Nothing So Strong

Hello crafters!  I love this technique and use it quite often.  It's triple stamping and if you haven't tried it, hopefully I will inspire you to give it a go.  For today's card, I used the flower from the Stitched Flowers by Justrite.  I selected three different colours of cards for my three panels.  I have used milk card for the smallest one, then taupe card, then chestnut card for the largest back panel.  I secure them into place with a piece of sticky tape between them, then stamped all over with my stamp inked with Black Archival.  You won't be able to get the ink to go across the edges of the card without leaving a small void, but don't worry, it doesn't matter.  After you are finished stamping, carefully take the layers apart and cut black mat layers for each one.  This will cover the gap in the stamping and set each panel off nicely.  Reassemble them adding foam mounting tape between the layers for dimension.   I simply used an Antique Linen distress marker to colour the edges of the flowers, keeping it very simple and in the same neutral colour tones.  I can easily imagine this done on white card and coloured with some pretty vibrant colours too.  For the centre focal element, I stamped the tag from the set in black  and cut it out with the matching die.  I inked it with Antique Linen before removing it from the die.  I stamped it again, added the sentiment, thee cut it out with the smaller die in the set and mounted it on top with foam for dimension.  I stamped a single flower, coloured it and cut it out by hand.  I added a button to the middle with some Bakers Twine and added it to the corner of the top panel.  I finished the card with a double mat of milk card and added a pierced edge to the upper mat.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8 1/4" in size.

Now for the winner of the Wednesday card giveaway.  This week's winner is:

Carole Zorzo!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.  All for now, Sue x

  4. Good morning Sue and everyone. Just checked back on yesterday's posts and mine appears to have disappeared into cyberspace, but I loved everything about the card Sue, especially the half embossing. The triple stamping looks great, yet another Sue Wilson technique that I must have a try at.
Steph have a wonderful time in York, hope the weather inland is better than here on the coast. Hugs to all in pain.

  22. GM Sue - love this - I have never tried the triple stamping technique but I will. Wondered if I could ask you and Wilsonettes advice on something - A4 card storage – what’s the best way to store this? I have built a collection of various colours and types (plain and patterned) and it’s on a shelf of a bookcase, most in its original packaging comprising of cardboard boxes and clear plastic wrap but am finding I dont really know what I’ve got! Was thinking of getting it out of the packaging and filing it flat in a drawer unit in colours – plains together and patterns together within each drawer/colour. I am hoping this would make it more accessible and I could easily see what I have – but it’s alot of effort to sort if it doesn’t! Hence advice please would be welcomed. How do you store yours I wonder?..

Bit of a soggy start here to the Bank Holiday but it should get better later they say - so ironing calls yet again - it just never ends! Happy BH all

Superb card I have tried this technique and it turned out brilliantly. I thought it would be hard but it wasn't so thanks for the idea.
    Congratulations to Carole.
Clare W I went to an office supplies shop and bought some sets of drawers. Sorted out all my cards into colours etc it took me a long time but it's so worth it. I have labels on the front of the drawers so when I need a particular colour I can get it easily. The only thing is I've had to add some more drawers because there are more colours coming out that I don't have but need. We'll blame Sue for that lol

Clare fantastic idea to sort your card before it gets ruined. I store mine in A4 craft boxes which I have picked up at craft shows but I am sure you can get them on line. 94. Hi Sue, I remember this technique from one of your shows and promised myself to try it. I haven't yet, but maybe this is the kick I need so if I get some quiet time this afternoon I definitely will give it a go.
Clare W - the bulk of my paper & card is stored in Really Useful Box towers but I also have several of the A4 fold flat boxes (the sort that 'pop' together) that you can get from shops like B & M (I think that is Wilkinsons in England) for my specialist card and these stack quite neatly on my shelves.
Congratulations to Carole on winning the Wednesday wonder.

  95. Morning Sue, love this card would not have thought about using different coloured card. This a must try for me, as others have said, could be used for baby cards, men's cards etc.
Claire W, Ikea have narrow bookcases called Billy, they are just the right size for a4 paper and card and you can adjust the shelves yourself to make the most of the space. Hope this helps, take care everyone, Jess x

  96. Hi Sue & lovely blog ladies,
I love this card today, a great one for posting as it's not too embellished ! I think it's a great technique for everyone to have a go at too, you could do it with any stamp. Thanks Sue for reminding us of this technique, I hope that Florida is bathing you in sunshine, although we could bathe quite easily in the bank holiday weather here! It's raining, well it is here in Carterton anyway!
Congratulations Carole, it really does feel special to own one of Sue's masterpieces.
Clare W I keep my colour card in colour groups in plastic A4 boxes, I can see through the boxes for the colours I need, so you can just pull one off the shelf, it takes a good while to get your craft stash sorted conveniently, ribbon storage is one of my frustrations! Trouble is if things are shut away in drawers you forget you got them!
Mrs B, I don't work in Witney I'm afraid, the only place I have spent a lot of time at other than my home is the Nuffield Hospital in Oxford! Lol, we do often go into Witney though, so maybe we have crossed paths there, it would be lovely to bump into you though, I met Cameeli at Ally Pally and it was like bumping into an old friend, it was lovely!
I am pretty much stuck in the house 24/7 so chatting daily on Sue's blog is a lifeline really, feels nice to have so many friends!
    Hugs to everyone,
    Sandra xxxx

  97. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
I was amazed when i first saw you do this technique Sue as it produces amazing results and so different. I think that using a simple stamp suitable for a man would make a very original man card as we are always having difficulty with their cards. I love the colour scheme that you have used and i have the flower stamp from the last time you used it, so i will have a go when i can see my diningroom table again, which at the moment is piled high with everything. Hubby decided he wanted all the things that i had at the side of the cupboards moved so he piled it and everything else out of the stairs cupboard on the table. Help!!! I don't know where to start first as the whole room is upside down now. And i don't have under stairs cupboard to myself no, i have to share it with all the things i bought for the wee lass bottom drawer. Tell me how can you fit things from 3 cupboards into one tiny space as that is what has happened and just don't know where to start. MEN, sometimes i don't know where they store their intelligence (with the exception of male crafters as they would understand).
Tina, have i hope a nice day at the blessing, please try and enjoy it like your dad would want you to. He is there with you in spirit and in your heart and mind. Sending you some support gentle hugs to help you get through the day.
Steph, have a lovely time in York. Anne, i will hopefully see you at the show tomorrow at the Highland Show ground, just look for a daft mad woman on a scooter with a Lilac WOW badge with Sue roses on it.
Well we have it dry at the moment so i hope that it continues. The brain is went on strike again so i will say bye for now and take care my dear friends. Sending gentle hugs to our more fragile friends who need that wee bit extra, remember we, your blog family are here in spirit and keyboard for you,
    Love and crafty hugs

  102. Hi Sue. What a fab card today !! I really love it, and I really love the colours too !! I love natural / neutral colours. ( Autumn colours, including shades of green are all my favourite colours.) As others have said, I think it would make a great card for a man using a male themed stamp instead. I definitely must try this great technique. With Fathers Day approaching next month, I have two Father's Day cards to make and a male Birthday card too, so today's card is very welcome !! I always have so many problems when it comes to making men's cards !! I am now thinking about the masculine stamps I have that I could use. Thank you Sue for sharing another great card with us today.
I hope you and your family are keeping well. Lots of love to you and your Mum today, love Tres x x x

To all the Wilsonettes, I hope everyone has a good day today and a lovely Bank Holiday weekend !! Lots of love Tres x x x

    WOW "I Love this Card"
I can remember when you did a very similar technique on one of your Video Tutorial but using different Stamps and paper.
I Love The Chestnut and Milk Card Combination you've used, I have never tried this technique, I must give it a try as looking at this mornings Card, then watching the Video once again I think! I could achieve this?? May Be!!
I really Love The JustRite Stamp that you've used The Stitched Flowers (For me this set of Stamps when I first saw these, in the stores I thought NO! But When I see what you achieve with them has changed my mind) I Love the layering Fabulous Sentiment, Sue you Never Cease To Amaze Me With Your Fantastic Cards Your A True Artist And A Perfectionist.

  107. Hello Sue, This is a very clever effect and will be trying it out. I am on my own time now, as I make cards for my church and have just finished 125 cards for Charity.
On a family holiday next week so have ordered plenty of sunshine, then I will be trying out my list of " to try".

  109. Hi Sue,
    Hello all crafting friends!
I had forgotten about this technique Sue and it is so effective! I will definitely be giving it a try too. I don't have that stamp but will have a big search later on for a suitable candidate! I totally agree that it's a great idea for cards for men and children too. Maybe my older group of kids on Mondays could try this on Fathers Day cards. I will have to try it first - but providing I prepped them it may be possible! They love trying new things.
Clare W - storage of cardstock - all my card is in A4 boxes - well actually they are larger as you can get the card out without damaging it. Boxes are see through but labelled - pinks, blues/greens, etc. makes it easier to find quickly. Stacked on shelf above my craft table. Was really interested to read about drawer storage too. Sure that would be easier.
Dry here at the moment but not very bright.
Love to all and hope you have a good day whether crafting, gardening, or even trying to clear the dining room table, Norah! Hope Bouncy Castle stays dry!

  113. Hi Sue
Good to be home and attached to the blog again. Hoping your weather is better than I had in Indiana, lots of storms. I am going to try this technique this afternoon, I agree with many of the Wilsonettes it certainly opens up the opportunities for ever difficult male cards. The Justrite stitched flower is now at the top of the 'I need' list closely followed by the Applique flower stamps. Best wishes to all Wilsonettes and hugs for anyone in neeed

  135. Hi Sue, what a great card, love the different coloured layers and the stamp is to die for hehe. So perfect having you here cuz whenever I lose my mojo all I have to do is look at the creations on your blog and off I go again. Thank you for being you x x lol lynne m x x x

Poochies up reaaaallllllly early this morning ( how I wish I had their energy) so I thought as hubby snoring loud enough to wake the whole street not just me 'n' poochies I'd take them for a walk and let him sleep. Well off we went and not too bad until on the way back started to rain and as I am vertically challenged ( in other words short) my legs wouldn't keep up with poochies. We arrived home with me looking like a drowned rat, dried off poochies and set about breakfast , hubby comes downstairs and asks if fur babies had a walk . Yes I said and its raining. Oh is it he replies !!!! nothing gets passed my eagle eyed hubby not even my dripping wet hair!!!!!. What can I say between hubby and fur babies I don't stand a chance. x x x

  139. Hello Sue

Sorry i am a bit late today but enjoying a well earned break. I love the technique you have used it is so effective and very elegant.

    CLARE W.

In answer to your question I too found it a nuisance so I purchased 2 x 10 drawer plastic units A4 size with multicoloured drawers and I use one for card and the other along side for any embellishments, ribbons, gilding wax, beads, embossing powders and anything else that goes with that corresponding colour. So when I have a themed card to make I only need to pull out two drawers. I have never looked back.

Well done, Carole - to win a Sue card is on my wish list (haven't got enough wants for a bucket!)
Clare W - all variations on a theme - my card is in 2 x 5 stacking office filing trays (in - out - pending if you get the drift) only trouble is they are open so I just put a sheet of copy paper on top to stop the dust (and I specialize in that!)
