Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  I thought I would give you a break from Christmas card giveaways this week.  This week's giveaway is the card that I first demoed on my last shows.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut the Auvergne insert out of the top half of the card.  On the lower portion, I cut the Bevelled Glass Striplet insert.  I did not use the outside cutting edge of either one of these.  I cut the card on a paper cutter directly in the centre of the Striplet, then matched it up and glued it on top to make it half the width for a smaller border area.  I added mounting foam to the back of this piece to raise it for dimension.  On a piece of blush card, I added self adhesive sticky sheets to the area which corresponded to my die cut area.  I peeled the backing paper away and added Iced Snow.  I laid the background on top, adding glue to my mounting foam so it would stick well.  I made a double frame using the outside cutting edges to the Auvergne die set and mounted foam on the back and added it over the insert cut out area.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Austrian tag.  Before removing it from the die, I inked it with Spun Sugar distress ink.  I mounted it with foam in the centre of the Auvergne insert area.   I made a Mosaic 3D bow using the smallest size in the larger bow set with the matching Itty Bitty bow set.  I used blush card for the base piece cutting it from the Classic sets and then white from the Mosaic sets.  I made my bow and added it with glue dots to the centre of the striplet.  I finished the card with a wide white mat that I used Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue to create dots around the edge.  A thin blush mat was added followed by a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win this card, just leave a comment on today's post.  The winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday's blog post.

John Lockwood is on Create and Craft tv today with shows at 10am and 1pm.  I hope you can tne in to see his exciting demos!  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Today's gift is giving me a little problem in that on the last photo which is a view of the full gift it looks as though background is protruding through the very fine web of the die. This is the only time/photo that this is happening to. It is a beautiful appearance and really does not spoil your gorgeous gift. I'm not sure how that effect could be done in real life but it must be a challenge to try it.
As you can imagine using your French die has really made my day and therefore I love everything about today's gift. These dies really do work well with any colour behind them but today's is so so gentle and soft what more could anyone want. Again a big THANK YOU for starting my day of beautifully.

Norah - Oh a Nan Nan/Granny you're going to be!!! What fantastic news. Perhaps none of us are ready/prepared for that wonderful status in life but oh what joy and fun our Grandchildren are. I can just see one very very spoilt little one (not too much of course but that's what Nans/Granddads are for). Perhaps your butterfly was a little visit from someone very close to your heart to hear about your good news.
Sandra - have a really good day with your two Wilsonette Sisters and maybe get a little creating done along the way!

Well the rain stopped just before bedtime and it's still fine just very very damp and garden looks very very soggy!! We are fortunate that the water doesn't get near the house but the bottom of the garden; the flowerbeds on that side and the front drive and under the gates to the road gets flooded when it's very heavy rain. This never used to happen and has only happened for the last five years. We think that whoever owns a piece of land adjoining our neighbour's land quite a bit further up the back lane has somehow altered the water course as the water comes through the edge of our neighbour's land into another piece of land joining the bottom of our garden and then via us to the road/dyke and onto the water meadow across. Hope you can follow that it sounds a little bit like a jigsaw puzzle. There's nothing we can do as the owner of the land is quite a large employer in the village and so can do no wrong.

To all in pain and under the weather hoping you feel better as the day goes along. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
    Janet x

  38. Elegant and oh-so-feminine with the blush card and pearls and bow. Beautiful card, Sue. Do like the Auvergne dies, such a lovely set (which, as usual, don't have but maybe I'll be on late catch-up next year!)

    'P' in Wales

Norah - knitting needles out then! My, what a surprise and can see lots of stories heading our way.
Diana G - belated thanks for tip re perfect layers - don't actually have problems cutting them, but seem to have a propensity for wonky assembly! Anyone got a cure for that please?

  40. Good morning Sue & friends,
Lovely card today, not too fussy, I have not got any of these dies as yet, I love the look of the focal point though, so I may have to treat myself to that range, I am yet to do any crafting after the weekend!
I am off to Pats today, spending the day with my two lovelies, so will hopefully get my 'mojo' back, we do usually have a giggle though and that is much needed!
No hoovering Pete, until we have gone home!
Janet, I hope the rain has stopped and the autumn sun is showing it's face to you today! Otherwise you will need a snorkel to go with your slippers! Hugs xx
Grandma Norah, had the shock sank in yet? Does your daughter live with you? Bless you my dear friend, I hope it won't sadden you if I say that maybe that butterfly was your Mum sharing your news, I like to think these things happen for a reason and butterflies aren't so common this time of year! Hugs xxxxx
I will have to record Johns shows unless we watch it at Pats!
Steph, have you managed to get back in your craft room and on with the Christmas cards? I haven't even thought about Christmas yet!
Huge hugs to all of you Blog Family members,
    Sandra xxxxx

  51. Such a pretty elegant card for today's giveaway. Looking forward to taking some time out to watch John's shows.
I've been bogged down a bit with all the hospital visits and having a new shower room fitted. We didn't have a window in the room so I made a decision to get one put in. what a palaver that turned out to be! I don't think the builder knew what he was doing as he turned up with one twice the size I had asked for! And then he hadn't realised that the sloping ceiling was actually part of the roof!! (My house is nearly 100 years old). Result was he then had to go outside to drill through the wall just below the eaves and then found out the window would be lower than he expected. After I had questioned him about it he then walked out on me and refused to come back. However I was put in touch with some really lovely guys who managed to finish the job and give me the correct sized window!! My plumber, another wizard at his job, is now in the process of fitting new refurbishments so it should all be in time for my radiotherapy to start. A big sigh of relief.
My comfort blanket is ready to wrap itself around anyone in need of a gentle hug.

  98. Good morning Sue and Wilsonette friends,
This is beautiful Sue although it took my brain a few reads before it actually went in on why the striplet what smaller and where it had vanished to. Excuse me Sue but my brain is still in shock from my baby girls news and the eyes are not quite awake when i was trying to figure it out where it was. What a great idea and just makes the die even more useful than normal. I love the blush pink card as it is so soft and delicate looking. Thank you Sue for another inspirational beauty.
Cheryl flower, i am so sorry that you have had a time of it with chanty raslers of builders, but now that you have found good ones i bet you will be pleased with the finished result as the window will make a big difference in the amount of daylight you get to see. I hope that your shower room is up to equal high standard for you, as it is these wee things that will make the biggest difference to you at this point in time and also during the coming months.
Wheely, glad to see that you haven't been bed ridden or hospitalised with all your new work and appointments, but i hope that you are able to do a wee bit crafting again soon. It can be a long day when you are not able to do anything, so even just that wee touch every now and then will make all the difference to you.
Yes girls you could say i am in shock and i feel quite sorry for wee thing when it comes, having a mad granny. But it is going to have a ball playing with granny and her toys. Mum and i always said that our brains were different from anyone else's just because we could make something out of nothing, our imagination sort of went out of control slightly at times :) Rory has that talent as well. I think Ryan and Kirsten will be getting a hyper baby back when it comes to see this granny though some how. Oopps.
Thank you for telling me what the butterfly meant as i knew someone had thoughts on it but couldn't remember who. I didn't realise that butterflies still went around at this time of the year and for it to be inside and come up the stairs to my room, have a few quick burls around the 3 of us when we were talking and then disappear was decidedly strange. I have always had the opinion that you could have worse news than pregnancy and i still believe it, it is just going to take me a wee bit to let it sink in properly.
What a beautiful morning i have waiting for me outside the windows with the sun streaming down onto the houses and the hills, bringing out new colours not seen. And it is not too cold either for a change, which is strange at this time of the year but will let me get some of the different bits and pieces done in the garden for the winter.
Sending hugs to all my Angels both near and far at the moment. Take care and to our dear friends that can't come home at this time i send my hugs wrapped in love and concern,
    Love and crafty hugs

  102. Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
This is gorgeous Sue, and shows your dies off to perfection. I love it.
Norah - congratulations, there is no love like a Grandma's love (in my opinion). My niece has just become a Grandma at the age of 49, which is perfect (I was in my 60's before Rachel managed to present me with Eleanor) and being a younger Grandma is definitely a bonus. Although now that Eleanor is 11 this month she says that I'm her best (older) friend and that she can talk to me about anything. Enjoy every minute of the pregnancy and start your scrapbook with the first scan picture!! I was there at El's birth - which was wonderful because I did not see Rachel being born.
My love to all who are on the blog, and those who are missing for any reason, and of course to our Sue xx

  145. Good afternoon Sue & All The Wilsonettes! Hope you are all well & enjoying good weather, wherever you are? It is a lovely, sunny day here but quite chilly! I am sorry I haven't posted anything on here for a while, Sue, although the cards you have been posting have all been stunning! Last year, I had bladder stones (LARGE BLADDER STONES!) removed in hospital. I then had to have scan, to see if they'd all gone (thankfully they were!)& that scan revealed cysts on my ovaries (which I was told were cancerous but it turned out they weren't!! I then had to have a hysterectomy last December. NOW I have bladder stones back & will have to have them removed AGAIN! That is probably not a big issue for an able-bodied person, but I am in a wheelchair, so it is harder for me! Anyway, I hope that will get sorted soon! I am in the process of making Christmas cards, at the moment &, with the help of Sue Wilson's ELEGANT dies, they are looking a lot more professional, this year! You have produced a lovely card for the Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway, Sue & I would love to be in with a chance of winning, as it would really cheer me up! Keep up the good work, Sue! 153. Hi Sue

Words for today... soft, pretty, feminine- another (like yesterday) that you could send to anyone of any age. I imagine it sitting on a lovely fireplace with lots of shabby chic/ pretty trinkets all around. Hugs from Billy and I to you and Mom x

Wasn't John fantastic this today! He had a real rapport with Leonie this afternoon and the show just whizzed by. I brought my Christmas present from Mr W today, just he doesn't know it yet!

Helen, pain is not nice regardless and I hope you feel better soon x hugs

Cheryl, bad builders are the worst, Mr W had so many jobs putting right others mess ups! I'm happy you got someone good and your new bathroom will make such a difference to you x hugs

Hallo Rolf! Willkommen! We are all friendly here and Sue has a truly international blog x hugs

Norah, thank you. I hope you are getting used to the idea of being a grandparent, I love knitting/ crocheting baby clothes! It's taken many, many, many years to learn to be sensible, I don't always achieve it but I'm quite proud of myself that I did organise myself, it has been on the edge at times but Mr W and Billy did their bit. Billy has got comfortable with the new people he sees to which is a relief. I'm having a little dabble for an hour this afternoon as sitting up the table is good for strengthening /maintaining stregnth in my back. That'll be it for the day after and I shall rest up ready for tomorrow.

Sam S, fireworks are awful for some pets. I hope your pets are ok while the skies are lit x furry hugs from Billy x

Ok, time to prize the dog off my legs (all 30kg off him!), will offer him my bed in way of recompense!

Stay warm and dry everyone! Fingers crossed it'll be dry tomorrow so I can leave the house for a couple of hours. If not I will be introducing my PA to baking skinny cakes and enjoying them after with a cuppa and a game of scrabble. Low fat/ low sugar = an extra large slice!

Hugs to everyone, especially if you're in hospital, recovering, having treatment or in any kind of pain. Pam, thinking of you, hope you're ok and love and hugs to our missing Wilsonettes

Sorry for the long post, happy crafting,
