Congratulations

Hello crafters!  This one is by request from Janet today.  I started with the Cascading Fern Background by Justrite and inked it with Flake and Glitter Glue, stamping it onto white cardstock.  I inked it a second time with the Flake and Glitter Glue to extend the background.  Once stamped, I cleaned the stamp well with a Grime Boss wipe then gilded the stamped image with Calypso gilding flakes.  Using a rubit scrubit pad, I refined the image, removing the excess flake to bring the detail out on the stamped image.  I covered the entire background with a sticky self adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered the entire piece with Glacier Ice (similar to Iced Snow, but with a cylindrical shape rather than round), giving me a completed "Fire and Ice technique" for my background.  I created a frame using the Grand Decorative Labels One.  I used the largest die, skipped a size and then used the next size down to cut the first frame.  While in the die, I embossed it with the Illusion embossing folder (using the open folder technique so as not to damage the folder).  I cut another frame using the second and third largest dies and mounted it atop the larger frame.  I added mounting foam to the finished frame and placed it over my background and trimmed away any of the background that showed from beneath the frame.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it with Ancient Copper embossing powder and cut it into a forked strip.  I made three white rolled felt flowers of varying sizes by cutting spirals into circles of the felt then rolling them.  I seated the flowers on some white tulle with pearl strings.  I made two fancy stick pins and added them as well.  I finished the card by adding a double white mat and pearls in each of the corners.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  30. Stunning Card! I love the fire and ice technique and the grand dies used ( I did buy 3 new colours of gilding flakes yesterday but I couldn't find the grand dies like this set) I also love the felt flowers in any of the styles you make as there's just something special about them! I also like the pins but never use them as I worry about people's fingers being pricked by them( silly probably) .
Norah the one stand I didn't go to was the clay one as I didn't want to be tempted into any more mediums to play with, as it have yet to use my melt pot etc. that I bought last October, isn't that just typical ! also I didn't get there till later than I meant to ,it was 11:30ish when I got in, never mind we'll make better arrangements for next time.
On our way back to Gairloch this morning, looks like it'll be a nice run home, but we had a lovely time with our grandchildren, Archie will be eight on the 2nd June and Marsaili is 5 and a half.
    Hugs to all xo

  71. Hi Sue. Morning Wilsonettes. A lovely big THANK YOU to those friendly friends that sent messages via our blog re my daughters hen party. She looked lovely and very happy (boy did I see some sights) although she did have a theme 'Mad Hatters' Im delighted she didnt pick a 'tarty' theme as the majority of Hens looked like they were out to show as much as they could ! Call me a snob if you like, or frumpy, Im neither, but our girl wore a beautiful dress and looked classie. It was very wet and cold Saturday evening, which for me was particularly hard. Yesterday her past collegues that couldnt get rooms in our hotel came and joined us for breakfast which I thought was a lovely jesture, as they couldnt join us for our Sunday Mad Hatters Tea Party at a very powsh hotel, 5* in fact, for a 1* star lookin MOTB as the rain clouds just burst and immediatly stuck my hair to my head !! I felt awful and felt such a mess, but the tea party had almost an Heston Bleumenthall touch to it, it was magical and outstanding. Id reccommend it to anyone in York at the end of each month, as I would the dungeons if you want the fun factor with an element of ' ooooo what's going to happen now' jump out of your skin moments !
I have just looked in at yesterdays card but no comment as I thought it unfair just incase I was chosen and not actually left a 'true Sunday comment' but it was stunning Sue.
Although my brain just wants to sleep and doesnt want to have to join in with life today, and my body feels like the Tin Man from Wizzard of Oz, I have managed to come up with a tital or 2 for todays magnificent gift, my 1st was - that really IS the American dream, that background is just stunning Sue. And my second I feel is the American Beauty - WOW. The most beautiful flakes shimmering beneath the ice, amazing, thank you to our own American Beauty for ALL you offer us apart from your work of art to your generosity and friendship.
Well, I'll be suprised if this message gets through as time usually runs out and our blog stops working for me ( see, I know what I mean but my brain cant put it down so you will understand) hohum.roll on bedtime, Im totally wiped out lol !

Love and friendly hugs to you ALL.

  92. Hi Sue. I love today's card, it is beautiful !! The Grand Decorative dies made into frames are just fab !! I love the look of the Justrite cascading fern background stamp with calypso gilding flakes. The Calypso flakes are on my wish list as I love the beautiful little specks of green in them !! I also have my eye on the Mulled wine flakes too !! Next payday hopefully. Your rolled felt flowers look great and your stick pins are beautiful Sue. I think another item for my wish list is the Ancient copper embossing powder. Looking at it close up it is such a lovey colour !! My problem is I keep buying Sue Wilson die sets and then I don't have any money left for any crafting essentials !! Is it just me or does anyone else do that too ?

To Lynne M and Tilly and Cully, I love to read your wonderful stories of your beautiful little doggies. Please don't ever stop bringing them to us. They always make me laugh and smile every day. My cat is just as loony as my two dogs !! He mostly stays upstairs while the dogs stay down stairs, but he does come down whenever he wants to and that is when he assumes the roll of "the boss" !! He is such a funny old cat and when he wants to play he runs around like a loony, just like a dog would !!

  101. Hi Sue
Hello also to all crafting friends.
I remember this card Sue and in fact bought the stamp because of this card! The stamp is beautiful and so clear.
I was really pleased to see it in detail this morning as I can't seem to get the ratio of glue/ flakes right on a big stamp. Will try again. Maybe I was too mean with the glue.
The fire and ice is truly amazing.
A really stunning card a as Steph says an American Beauty - which as yet for me is still a Dream!
Steph so pleased you enjoyed your daughter's Hen Party. I know what you mean about seeing some sights - I'm no snob either . However it is so nice to see a bride who looks lovely and is dressed appropriately! I don't do tacky either but you brought your lovely daughter up to be just the way she is - be very proud of that . Hope you not completely tired out! X
Pam pleased you having lovely time with the twins. x
Lovely sunny day here. Hope it's nice where you are !
Jess sorry you're not so well - hope you feel lots better soon.

  113. Hi Sue, stunning card, love the gilding flakes. The cascading fern background is definitely a statement piece. A card to brighten anyones day. Lol lynne m x x x

Fur babies not too bad during the day yesterday annoying hubby for a change . Well bedtime came so up we all go . Within minutes hubby is snoring happily away stretched out the length of the bed. Did I get any sleep no cuz the pesky poochies decided to lay across the bed on my side leaving me hardly any room to move. Trying to move them was like moving 10 tonne trucks and they can sleep through gales so waking them up was a no go. So there was me, head on pillow the rest of my body was at an acute angle with legs hanging off the bed. Kept thinking I'll go downstairs on the settee but couldn't move cuz the poochies had the quilt weighted down. Hubby couldn't understand why I was tired this morning!!!. From now on I'm going to bed first to make sure I get some space on the bed. x x x x

To all my friends here on the blog massive hugs and lol x x lynne , Tilly and Cully x x x

  114. Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Stunning, stunning, stunning! I love this technique and I was so pleased trying it for the first time as it came out lovely. Thank you for the instructions Sue! It was well worth the flakes clinging everywhere! Lol! Just need to have some more gilding flakes.....love the calypso one...and the Mulled wine sounds lovely too! The Cascading Fern background stamp is lush, along with texture and shine of the Glacier Ice. Be still my beating heart! Lol! xx
Steph, glad you had a great time at the hen party despite the weather! xx
Jess, hope you get well soon hunnie xx
Julie Laz, you take care too xx
Lyndsey, terrible that those who had booked a lesson didn't cancel and your poor horses had to stand around all tacked up just incase they came. It doesn't take much to think and pick up the phone....xx
Pam, I knew two sets of twins at school (a long long time ago!) and neither of them looked like each other. But at my workplace years later the twins there were the spitting image. It does fasinate me when I do see twins though x
Sending hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are sad and hurting and could do with a loving one today xx
Thank you Sue for your wonderful inspiration and a lovely time with your family xx take care everyone and hope you're having a lovely day xx Love Karen xx

  115. Good afternoon Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Reminds off leaping flames that tell a story in the fire. See sad childhood that had a very active mind that worked overtime in imagination. A beautiful card Sue that just brings back happy memories of long ago, thank you.
WHAT SHOP and WHEN are you coming to GLASGOW, pleaseeeeeee tell. Anne, i will look forward to that meeting with pleasure flower as it would be so nice to be able to meet some of the lovely people that i feel i know and yet haven't met. I hope you had a lovely time seeing your grandchildren after the show Anne. Annie i hope the teeth were worth taking out the 2nd mortgage on(well near enough with the dentist prices nowadays). Jess, i am sorry you are feeling under the weather. The show was good, but i'm knackered today as well from it. But maybe the next time Anne, you and me could meet up for a coffee and a chat, because that would be nice. Steph, i am so pleased that you and your "little" girl had a weekend to remember. Although you are tired today flower, i hope it is a happy tired because you had fun. It was a lovely gesture of her former workmates to come and see her.
We have got the not so nice rain across the Hillfoots and hubby is off so of course everything has to be done today as there isn't another day coming. I just wish he would realise that i am absolutely not worth a shirt button part of the way through doing what has to be done yesterday, know what i mean. I am starting to see my table again though so i must be coming close to the finishing mark (i can hope). Take care dear friends and special hugs to our more fragile of friends, you are always but a thought away. Hope that the sun is shining on you today and if not, i hope it is inside you.
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  137. Hi Sue,
Really sorry but this one doesn't work for me I'm afraid. Still it wouldn't do for all of us to like the same things all of the time. Steph pleased you had a good time in York and hope that you getting very wet hasn't left you with a cold. Lynne - been there! We used to have a border collie who decided to sleep across the bed and it was impossible to move her! With Scamp it's not as bad and I have been known to turn over and lift the duvet and send her flying across the room poor little thing! Been lovely day here today even though forecast was for rain. Managed to get my 4 hanging baskets potted up at last. Love to everyone Alison xxx
Ps Jess sorry to hear you haven't been well, hope you make a speedy recovery.xx

  138. Hi Sue,
The Cascading Fern stamp is lovely and so detailed, I've tried it with some gilding flakes and it's gorgeous. Amazing how such fine details are picked up with the flakes. Nice to see older dies used again too, sometimes it's easy to forget the oldies when there's so much new stuff about.

Really busy today sorting everything out for next weekend as we are going abroad so as not to be here a week Saturday on what would of been our sons wedding day. Our motorhome will be full but hopefully it will be easier if we are all away. I know the little ones don't understand but it will help entertaining them. Steph glad you had a good weekend.
