Hello my crafty friends! I know I am not supposed to have a favourite, but this background from my Spanish collection is just lovely. I just really like the leaves around the edge, the pretty embossed detailing and the trellis in the centre, so pretty and delicate. All of the backgrounds have been designed without an outside cutting edge so you can determine just how large of a border you want to use. I cut the background out of milk coloured card. I decided to do some piercing around the edge of the border on the background then I mounted some foam around the edge to raise it for dimension. I decided to go tone on tone and used another piece of milk card behind it. I stamped my sentiment from the Creative Expressions Bold Sentiment set using the Eggplant Adirondack pad and cut it into a banner. I matted it with matching cardstock and added it across the centre of the background from the left. Using my Classic Rose dies, I made several dimensional felt flowers using the aubergine felt from our Vintage felt pack. This is a fun technique that I do show in several of the upcoming videos. I tied a messy bow out of chalk seam binding, added a bakers twine bow and seated my roses across my banner. I added some pearl piping around the edge of the border that I found on one of my craft shopping sprees in the States. I finished the card with a milk mat that I decorated with some Cosmic Shimmer PVA pearl glue dots and then a matching eggplant (aubergine) coloured mat and a final milk mat. Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x
Beautiful Sue. The background is stunning.

Doreen x
Love the card today and your Spanish collection is I think my favourite.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteOOOOh what a lovely card today Sue, not that you don't always give us beauty each day, but the background die really does make a beautiful card. I have and it's all your fault the whole Spanish collection as it is my very favourite and i was bad at the SECC show. I know you do not intend it but i love how your photographs show up in different colours on my computer screen, so i have the original at the top - Black and Cream, I have a beautiful Blue and White further down and somewhere in between i have a gorgeous Mauvey/Violet. All equally as lovely and lets me see what it would be like in a few other colours too. Please don't try to always change the pictures so that they are perfect as this way it gives us different looks as well.
A bit cream crackered as Tina was after her marathon MOB try out. I am so sore after yesterday's onslaught that i dont't know which part needs renewing the most. Why is it when you have someone coming and your family know this that they decide to leave everything they possibly can at their butt. So between going up and down the stairs(which is never good at the best of times) hoovering with something that is so unwielding that it refuses to go where you need it to, the neck now makes me look like Quasimodo again. Because of the breaks to the back over the various falls down stairs and such like, the back of my neck swells up when it goes out of place and scares everybody that see's me. I normally go around lifting one shoulder going ahar, ahar, ahar as it's not the first time a child has seen it and went screaming to it's mother, so now the hair is long just to cover the neck and back. The first child that did that upset me that much i had to go home in tears, so the hair down is the better move, no upset children or me, just painful. It's normally when i meet up with someone i haven't seen in a while and they decide to pat me on the back during giving me a hug. Why do they always manage to hit just the wrong place on the wrong day? Never mind.
Tandy i am sorry to read your mum has taken ill again, i truly hope she is up on her feet again soon, but try and take it easy as you being knackered is not going to help her and it can take it's toll on you.
Tres, sorry poor wee Fudge has lost his sight, but if you leave the places that he knows how just as they have always been it will be amazing how quickly he will be going around just as he was before. I am hoping that he his a wee boy and if not sorry wee lass.
Cameeli, swimming is said to be the best exercise when you have an injury. Crikey, i thought gardening was supposed to be good for you and the environment and in " these times of austere ecomony"( the voice goes low and gruff for that bit)hee hee. Take it easy with the training for the Olympic's though, o aye it's the Mother of the Groom Wedding not the olympic's. I think you must putting in about just as much training as the athletes though.
Myra, i think i must haven't went right out and definitely lost what i had left of memory but what outfit was i getting as the brain still hasn't returned from its holiday and mountain rescue say there is no hope of finding it now as it has been too long since it was last seen.
I will go and stop annoying you all now, but i think this going to be one of those days that nothing i take will touch the pain somehow. Hope to see you all tomorrow,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (they've pinched my hills again Glenochil)
Missing Pam and Cameeli at the top of the blog today, hope you are both as ok as you can be x

Such a beautiful card today Sue, love the roses.
ReplyDeleteToday was Tim's funeral and it has been a hard day for me but I am so grateful for all the kind loving comments. I didnt want anyone to worry about me not being on the blog today. Thank you Steph, Norah, Tina, Tres, Cameeli and everyone who I havent named (my memory is to pot at the moment) but I know who care.
Hello Sue. How great to see this die close up. I have bought a few and they all cut beautifully. Lovely flowers too. xx Maggie (better without a bow)
ReplyDeleteHi sue,
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, Bless you, you've had quite a day! Trust everything went as well as these things can. You will have tough days ahead but you'll get through it. My thoughts and prayers are with you this evening.
Trust you sleep well, love ,Myra x
Hi Sue, a really lovely card today with one of your dies - hurrah! Have to admit I did find strings of pearls after you last showed them (on a snowflake card) but haven't used them yet - for the life of me can't remember where I got them from.
ReplyDeletePam, I'm late today for various reasons and was concerned the further down I scrolled and no message, then finally came to yours. SO sorry, you must have had a very hard and sad day and do feel for you. Sending big hugs.
Tres, sad to hear about your dear Fudge and hope you can have a successful op in time. In many years of loving animals, we've had both blind dogs and cats, the trick as Tina said is to not move anything around and they soon adapt. Our last blind cat, Mr Morph, we lost before Christmas and he knew how to jump on and off a table, balance walking on the back of a sofa, and even jump from sofa to chair - truly remarkable - and he lived to be 16!! A real darling.

Hellooooo Sue and all the Wilsonettes! Stunning, stunning stunning Spanish die. It's just beautiful. I so wish.....Love the felt flowers and so glad that you will be doing a few videos on how to do them along with a lot more things. Plus I know that you would have a stampede on your hands for those pearls that you got from the states. Ooooo they are just lush and really give the card another added "wow" factor to what it's already got! They would do very well here. But then Moyra P says she's seen the on Julia's store.... Thank you for all you do Sue. Even if we can't afford the dies, you give us ideas on how to use what we have got. "Wow!". Kitty, hope you've had a good day too x Debra, dont wury abowt the speling we just tipe how it sownds! Lol! Sarah hope your daughter is on the mend x Norah, eeee ecky thump duck. I can understand where you are coming from "when people don't think". You are an inspiration on how you keep going and coping with how you are. Love your spot on the blog. You're a daily fix! I know what you mean about doing the low and gruff voices though, ditto! Me thinks we were meant to go on stage and do films.....As for your brain I wouldn't believe a word! I bet they've auctioned it off and now that mystery buyer has got something priceless....well they'll never find another one like it eh? That's what you call unique....!! Tandy, hope your mum is ok x Brenda, hope your grandsons ok too and you and your husband x Beryl, my husbands got fibromyalgia too. It's been eight years now. Just suddenly crept up on him daily, bless him x Oooooo Ros, I know what you mean about crafty stuff. We've not long had to have another display cabinet so I can put it in there. Now I just pack it away and lock the doors! Enjoy your wonderful 32 day cruise! Wonderful! Hope the sunshines.....and for us here too everybody! Been a bit chilly here in Staffordshire today with a bit of rain. The heating has gone up! But then what a lovely show of daffodils, crocuses and cherry blossom we've got. Take care everybody! xx Love Karen xx Oh good luck all on the Wednesday card giveaway. See you all Thursday sometime xx
ReplyDeleteOh Pam sending lots of love and hugs to you, Tina, Norah, June and anyone else who needs them xx Love Karen xx

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteSorry to use you like this but i didn't realise what day it was until now for Pam. Pam, flower, the hardest & worst part is over> Don't try to be brave or put on a show because you think no one will want to know, but they do and they will for however long it takes and that you need us, your family and your friends. We hurt because you hurt and we would do anything possible in the world to change what you are having to go through, unfortunately we can't change your tragedy or the fact that for you it will be a long hard road, but please know that your virtual friends are here anytime you need us. I can't hug you but i am sending one your way. I hope the dark days ease and you see the blue skies again soon,
Love and a big crafty hug

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely beautiful, flowers are stunning I look forward to watching you demo them. I said Paul, what would you like as a present on the day our daughter gets married. He replied " Is that the norm then " I said I would like to mark the occasion with something. He said, OK does that mean I have to buy you something. I immediately said that would be nice and shoved a list of your dies in his hand, and you don't have to buy them all. ( did I do well, or was it a bit sneaky ).
Pam, I did look for your blog today, and did wonder, and when I read your message I thought today is the worst day for you as it is just so final. Tomorrow everyone else's life will go on the same and you just feel so alone, even when people are around you. I don't know if it is of any consolation, but everyone here on Sue's blog have been thinking of you, and send you so much love and hugs, you should start to feel really smothered and if you do, expect it for a long time to come. You are in my thoughts tonight Pam, God bless and keep you safe.X Sorry it might not have made too much sense, but it comes from the heart.
Kind regards :-)
Tina X

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteI do hope you don't mind but when I left my note this morning I noticed that Pam had not been to visit. I have just checked back now and seen her note.
Pam you have been in my thoughts today, now I know why, you have had one of the hardest days of your life to endure. Please know we are all thinking of you and will be here if there is any help we can offer, now or in the future you only have to say. Just take things one day at a time, when you have a difficult day it will only be one day and there will be a whole new day not broken into when you can face things afresh. You are in my thoughts and prayers do take care.
With love and a good night hug.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteCan I please just send a message to dear Pam? Just been reading through the comments and saw that it was Tim's funeral today. That must have been so hard and so final for you. I hope that everything went as well as it could. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I think Norah has summed up all of our thoughts. Take care and God bless. Alison xxx

ReplyDeletethis is a seriously special card. Love the colour combination, the die is gorgeous - how clever not to have an outer edge - the flowers are beautiful, and oh, that fantastic pearl piping.
