Thinking Of You

Hello crafters!  This is a petticoat style card using my Carina Gemini die.  I used the last few pieces of my favourite peach card, it has been discontinued in this shade unfortunately :(   I cut six of the Carina die, four in peach and two in white.  I arranged them vertically radiating from the centre of the card.  I used the Scandinavian border die to cover the seam where they meet in the centre.  For the focal element, I used the Oslo die and cut it in white card.  While still in the die, I inked it with Tattered Rose distress ink before removing it.  I mounted it in the middle of the card, then cut a Scandinavian tag in white.  I used it to clip on to the edges of the Oslo die that I stamped the sentiment on to, the swirly bits look like they are holding on to it, don't they?  The card was then completed with my signature piercing on the white mat layer, a thin peach mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.
If you are in the area, I am demonstrating at the Ally Pally show in London.  It is a wonderful day out with loads of great demos and products!  I hope to see you there.  All for now, Sue x

  8. Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, I agree with everyone that it is such a shame that the peach card is discontinued, it was such a beautiful colour, but back to the card, well what can I say, I love it and the colours really do go so well together, I also love the little tags which hold the sentiment they are ingenious. See you at Ally Pally tomorrow.

Have a happy Saturday everyone whatever you are doing, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  24. Morning Sue. What a pretty card today. Again, you have used my go to dies, I just adore the Scandinavian set, the border just smiles to me even when I snip it down the middle to make two borders from her, and the tag - so versatile. I dont have the Carina die unfortunatly, but its on my list. All in all a gorgeous card, but nothing will lift my spirits today as another year where I cant get to meet you at AP. I, along with my other Lancashire/Yorkshire Wilsonette sisters LONG for the day you do a show up here, it may just mean our 'pipe dreams' become a reality, so I think Im going to have a 'sulk day' cuz I can ! Have a wonderful day Sue, I know just how much you enjoy meeting your Wilsonettes and vise versa.

    Morning Sue
Have a really good day at Ally Pally.
I love the concept and colours of today's gift but for me it's a little too frothy. I know I'll be in the minority but it's just a little too busy. I shall have a go just using two of the frills and see how that looks.

We are without sunshine this morning but I hope I can cheer you up with my 'Pastry Date' last night!!
Mr E decided to be careful this week and went for the French version of a piece of Custard Tart = it's filling is a little thicker and creamery than our CT and it had a mixture of cherries, and plums mixed in. It gained full marks from him so it must have tasted good!!!
I had a 'Strawberry Volcano' which was:- aa shortcrust pastry tart base filled with Patisserie cream and then a complete strawber
ry in the middle and mounted round that for the volcano effect were strawberry halves glazed and finished off with a spot of cream and Choc sprinkles. Definitely a sweet to die for!!

Have a really good day everyone. To those lucky ladies visiting AP hope you all get to see each other and please pass on hugs etc if you have time - if possible please say hello to Sue for me as I would dearly love to meet her one day.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  87. Good morning Sue and all the fabulous Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue, this is such a pretty card and so girly looking with the frilly borders of the Carina. Awh, this is such a pretty shade of peach but i take it not everyone agrees with us and that is why they are discontinuing it. Thank you for the beautiful cards that you have made for our delight once more and have a fantastic day down at the Ally Pally with my friends as i feel sure the invasion of Sandra, Mrs B, Pat and gang are all going to descend upon you to tell you just how wonderful you are which is from all of us that can't get down to you as well. (You will hear the noise from them from a great distance so listen for the laughing and excited bunch and you will know that it is some of the Wilsonette Angels arriving).I hope you have comfy shoes on for all that standing that you do in showing us your wonderful talent. Have a great day dear friends that are down there with you, you can recover tomorrow.
Well girls my hills have been snaffled again and i have snow and sleet coming through the rain that has decided to come, yeuk!
Steph i think a few of us will join you in the sulky corner for we can't get down that far either and well it could prove my undoing even trying somehow. So can i join you in that corner, i can bring a different colour of green to your envy green and who know a few more joing in we could have a kaleidoscope of varying shades? Have a good day flower what ever you manage to do or get done, and please don't go mad as it just makes you ill, ok.
Janet, that's ok if you are in the minority, that is what is good about having personal choice and being able to have your own opinions and that is what being a crafter is, enjoying what someone has made and being able to use something of the idea and make it your own. Glad you both enjoyed your own piece of heavenly delight though and when i get the tongue to stop drooling at the thought of that Strawberry Volcano i will let you know. Will need to have a quiet word with that cafe owner to see if we can get calorie free versions in.
You get him told Lynne so that he is in no doubts when he has to take time off so that it can be put in soon enough. He can take his darling little princesses for a walk in the park and take a picnic while you have a ball inside as i am quite sure that there will be some of the Wilsonettes there the day that you go, just get organised with them first so that you all have a day to remember. It is wonderful meeting friends on here and then to meet them in real life is fantastic and gives a real buzz to you for days afterwards that i can tell you from meeting 3 of my Angels this week and having a ball.
Well i will go and leave you all as i have lots to do. Have ordered up bubble wrap for mum's ornaments and pictures that i am not keeping so waiting for that and boxes to put them into so that OH can get on and decorate, so will leave with sending hugs to all my Angels both on the blog and not at the moment and have a wonderful day everyone
    Love and crafty hugs

  113. Lovely frothy card. I know someone who would love to receive a card like this so might have to give it a go.

Poor Clare, do hope you feel better soon.

Steph, can I join you and Norah in the corner, I'll be blue 'cause that's how I feel today plus I am cold - we had lovely hot sunshine Thursday and part of yesterday but now the cold wind is blowing again, at least we haven't the sleet and snow Norah has.

    Take care keep warm.

    Love and hugs

  117. Hi Sue,
Sorry I have been unable to comment lately, will try to do better! This card is lovely but a bit too frilly for me. I really like the peach card - one of my favourite colours - such a shame it has been discontinued.

Hope you are enjoying Ally Pally and meeting lots of your Wilsonettes.

  124. Hi Sue,
Just back from Ally Pally. I really enjoyed the day especially seeing you demonstrate the weaving dies. Seeing the variations you can create with the two dies they are now on my wish list!

  135. Hi Sue and everyone

Not been in long from Ally Pally. Long journey but well worth it. Tried to leave a comment this morning while I was on the train, took ages to type as so wobbly ( the train, not me) and then it didn't publish after all that, so I gave up. Don't usually use my phone, won't try again either.

I really like the card today and the discontinued colour.
I bought some coconut white card today as I haven't used it before... along with lots of other CE products.

Was lovely to see Sue today in person and chat though it took me three visits to pluck up the courage to speak. I'm glad I did, but I think I speak faster when I'm nervous so I think Sue probably didn't understand everything I said. Lovely to see the cards in real life, they look even nicer, and the stick pins were beautiful.

    Love Helen xxx

What a sweet name for this lacy card calling it a petticoat design. I have not heard "petticoat" to describe a card technique / look before now. I too like the peach cardstock, especially with white. Thanks for making such a lovely and fru fru design!

  143. I love all your cards Sue, but this one is particularly beautiful. I'm new to die cutting but have learned so much from your videos on Creative Expressions and from this blog. I already have some of your dies and buy new ones whenever I can.

  144. Love this - the petty coat effect using this die is stunning.

    Got to get this die!

  146. Hi Sue, love the card today, so lacy.

It's a shame about the peach card, but if you can find some inks or paints, you could make your own up using white card, not so instant as using ready made, but if you want to match the card up with something else.

Craftihappiness to everyone and lots of love from Macky.

  151. Love this card! I haven't used peach card stock in a while, and after seeing this card I will dig some out of my stash. I've been using a lot of lavender and mint green lately with purple and turquoise butterflies. Time for a change of colors. Thanks.
