum and quite a few tubs of gilding flakes.
    Crafty hugs

  155. Hi Sue. What a truly fabulous video and stunning card today !! I love, love, love it all !! You have used some great colours and they look wonderful with the guilding flakes. I love the idea of putting velum over the top of the guilding flakes to create a softer look. You are very clever Sue. Something I would never have thought of doing. I really love the debossed frame you created. I have one set of the noble squares but I do not yet have the other one with the debossed pattern. It is on my great long wish list. Like you say Sue this is a really great card for a man. Thanks for sharing your wonderful video and card today. Sending you lots of love and hugs Sue from Tres x x x

Allemecca Alison, I am so glad things went as well as possible for you and your family today. Thinking of you and sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x

  156. Hi everyone, I guess I forgot to comment here today...how could I...cast me into the stocks folks...lol...no I had such a heavy day yesterday...father-in-laws cat to vets early for op. Housework, then out to work, then shopping, picking cat up, making my husbands Birthday card in time for Saturday...Ps hope you have a great one Dianne...with plenty of S W goodies in your gift box.

Love this card Sue, as you know gilding flakes are not my favourite but your video inspires me to try and as it is not easy to design a man card we need all the ideas and inspiration we can get.

Take care and hugs to one and all Love Beth B x x x
