Just For You

Good Sunday Morning all!  I found this one still waiting to be posted in my draft folder so I thought it should finally get it's day!  This card showcases my High-Low technique which I really enjoy doing and demonstrating too.  I started with a piece of our pretty Chestnut brown card which I covered with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Using the Squared mask, I rubbed my clear Perfect Medium pad all over the back of the mask and placed that side down on my brown card once I exposed the sticky adhesive sheet.  The ink just helps to keep the mask from really sticking to the sticky sheet, allowing it a bit easier to remove.  I used Bronze Polished silk Glitter and burnished it into the exposed sections on the background.  I tapped off any excess and lightly dusted the mask with a tissue before carefully peeling it up.  Now the part that was covered by the mask is exposed and sticky so I covered that part with Iced Snow crystals (giving me the "high" part of the technique).  I used the Grand Square dies to cut a frame and I mounted it on foam over my background.  Using the Gold Facet die, I cut two of them for my focal element and offset them in the middle of the frame.  I stamped my sentiment in coffee Archival ink and cut out a round brown frame for it using the Gold Circles.  I mounted it on small foam pieces for dimension.  I matted and layered with a pierced white mat, then a thin brown mat before adding a final white mat for my card.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.

    morning Sue
What a fantastic gift for those awkward males in our lives.
The colour is so bold but the format offsets that. I have never tried using masks although I do have a couple of them and get them out now and again; look at them and then wonder how to use them and so back they go into the cupboard. I really must come out of my box and give them a try.
I really cannot believe that I have just seen my name listed in this week's winners and have had to go back twice just to make sure that it really is me. I am so excited.I shall be meeting the postman expecting him to have an envelope just for me.
Congratulations to all the other very lucky winners.

  72. Hi Sue. WOW !! I really love this card today !! This is just perfect for a man's card. I love the mask and the high / low technique you have used. I don't have any of the new white glitters but I love to use the masks I have with other colours of glitter. My hubby bought me quite a few different colours for Christmas. (The polished silk ones.) They always come out looking great !! The masks are the perfect size, if, like me, you love to make 8" square cards. I have the grand square dies to and love to use them for matting and layering but they are great for making frames to !!
I love the colours you have used Sue. The Chestnut brown and cream card, and the bronze glitter all look fab together. I like the look of the gold facet dies to. They look very pretty.

Congrats to ALL winners today, far too many for my poor single brain cell to remember, but enjoy your gift : )

So, Sue, high low - you DO realise I, Lancashire Steph reads your blog ! I have enough trouble keeping those pesky guilding flakes under control, and now you think I can have a bash at high low ? TWO things to make me growl ay ? If its taken 4 attempts just to read it and try and picture me doing it in my minds eye, then what chance do I have in doing this technique so it doesn't end up looking like something a cat has has bought back ! Maybe its a good job I dont own any masks then I wont and cant be tempted to sound like Marg Simpson !!!
Talking of GF's its time to open the dreaded door where they lie in wait, ready to snigger and jear at me ! Well, they have NO choice, I have a pretty cross just waiting for them to hop onto for Easter cards I need to make ready for market ( if ONLY I had the new Easter Bunny stamp set) from your recent visit, maybe I should drop a BIG hint for Mothers Day : ) although I think it will take a bolder size hint, as my 'little girl' has her wedding gown to pay for !
Is it ok to drop a hint to a husband to buy a MD gift ? After all, it takes two to 'tango' as the saying goes : 0

Well Cameel have fun at your allotment, get ready for our orders hon.

Sending love and gentle friendly hugs to anyone that needs a hug today.
In my thoughts Pam, Tina, and to anyone having the worst time ever for what ever reason.

  115. Hi Sue and Greetings to all your followers from the sunny South Coast of England,

Should really be in the garden to make a serious onslaught on brambles and shrubs that have invaded my space, need waders, though, to get near any of it!
If that isn't a good enough excuse to just soak up the sun, what is?
As usual, Sue, today's card is just lovely, browns and cream are such warm colours. Thank you for sharing the detailed instructions.
To Beryl and Nana Tina I say thank you for your birthday wishes yesterday, which brought me a lovely day with my children and grandchildren, now long since grown up. I hope you, too, celebrated your BD and Wedding Anniversary in style.
I will think of June Horrocks next week with warm memories of my own wedding in 1958, and wish you and your Husband a lovely day,
    such an achievement to celebrate!
Be strong, Pam. I am with you every morning at 6. Let time ease your grief.
Lots of Love to you all, and congratulations to all you luck people, feeling Sue's boundless generosity.
    Hugs, Lis xx

  116. Hi Sue,
    Hi Everyone,
Now Sue, I do hope you won't be upset or offended as I'd never knowingly do either of those things to you - but when I first looked at today's card I thought - remove the sentiment and put PRESS there instead and you had something that looks so like our door bell push when I was a little girl ! It was lovely - never had one like it since!
I don't have any round dies - strange - but one of yours is on my list! Lovely card !
No sun in this corner of Lancashire so can't send you any Frances! Sorry! Norah will bring her own sunshine to the SECC!
Pam , we miss you and are thinking of you!
Enjoy the sunshine if you have it!
Love to all, Myra. Trust yesterday went well Sue.

  118. Hellooooo Sue and all the Wilsonettes! Ooooo what a great card for a male! I have the odd mask around the place but (shame on me...) haven't even tried them yet! Love this example of how to do this technique. Thank you Sue for this jolt of inspiration! x Linda (Brock), I hope the cpap machine your husband is using is making a big difference in his life. Yours too....Hope you have a great day Norah and that you will bump in to some of the family Wilsonettes. Nanna Tina, happy belated birthday and anniversary wishes to you! Congratulations! Moyra P, it is a wonderful isn't it? Knowing that you have so many friends there for you is sooo comforting. Julie Loz, what an inspiration you are considering what you have been/are going through! So glad that you have found strength and determination from the words "Lessons In Life". A big "thank you" goes out to you Sue for adding them again. It has certainly hit a few hearts. Heartfelt prayers, hugs and love I send out to all of the Wilsonettes who are going through heartache and illnesses...... x
Congratulations to all you lucky winners! Wonderful! enjoy your prize! xx Love Karen xx

Hope Norah is having a great time at SECC craft show and not causing too much havoc. Pam we are all thinking of you, and everyone who needs comfort, take care. 157. Hi Sue, it's later than normal for different reasons, but I could NEVER let a day pass without leaving a comment on your Fabulous Blog, I Truly Love today's Card I Love "The Richness" of "The High And Low" technique it looks and feels so tactile, it's like all The Fabulous things you bring to us The different ways of using Guiding Flakes until your products came along I just could Never use them! And boy do I Really Love my Micro Beads, so back to Today's Card I Love the Brown and the Cream Card together, and how you have offset your "Gold Facet Die" I Love that Sentiment in the centre the script and the wonderful flourish, is this one of yours. I wish to say I was mistaken yesterday I mentioned I'd seen six of your new Embossing Folders when it's only five I just saw new at the bottom of them all, then when I checked today one of them hasn't got new what makes it worse I've got all your previous A4 Embossing Folders, and it's the one I thought was a new one Lol!
Take Care Sue, Love and hugs from Sam x
To all the wonderful Wilsonettes I do hope you're all well, Pam take care. Congratulations to the winners enjoy

I didn't go to the secc as a few crafty ladies I know said it was very dissapointing. Unusual I thought so I used the admission cash an train cash to buy stuff from the local craft shop instead lol

  162. Good evening Sue,
todays card is going to take me a few views as the brain still hasn't returned from its extended holiday and has sent absolutely no word of when it is coming home. I will look again tomorrow when hopefully i will be a bit more awake. It seems alien somehow and not a you card without all our telltale Sue additions. I'm sure though that it not being adorned with all our Sue accessories it will appeal to most males.
Welldone all of this weeks winners, as i know you will enjoy your prize when it arrives.
Well, i made up my "WOW" badges , one for the front of my bun and one for my cardigan. I got quite a few wee smiles but no one came up to me as a Wilsonette. But undeterred Sue i kept trying so if anyone recognises the eejit they saw today in the scooter please say hello the next time, i dn't bite honest. Had a great time though and i got a few more of your dies Sue as they were just staring longing to be picked up. They just didn't like hanging around and everyone passing, so they put on their pleading look, how could i say no when they were looking so forlorn. Had a great day and cheered up such a lot of faces, so it was worthwhile. Sstupid here made them up and then had to do the outfit around them.
Goodnight everyone and see you tomorrow hopefully,
    love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  167. Hi Sue

This card would be awesome for a man when you don't quite know what they like... Whilst it is rather decorative, its safe and unoffensive. Definitely one I would send to a man rather than a woman - although i'd rather save on the glitter. No man is geting a card with that much glitter on lol!!
