Days of Wine & Roses

Hello friends!  Tuesday video day again and I will be showing you how to make one of the styles of flowers you can do using the Classic Rose die.  These are very easy and a really pretty addition to any handmade card too.  Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel by clicking on the link on the right hand side of my blog.  That takes you right to the channel and you just need to click "subscribe" in the right hand corner.  You will automatically be notified when I add new videos to the channel.  There is a second card for you to see today as well so don't forget to scroll down to have a look!

Buy from Joanna Sheen

Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size.

A card from the Belle of the Ball  stamp set by Creative Expressions for the second card today.  I started by letterpressing the background using the Embossibility folder called Ornamental Iron.  I inked the folder with Antique Linen distress ink and embossed it onto my milk coloured card.  I stamped the border twice from the set in black on to milk card.  I added a thin black mat to them and mounted them diagonally across the corners of the card.  I stamped the dress in black and embossed it in clear and cut it out by hand.  Using an Antique Linen distress marker, I added some detail to the dress then mounted it on foam and placed it on the background.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with Decorative Labels Eight and inked it with Antique Linen.  Using the Vintage Florets, I made several small flowers to use around the sentiment tag.  I mounted the entire piece on a wide black mat and added Cosmic Shimmer black PVA glue dots to the edge.  A milk mat layer with piercing holes surrounds it and then a final solid milk mat.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  16. "How pretty?" you say - well, very very pretty - a real Sue card. Love it all; gorgeous roses and plum card. Thank you for the video, wonder how many will be trying roses today?!
Really like the subtle letterpressing on the second card, and the design so easy to achieve.

Dreamt last night of the demo day at HW - you had to do it on the sidewalk and only two of us turned up in the morning (was it you Heater T?) then I realised I should have been at a later session. A C&C presenter was trying to sell a new cutting gizmo but it kept sticking, so you smiled sweetly, got into your very tiny red car and drove off. Bizarre, or what?

Two very beautiful cards for us this morning. I love the plum card it's such a rich colour. I have the stamps you used to make your roses with and I wonder if you could stamp then cut them out. I'm off home today so will try later and will let you know. I love the colours and all the dies you've used in the first card, especially the way all your dies work together. There is justice after all , hubby has been constantly saying "don't know what your problem is , poochies are little angels for me". Well they weren't yesterday when he was looking after them hehe. He planted lots of daliha bulbs that our youngest daughter had bought for him and poochies sat and watched. As soon as his back was turned Tilly started digging them up. It does me good to know once in a while its not just me they drive nuts lol .

  84. Good morning sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Two very beautiful but entirely different cards for us today and being honest i couldn't pick between them as both stunning. The dress is one i have always longed for but at 5'1" have no chance of ever doing it justice, my friend Debbie now at the grand rafters of 6' she would look stunning and she has the model figure for it as well. I forgot it was Tuesday so forgot that it was movie day and the bonus of another fantastic card for our delight.
Welcome home Janet(Ecco) hope that you had a lovely time when you were away. I hope your 4 day reviver to Phuket has done you a power of good Angela.
Now Lynne, i was giving some thought to Tilly's legwarmers as they wouldn't take that long to knit up (listen i went through school being called knitty Norah and not for the normal reasons of the nit nurse either)and i am quite sure you could get her a little body vest with the tutu attached from like Matalan to full fill her ambitions of star and beam gymnastics;). How could you deprive that wee soul(my word)diva(yours) her ambitions?
Now Lorraine, all we need to make sure of is that they have a healthy overdraft and not to go too far over it,yes???
Going back to bed as having a rough wee days so i will wish you all a fanastic day and see you all tomorrow. Cameeli having gone AWOL since the wedding come backkkkkk...
Or was the festivities that lively that you are still in recoverance mode?
Love and crafty hugs to all,
Norah (Glenochil) where my hills are shining bright and clean today.

  120. Hi Sue. It's video day today !! My favourite !! A two - fer as well !! You really do spoil us Sue. The video as always is just FAB !! I love you demo on your Roses dies. I have really got into making these Roses now over the last few weeks or so and to be honest, I am finding them a bit addictive !! I just want to make them in any colour card I can find !! I have not tried them using felt though yet.
I will definitely be following today's video now as I see I was not rolling them back enough after bending them round the edge of my paintbrush and not quite getting the two smallest petals quite right to fit inside the larger layers !! I am always learning something new following you !!
I really love the rest of the card to and have most of the dies you used so I will definitely be giving this card a go. I already have the plum card so I will be making Plum coloured Roses next !!
The second card today is beautiful to. I have not seen this dress stamp before. It looks very pretty. I may have to get this one. I think this dress would look beautiful on a Wedding card or Wedding invitations. The border stamps are very pretty to. X x x
Have a lovely day today, take care Sue love Tres x x x

    Hi Sue,
the first card is absolutely exquisite - the dies are just made for the colour combo of white and plum. Beautiful, elegant and divine, that's what the roses are. I'm still having to practise to get them looking as good as yours.
The second card is also beautiful but it cannot compete with the first one. HOWEVER, I would count myself very lucky to receive it.
    Hugs, Rose

  127. Hi Sue,
Gorgeous cards today although the first one is my favourite! I love the plum card and have some but scarcely used it! I will now! Love making the roses but mine were never just right - ok - but not right! Now I know where I'm going wrong and it's in the last two little pieces and the rolling or not enough of it! Lol .
Tres I think you and I have the same problem with them - but hey there is comfort in not being the only one! x
Have been cutting loads of faux quilled flowers and leaves as I go to a Care Home to craft this afternoon! Have stamped and cut the big butterflies and other birds and flowers and we will make a Spring garden picture together! - well that's the theory - practice may be a whole lot different. We will have fun - that's the main thing!
Steph - do hope all goes well today. X
Jean still thinking about you and all who need a crafty hug!
    Love Myra
Ps. Did Heather turn into heater cos dream had demo taking place outdoors!! X

  137. Good afternoon Sue. Thanks for an excellent tutorial again. Please don't stop filming these videos. I love them.
Luckily for me I have the dies for the first card. Which I'm still playing with and will for a long time yet health permitting. The second card I have one of the elegant dresses which could look equally as stylish but I don't think it has as much detail as the dress featured here. It's the letter pressed background that does most of the work, it really makes it another wow card. I think I might try to give it a go in the very near future. My napa valley die finally arrived today so that will be something else to play with too. You have inspired me with so many ideas again. You really are a treat.
Well the sun's out here today so I'm going to make the most of it.
Crafty love to everyone, take care, Jo xx

  138. Hi Sue,
The first card is such a classic design, which would work in almost any colour way and create a completely different mood. The roses are lovely, they almost look real, and add great dimension to the card. Great, easy to follow tutorial, as always.
What a contrast with the second card, so dramatic and theatrical, and again, would work in many colour combos. The stamps are so detailed, a very girlie card.

  139. Hi Sue, two beautiful cards today but I think the first one just has the edge for me, probably because of the roses :-)
Norah, sorry it is a bad day for you but the hills do look lovely so I'm sure they will help you feel better.
Lancashire Steph, hope the lump turns out to be nothing but you are right, it is always best to get checked out.
