Thinking Of You

Hi bloggers!  I am releasing my inner grunge on this one just a little bit!  Every once in awhile, you just need to, don't you!  I reached for the Teresa Collins paper pad for this one.  I selected a variety of the papers as they all work lovely together.  I used my scissors on the edges to distress them, giving them small tears in spots and rolling the corners too.  Using the large polka dot mask, I inked through it on to the background music papers using a walnut stain distress pad (and a light hand).  I added a strip of a coordinating paper to add some variety to the background.  I cut a rust dotted paper into a smaller area and inked the edges with Walnut Stain.  I stamped the corner with a swirl stamp and dusted it with bronze mica powder.  Next I cut the Pierced Tag die out of kraft card.  I stamped my sentiment so it looks straight when he tag is mounted on an angle.  I added a variety of ribbons and twine to the hole in the tag as accents.  I cut the Trailing Ivy out of the music background and glued it to the bottom of the card.  I made a flower out of the decorative papers cut from the Complete petal Camellia die set and seated it in the corner with the ivy.  Finally I finished the card with Ivory PVA glue dots all the way around the edge.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Wow! This is a blast from the past, I love it. Now why didn't I think of stamping that way? instead of everyone having to tilt their heads to read the tag lol. This is such a fabulous card and has got me wanting to do some 'grunging' today.

  7. Hi Sue. Great card, I love how you have gone grungy but with the soft touch of the flower. It's always good to see any style of card from you : )
I hope you are really starting to relax now Sue, I relax as soon as we walk out of our front door to go on holiday but it can take a couple of days to unwind for some people. Enjoy yourself : )

  9. Hey, Sue, this is great and the TC papers so good for this look. Not a fan of distressed edges on non-grunge cards, but love this look when in a total scheme. Do like the masked dots in the background and agree with Heather T about the stamped sentiment - nice touch. This card is a saver! Will be trying (my version) out on the next man card.

    Morning Sue
Oh what have you done to me this morning Sue! I need more than a couple of coffees this morning to put me right.lol. As you probably know I'm not a fan of shabby so grunge just doesn't sit well with me at all. I'm all for coming out of my box on occasion but you have stumped me today. Having said all that I can see that some teenagers would just absolutely love today's gift.
Sorry Sue it's not often one of your works of art doesn't suit so I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

I finished the bday card for France so into the post it goes today hoping it gets there in time for the 15th. Just need to get the rest of March out of the way now.

Lynne - so pleased Cully was OK. I can never understand why people let their dogs off leads when they know what will happen when they see other doggies.
Pam - sending hugs and comforting thoughts for this week-end.
Steph - hope you had a good night and not a disturbed one by others in the ward.

Well as it's Friday which means housework this morning and hopefully some crafting this afternoon. We have a quiet morning here after the horrible rain and wind this week so fingers crossed it will stay like this for the week-end.
To all in pain or suffering I hope your day get better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  122. Hi Sue, I love it when you do something out of the ordinary but as you might have guessed, I don't do grunge. It is a great card though and I love the ivy cut from patterned paper - that is something I will take from this.

  123. Hi Sue,

It was a surprise to see your card today.....it's lovely, but not something I would have done myself.

It gave me ideas that you can use different papers to cut your dies on. I do have trailing ivy die, I use usually white or green, never thought about using music note paper/card. You have given me an idea as I have many requests to do cards with music notes. Happy crafting to everyone.

  125. Hi Sue

I love grungy, I spent my teens and twenties being pretty grungy and there's still a good deal of it left in my late 30's. Grungy, shabby all tick boxes for me as well as a nice tag! Plus a paper with a music score. It's made my day ;-)

Rolf, I love your idea of die cutting newspaper, I've always loved seeing papers in other languages used in mixed media so the idea is very appealing to me, hugs x

Norah, fatigue been a big problem for me too this last week, hugs of solidarity x

Steph, know you're not up to crafting but hope you're comfortable as can be, gentle hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery x

Sheila and Nikki, thoughts of sympathy and hugs x

Have Drs appointment for Tuesday morning, was very lucky to get it as due to a lack of Drs they have all but stopped pre book appointments as too many people didn't show up. No concessions for disabled people/ exceptional circumstances which is going to be difficult especially as they won't do home visits in my situation (travelling in the car is painful and I suffer for a few days after). So angry at those people who have made life more difficult for those of us who do turn up! Sorry for rant, sore and tired so a bit cranky! Going for meds and try a little gentle crafting.

Hugs to you all, extra hugs if they're needed. Have a happy Friday and a great weekend

Your card today is so different to your usual style but I like it very much. I love the antique style of cards as well as the pretty, precise and flowey ones. This type of card is so useful for a man, too!
Thank you to all the kind Wilsonettes who left comments re my problems on the Bloglovin site. I am so relieved to find it was not only me having trouble!! I was beginning to think I was having a senior moment. My main concern was that I was not being counted for Sue's Blog.

  156. Hi Sue. Well this is certainly a very different card for you today !! I really do like it !! I love you the way you have stamped the sentiment on the tag at an angle so that it is straight when on the card. Why have I never thought to do that before !! I love the colours and pattterned papers you have used to. They look great together. I love using my Distress Inks so I could see me doing this kind of card. I think I would enjoy trying something new for a change. Like other crafters have said, I to think it would look great for a man's card. I really love the Camellia flower and I think the newspaper Ivy dies look really fab !! I never really think to cut dies from patterned papers. I just have to try this now !! Your tags dies are on my huge wish list. Such a "must have" die set.

I am desperately trying to catch up. I'm sorry I am not managing every day now but as you know I have little free time at the moment.

I have to say I just loved this card, right up my street and a lovely change from all the die cards.

'Just the ticket' you might say!! Simply beautiful.

I do hope you have managed to switch off and truly enjoy a holiday. Looking forward to the pictures
