Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there my crafty friends!  I have just so many Christmas cards left to show and time is getting short so here is another up on offer for today's giveaway.  I embossed a piece of coconut white card using my Swirling Holly embossing folder.  I wrapped a piece of frilly edged white ribbon around the bottom and taped the ends to the back.  I tied a double bow and added it with glue dots.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it into a tag shape using my paper cutter and corner rounder.  I tucked the end under a crystal sparkler which I used in the centre of the bow.  For the focal element, I used the Grand Squares to cut a frame, using one of the inside dies to emboss some detail into the frame.  I added mounting foam to the back of the frame to raise it for dimension.  I placed a sticky adhesive sheet over some white card and then gilded it with Golden Jewel gilding flakes.  Once gilded, I embossed it with the Swirling Holly folder.  I placed my frame over this and cut away the excess card.  I centred it above my ribbon.  I covered another piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Using my Classic poinsettia die, I cut several out of it, enough to make two flowers, one larger than the other.  I peeled the backing paper away and coated each piece with clear micro beads.  I offset the flower pieces to create two flowers and mounted them across my frame.  I pierced a white mat layer using my piercing ruler then finished with a slightly wider white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size. If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this card, just leave me a comment.  The winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday's blog post.  Don't forget to check back!  All for now, Sue x

  14. Hi Sue and friends. How id love Mr L's other lady in his life to have a lie in !!

Beautiful festive card for us this morning Sue, thank you. I spent all day chuntering to myself yesterday after I forgot to put my brain in place before starting the Pearl anniversary card ! What did my comment say - I feel a disaster coming on, can you believe I did that ? (see my comment last night) Im sure those that 'know' me well would have guessed it was me lol I cant believe that any other Wilsonette would be SO daft lol !!! There you go, and what do I read again this morning - sticky adhestive sheet, oh boy, but to our friends that wrote that they hadn't done that technique before then done properly and NOT the Lancashire way, yesterdays glittered high low method IS easy lol.
I love todays card and still have many to do so every festive card you share with us will be wonderful.
Have to get bloods repeated today so I think I deserve a trip to my craft store to see what Sue treasure's I can adopt.
Wishing you a bright and beautiful day Sue.
To those not feeling well, I send you loving gentle hugs. To those friends not in a good place and missing from our home, please hurry back we miss you. And to those using sticky sheets PEEL OFF THE BACKING !!! Lol.
    Love you.

Gorgeous card today, love the idea of micro beads on the poinsettias. I will have to try - as I was doing some micro beading last night (not used for a while) so they will be working hard now!
I'm sure I've made enough cards for this year and then along comes another beauty to try and replicate!!
Trouble is I keep changing my mind who will receive which card - as I do have favourites!!
Many thanks for all the inspiration.

    morning Sue
A truly elegant and regal gift today. Very classic in design and colours. Who could want for more!
My space is dusted off and waiting patiently for a beautiful piece of Sue Wilson Artwork. So it's fingers/toes crossed but even if not lucky I really could not ask for anything more beautiful to start my very dull and damp day.

Steph - Hope everything goes OK re bloods today and you certainly deserve and need a visit to your favourite craft shop. Just make sure you're wrapped up warm and a large shopping bag attached to your arm ready for your purchases.
Norah- So so sorry to read about Kirsten and your tiny little bundle. Hope everything goes OK. I just cannot understand nurses and their uppity reactions. Why don't they just think a little before opening their mouth and remember that they have a young first time Mum to be in front of them who needs love and understanding when it looks as though things are not what they should be. Anyway Norah my rant is over and am sending huge hugs - gentle ones of course - to both Kirsten the little one and you. Take care.

It's definitely a staying in day today as it's raining and very very damp. Log burner going full blast; tale set for brecky; just waiting for Mr E to return with bread and paper and then sort out meds for forthcoming week; book ferry/hotel for Sunday/Monday and then WHAT? Oh I think a little crafting is called for.

To all under the weather hope you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Lovely card today and I have just the right spot for it on my bookcase lol! Sorry forgot to comment yesterday was just about to and then remembered that I had an appointment which I was late for! Completely forgot when I came back! Must be my age lol.
Steph, I had to laugh at your last comment yesterday - I've done exactly the same with the sticky sheets! Something you don't do twice. Norah, sorry to read about poor Kirsten's experience. I really don't know why some people go into nursing as they are totally unsuitable. Sending hugs to her. Hope Rory enjoyed the theatre. Thank you for asking about my aunt. She is doing quite well at the moment and although she still does have pain, it is bearable with the morphine patches. She had a long chat with a Macmillan Nurse last week and seemed happier after that.she has lost her appetite however, which is worrying as she is only a size 8 to start with! The doctor seemed quite pleased with her so that was good. Theresa and Tres lovely to see you back and hope that you both feel stronger by the day. Sending love and hugs to all feeling under the weather or low for whatever reason and love to everyone else on this lovely blog. Love Alison xx

Norah, so sorry you had a horrible experience at the hospital , they can be so thoughtless sometimes, I have a friend locally who was over the moon to be pregnant, unfortunately she started to bleed heavily, she was sent for a scan, she was told that the pregnancy was no longer 'viable meaning she had lost her baby, the worst part was that she was then told to go and sit Down in waiting area, unfortunately it was full of heavily pregnant women, so insensitive, she was heartbroken!
Hopefully they do better up where you are, it can be very worrying in the early stages, hugs to you both xxx

  77. Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
Today's card is so pretty all in white with the holly embossing behind in the gold. The poinsettia's have been put just in the right places that it looks like it has them coming out from underneath the flowers (which of course they are, dohhhh) but you know hopefully what i mean. The white square frame just finishes it off beautifully and enhances it for my tuppence worth. Thank you Sue for a beautiful card.
Oh Steph, i am sorry that you had your disaster that you were dreading, but you educated the rest of us on why you don't do it your way. See, you are a font of knowledge and you didn't even know it. I would seen Kirsten to take your bloods but it might be a wee distance for her to go, although she is gentle at it and doesn't leave any bruising or aches where she and her needle has been. Enjoy your trip to your wee crafty heaven when you are finished as i reckon that you deserve a new treat.
Wow Janet, i didn't think that it could possibly your time up again so soon as it doesn't seem that long ago that you were booking the ferry to go. I think you would be better in front of the log burner as it is a nicer scene than the cold, wet days we are having at the moment. We put the cold fire back in about 3-4 Christmas's ago and i am so glad because i have been able to do my childhood thing of looking for pictures in the fire and i don't put the heating on, so the upstairs is just how we all like it, cold. And since my lot don't know the meaning of shutting a door, it travels through to take any chill of that is there. I think i need to invest in automatic hinges that shut after people when they go through. Have a lovely last few days this year at your haven of peace.
Rory had a great trip to the theatre and all i can get out of him is that it was good. He is going to Perth on Friday with the school to the Black watch museum or headquarters as far as i know and that should be interesting for him. My son likes to ask questions...all the time. Why? is the normal one and then when explained, it is another but why. He is not one of the shy ones that sit there either afraid to ask anything or the others who are just not interested. Rory loves history and what makes it up and how it became history etc. Your brain is fair pickled by the end of it when you have run out of answers. I am glad one of my children share my love of history and of numbers and now that he is getting into his art at the school and college, just maybe he will start taking an interest in some of the other things i like doing.
Myra P, i hope you enjoyed the beautiful sites around about Balquihder yesterday, but sorry that you didn't get to see my beautiful country in better conditions. I had an old lady who was a spinster that lived there in a Romany gypsy caravan that was absolutely beautiful. She had it in the grounds of her home but because her sister had come to stay years previous and she couldn't take any more she moved out and into this beautiful caravan. It was like a Dr Who's tardis as it was so big inside and everything in place. The beautiful carvings and paintings on it were exquisite. This was another one of my mums hospital friends that met up each time they were in, which was quite a lot. She was a lovely lady and just loved being someones granny as it fair tickled her. Another soul that Jim and i brought some fun and laughter into her world. Happy times for all of us.
Wishing all my blog Angels well and sending hugs to all both here on blog and not at the moment. I hope our missing friends are getting stronger by the day and soon be back.
Crafty hugs and love to all,
    Norah (Glenochil village)

To all in pain or unwell I send comforting hugs and loving prayers to wish you well.
It is actually fairly bright and sunny at present so having walked the dog and rested I must now go and finish my mothers birthday card. Take care all

Today's card is really beautiful and one of my favourite Christmas cards from you this year. I love the gold and white and your bow with white dazzler is lovely. I really like those as they remind me of snowflakes!
Beautiful card once again. Thank you very much.
Norah - so sorry to read about yesterday's experience at the hospital. Some people just think they know everything . So sorry - Kirsten must have been scared. Do hope and pray all goes well with Mum, Baby and Grandma from now on. Thank you - we had a lovely day at Balquihder and beyond yesterday! As you know it is quite a road . The scenery is wonderful though and the road was really quiet yesterday. Had lunch at the lovely restaurant almost at the end. What a view. Weather doesn't matter - we are having a lovely rest which my husband needed!
Steph - you had me in fits with both posts! You triumphed in the end and so chuffed you got your mojo back! Hope all goes well today. Buy something nice .x

Today's Card Is Extremely Excellent, Rich And Truly Opulent.
I Personally Love You Sharing Christmas Cards With Us, As It Gives Me Lots Of Inspiration Although There Is No Way!! I Could Ever Achieve Anything Like This Magnificent Excellent Card.
And YES Like All The Wonderful Ladies/Gents That Visit Your Blog I Would Love My Name To Be Picked Out On Saturday But So Would Everyone Else.
I Love The Swirling Holly Embossing Folder And I Must Say I Love The Focal Point Where You Have Used The Gilding Flakes Then Placed It Through The Same Embossing Folder The One You Used Prior "The Swirling Holly."
It Looks So Opulent And The Close Up Shots Give Us A Really Good Look At This, You Wouldn't Get The Same Effect With Mirror Card, Which I Personally Don't Care For.
I Love The Super Bow And The Crystal Sparkler You've Added And The Magnificent Classic Poinsettas I'm Thrilled I Purchased These, I Love The Frame And Since You Have Shown Us How To Do This, I Do It All The Time But I Must Admit The First Time I Cut Instead Of Embossed What Am I Like Lol!

  147. Hi Sue

A truly gorgeous card, and not a time consuming one it seems so ideal for a batch making session. Hoping to start on one or two today and some prepping to do... fingers crossed.

Steph, I hope your blood tests come back okay, hugs x And quite right you should go and treat yourself. It's the grown up version of the "I was brave" stickers the kids get!

Norah, what a horrible experience for poor Kirsten (I read back when I saw other comments). I really believe that while many go into the NHS because they genuinely want to help people there are a good proportion who simply see a wage packet and treat people as undesirable customers as a result. I've had plenty of both over the years. I hope all is well though and I'm glad Rory seems to have enjoyed the theatre. I did raise a smile with you describing his thirst for knowledge. I bet once he's learnt about those things he is really interested in he doesn't forget, I used to love being with the youngsters who have Aspergers as their knowledge on 'their' subjects was amazing and usually they'd teach me a thing or ten. I love history too so museums are something I really enioy too. Hugs from me to all three of you.

I need to drag myself into the kitchen for some meds then up the table for an hour. It's one of those times where I don't feel quite like it but want to and know I'll feel better for a little while up there, the change in the weather has run me right down along with my back causing new levels of grief. I need to focus on distraction. I have all my dies/ EF's nicely organised so no excuses!

Hugs to you all, especially if you are ill, having treatment, recovering or in any kind of pain I have visitors tomorrow (with a playmate for Billy) and my PA is here Friday so I may not be back before the weekend.

    Happy crafting,

    T x
