Peek A Boo Technique

Hello my crafty friends!  A want to share a fun new technique that I have discovered.  I have christened it my "Peek A Boo Technique."  Starting with the background, I embossed a piece of coconut white card with the brand new Celtic Flower Embossing folder.  I matted it with a thin mat of periwinkle card and cut two of the California borders to add to each side.  I then matted the entire piece on a larger sheet of periwinkle card.  For the focal element, using a black archival ink pad, I stamped the Seashell Roses from the Stamps To Die For range on both a piece of white card and periwinkle card.  I used the Calabria die from the Italian collection and die cut the stamped image on the periwinkle card.  The die does not match up to anything on the stamp at all, but you will be left with some of the image left after it has been cut.  Next I lined up the white card with the stamped image behind the die cut and you get the entire image coming back into place with the peek a boo effect.  I love the way it creates an interesting focal point for your card.  I cut a slightly larger circle once the images were aligned and glued together to give me a white mat.  I mounted it with foam in the middle of my card.  I wrapped some white seam binding around the bottom of the card and added a messy bow.  I topped the bow with a white crystal sparkler and made two fancy stick pins to match.  I stamped my sentiment from the Bold Sentiment set and cut it into a tag.  I edged it with some matching ink and tucked the end under my bow embellishment.  I finished the card with a white pierced mat, then added a periwinkle layer and a final white mat.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  35. 2am in Florida, a bright sunny 7.30 in Lancashire. Bank Holiday madness on the roads so a good reason not to spark up the car today and craft, after all, I have my new die to play with ! After 3 attempts of reading instructions and looking at the beautiful photo's I get it lol. It takes time but I get there - eventually ! And what a clever brilliant use of stamp and die, dont think I have the brain power to work this beauty out, Im so useless with written instructions lol.
My word Sue, the ideas you come up with are amazing, some so easy you make us wonder why we've not seen it in our minds, I wish I could get inside your creative mind its an amazing place. The only bit of 'creative' brain I have is looking at some new loo paper patterns and thinking "what an amazing embossing folder pattern that would make" or limited edition chocolate boxes and thinking what an amazing colour for card making, wonder if I should send a snipet to CE for Foundation card lol when it comes to seeing a card in my minds eye, then
trying to actually making it - forget it lol so thank you Sue for helping me see things I would never had thought of EVER lol.

To all our friends and their families that need comforting soothing hugs today, I have many.
Cam, hope you are starting to recover from your wonderful day.
Pam. What a star. And Tina - thinking of you all.

Love you. Have a crafty happy day.

  94. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a fantastic card you have made for our delight today Sue, although have to admit to being like Steph as it took me a good few reads through to get the gist, but thank you for the brilliant pictures as you can actually see just what you were explaining to us. I have fallen in love with your periwinkle colour of card as it is so pretty.
Happy Birthday Vie Carter, i hope that you have a fantastic day Vie as you are only this old once in your life so enjoy it flower.
Oh Jean, it must be an awful worry for you with your lovely son being in hospital. I hope that they manage to control his seizures soon for him as i don't envy the pain the poor lads going through with his broken shoulder. SnowQueen, the brain is addled most of the time but how is your son that was whipped into hospital as well. Now as i say i could have got the wrong mum here because the brain does go on these long distance hikes up the hills,(i'm sure it's to get away from the rest of me) but excuse me if i have got that wrong and carfuddled. I hope both sons of both ladies are going to improve soon.
Lorraine, i was just mulling over that we could make a real good time of it on your hubby's card and mines, then we would definitely enjoy it. Just think stress free enjoyment at the boys expense?????mmmhhhh lovely dream.
Irene enjoy your time away and come back revitalised flower.
Mines doesn't tell me he's off on holiday until the night before, i think it's incase i ask him about going away somewhere. I think the moths would come out to find pastures new if he opened that wallet of his. They got trapped there under false pretenses years ago and having been trying to find a way out since, poor wee mites.
Have a great day everyone and enjoy what i hope is good weather where ever you are. Gentle hugs and gentle wishes i send to our more fragile of friends. Just because the time is passing doesn't mean that you are forgotten,
    Love and crafty hugs,
    Norah (Glenochil)

  107. Hi Sue, saw you demo this technique and thought wow , the card is even better up close. Love the periwinkle colour, thanks for sharing. Lol lynne m x x x

Fur babies excelled themselves yesterday , Tilly spent most of the morning laid back on my lap sunbathing!!!!. Late afternoon hubby decided to cut the grass as his precious( his word ) divas ( my word) doesn't like the grass too long when doing their business. We have a knee high brick wall across the middle of the garden ( a bricks width) so I sat on this to offer hubby words of encouragement like " you've missed a bit " and " that bit needs a bit off " he was so appreciative that he was muttering all the time!!. Well Cully doesn't like the mower so she stayed by the back door , Tilly came up to me and put her front paws on my lap , I informed her that there was no way she was sunbathing again. So she promptly went to the side of me put her paws on the wall and pulled herself up until she was standing on top of the wall , hubby's bottom jaw hit the ground and I laughed so hard I gave myself hiccups. I said to hubby " see I told you she was loopy" . At that moment a picture of Tilly dressed in a pink glittery leotard with pink leg warmers on top of a gymnasts long/ high beam ( not sure correct word) came into my head and further laughter
ensued. Hubby now believes Tilly should be assessed by a vet as he thinks she doesn't know she is meant to be a dog!!!!. He is on doggy duty today so I can try to claw back some sanity, like that is going to happen.

Hope u r having a good day Sue. The weather is pretty lousy here today so I've been clearing my craft room ready to make the next lot of cards for events I've coming up. Christening, wedding renewal, birthday and a just because style.
I'm always in awe of how tidy your work space is when you demo on TV or your videos, it's rare for me not to make a mess but I usually know where everything is lol.
I got lucky on ebay last night. I won a couple of auctions so I have these border dies on the way as well as the California ti on fancy labels set 2. Will have no excuses them, but would love an Italian die, the one used here and also in the stained glass glitter window. Could be my next purchase me thinks.
Anyway I'm babbling. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone. Crafty love to all, Jo xx

  156. Hi Sue. This card is just Sooo beautiful again today !! I love it all !! Periwinkle blue is one of my favourite colours at the moment to. I definitely NEED / WANT to get the Calabria die set. I got quite a few polished silk glitters at Christmas and I really want to make some Stained glass window style cards with this die. I love those border dies to Sue. Lovely background folder ( I bought this one from you at Alley Palley and it is beautiful !! ) I love the messy bow and white Dazzler, and those stick pins are just fab !l
I really hope you will bring us some bead sets so that we can make our own stick pins !! Knowing how bad I am at making decisions I would probably want to buy them all !!
I love your new technique Sue, but I think It may be a bit confusing for my brain !!
I hope you are having a lovely day Sue. Lots of love and hugs, Tres x x x

  159. Hi Sue,
Love today's card . I also remember the demo but was unsure exactly how you did it! Now I know. I will have a go when the stamp comes as although I have the die I don't have the stamp as yet.
I just love how you can make so many different cards by using the same pool of dies in different ways and in differing colours. I made a few cards with the striplet die ( hearts one!) and my first was in your combo of white on silver but then I tried it on white on periwinkle and that was lovely too . My bravest one was raspberry and black! I liked it too. They're all so different! Thank you.
Thank you too for such clear photographs and instructions.
Hope you are having a relaxing time.

  174. Hi Sue

Really pretty card. I like this stamp a lot and is on "the list" too. It reminds me of 'Spirograph' (wow, what I wouldn't give for one of those to craft with!!!) It's great I have a reference to work to when I get each item so I can make the most of my severely limited table time, I'm really grateful to you for showing us all how to make some seriously pretty cards- I think a lot of your designs could be adapted for wall art. Something else for the "to try" list... I have a lot of lists!
