Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello crafters!  I just can't stay away from the Fire and Ice Technique for too long and this one is all about it!  I started with a piece of milk card and cut the Austrian Background die.  I covered the front of it with a sticky adhesive sheet, turned it over and gilded it from the back with Summer Meadow gilding flakes.  Next I peeled off the backing sheet that was still on the front of the card, exposing the adhesive and covered it with Iced Snow.  I trimmed it and added mounting foam to the back.  Next I cut a frame using the Salzburg die set out of white card and backed it with vintage gold card.  I added mounting foam to the back and stamped my sentiment, mounting the frame over it.  I trimmed the excess card away and added it to the middle of my card with glue.  I gilded an extra piece of white card and then cut the Delicate Daisies Complete petal out of it.  It is easier to cut the gilded card than it is to gild the cut daisies as you run the risk of creasing the petals.  I added the open petal die cut out of white card to the top of each of the flowers then coated the petals with Cosmic Lacquer and allowed them to dry overnight before assembling my flowers.  I tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and added the largest flower to it with a couple of matching stick pins.  I made two smaller flowers and added them to the opposite side of the framed sentiment.  I finished the card with a paper pierced milk mat layer, then a thin mat of vintage gold card and a final milk card mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this one, just leave a comment and check back on Saturday to see if your name has been drawn!  All for now, Sue x

The stick pins are beautiful as always and gives just the right finish to your card. I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying using the dies from your last launch, I love how they mix and match with any existing dies I already have.

  44. Hi Sue and all visiting this wonderful blog today.
Oh Sue, this is just the prettiest card, from start to finish it just sparkles and smiles at us, my heart is pounding, Im breaking out in a sweat at the thought of all those flakes and sticky adhesive sheet LOL...
Oh Midnight Snow, how you love thee (NOT) what a complete disaster I had yesterday.. How you would have laughed - boy oh boy do those black doods stick to you LOL I was covered ! Using my fav male colour scheme of Foundations vintage gold with the slightest black border I could do, decided to give the Austrian Vienna a bit of masculine black sparkle... But didnt want to use too much (why use more than you have to) so I peeled back the sticky sheet and decided to burnish the midnight snow through the background... It didnt work ! I had more stuck to me (and the table and the card surrounding and the carpet and my face) ! It didnt cover through the background like the iced snow does, I (and my work space was covered) oh what a mess, and had to start all over again, I think the only way to pick up the little black speckles on my cream carpet is with strips of cellotape ! What a whoopsie you tube that would have made LOL (who needs jet lag when you have a dumb brain like mine) LOL.
So im shackled to my chair again today... 3 cards made 4 more to do with a few more male cards, whoopiedo : )
So I will thank you for the most beautiful card and wish you all good luck for Saturday.
I have many loving warm hugs to hand out to anyone that needs one today so please help yourself.
    Have a eonderful day.
    Love you.

Stunning card, your fire and ice always look spectacular and this is no exception. I love gilding flakes and especially like the long lasting glittery effect I see all around my home for days after I have used them. LOL.

The gilded and glazed daisies drew my eye in and immediately evoked a long lost memory. My Granny had a beautiful musical jewellery box with a spinning ballerina which I loved as a child. It was made of tortoise shell and she used to let me play with it, and as soon as I saw the daisies I thought -tortoise shell-jewellery box-Granny!! Bless you Sue, you have brought sunshine to my day .

Maria hope today is not another "funny sort of day" for you. Sending you some of my sunshine.

    Morning Sue
What a beautiful way to start a winter morning. A truly regal and very elegant gift just so inkeeping with the season. I have to admit that I still have to try this technique. I have started to cut a card with this in mind and then have chickened out. I really ought to make 2015 the year I step outside of my box.

Alimecca - hope today goes well.
Sandra - Hope you had a really good fuddle yesterday.
Steph - I too just do not get on with black ice. I just cannot make it do as its sister glitters so I'm quite pleased to hear someone else has the same problem.
Norah - I'm missing you. Hope you and yours are well. Stay strong my lovely lady.

Have to finish off my small gifts for my Knit and Natter crafty friends today. This year it's a small votive candle in a Christmassy box to remember everyone this season.
Slow cooker on for tea today - am just waiting for Mr E to rise so he can cut me a piece of turnip for the pot.

To everyone feeling under the weather am hoping you all feel better soon. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  56. Good Morning Sue & friends,
What a lovely shimmery, shiny card today Sue, you can't go wrong with gilding flakes, great idea to use them for flowers, it really finishes the card off.
I made a very similar card yesterday that was the same basic technique but I used frosty shades of blue and silver, with some flowers in the centre! That Austrian Background lends itself to so many different designs.
Cameeli, please drive carefully today, take your time, I hope your parents are well enough to enjoy spending some quality time with you, hugs xxxx
Clare W enjoy your golf today x
Sam Smithard, have you come back down to earth yet after your lively surprise win yesterday!
We had a lovely lunch out yesterday (Pat, Mrs B & I),
Arrived at twelve, didn't leave pub till 3.45 as we were chatting Way, the time just disappeared! We bad great fun though xxx
Well I am off to get sorted, I gave Pat coming to visit today, xxxx

  82. Glorious Gorgeous Card! How I would love to have this creation to gaze at ( as would all the other Wilsonettes ) !
The fire and ice technique has to be my favourite of all ! But I Need the big pot of iced snow as I have run out, we are going into Inverness and staying over 2 nights , as Iain has a hospital checkup ( he's better than ever now ) and we will do our Christmas food shop and there will be time to visit the Craft shop ,fingers crossed they have some iced snow.
You made me laugh Myra at the picture of us riding the range over the golf course, nothing so dramatic just the name of a variation of the game ( a fun game) our team won and we got hand warmers as prizes , then we went for lunch and ate so much etc. we couldn't move but it was delicious and I got home just before 5 pm so never got anything else done! Wishing everyone a happy day!

Have just finished my Christmas cards for my craft group. I made some at a workshop but now can't find envelopes large enough - wish the organisers would think of this when putting them together.
Had a wonderful time last weekend in Rainham, Kent. Went to see baby Leo and his Mummies. Had lots of cuddles.
    He's a real charmer - over 12 lbs now
    and he smiles a lot.

Love and hugs to everyone - especially to Pam from Leo. xxx

Steph, your crafty challenges do make me smile. The only way I can tame any of the stuff is to pop my project in a tub I've given the antistatic treatment (old ice cream tubs, lunch boxes etc) so one edge rests on the lip an pop a bit of flake/ ice/ glitter on at a time. I still get it on the table/ me/ Billy if he chooses the wrong minute to see what I'm doing but not in big amounts. I managed one ice card and one microbead card this year and they will go to special people in my life. I hope once you tamed it the effect was what you wanted. Good luck with your next sale.
Having a bed day on the sofa as my body is utterly exhausted and very sore. Billy joined me and is taking more than his fair share of the space. He has his head on a cushion and his 4 paws all crossed together in front of him, he looks the picture of contentment bless him.

Hugs to everyone, especially if you are ill, having treatment, in recovery or any sort of pain.

I love this card, it reminds me of the one we made in Aberdeen which I look at every day if only to tell myself "see, you can do it if you try"'. I also love the way you have glazed the flowers with glossy accents. Every Santa I have sent out has glazed boots and all the bears have shiny noses :-)
