Spanish Background

Morning all!  I think this is my favourite sample from the Coffee Cup set from Justrite.  I absolutely love the Background die from the Spanish Collection and I think it makes a beautifully detailed background for this card.  All of the backgrounds in my new die line have been designed without an outside cutting edge.  The reason for that is so you can decide just how wide of a border you would like for your project.  I love to mount backgrounds up with foam and sometimes there is very little room to do this easily.  I cut this background and left a nice border, enough room for both mounting foam and a pierced edge accent.  I ran a bead of Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue around the edge and sugared it with Iced Snow for a little bit of bling.  I stamped my sentiment using a black Archival ink pad and cut it out with the California Collection Decorative Frames Set B.  This is another of my favourites as it is large enough for just about any sentiment or stamped images, but has a really pretty decorative edge to it.  While still in the die, I inked it with Shaded Lilac distress ink.  I do have to say that in real life, this card matches nicely but lavender and purples sometimes photograph as different shades of blue so it does look like I have used a different colour for the coffee cut.  I stamped the coffee cup in black and coloured it with the matching Shaded Lilac Distress Marker and Tattered Rose for the flower and then fussy cut the image.  I mounted it with foam just below my sentiment.  I tied a messy bow with mauve seam binding and added a small pearl embellishment to the centre and two fancy stick pins that I made (I made a bunch of these in all sorts of colours so you will be seeing them quite often.).  I mounted the background over a piece of pale lavender card for just a hint of colour peeking out through the background.  A double white mat with a pierced inner frame finished off the card.  This is just the sort of card I would love to give or receive!  Finished dimensions are 6" x 8" in size.

Now to announce the winner of the new Creative Expressions project book!  The winner is:

Cinders61 (Gillian)!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your project book!  All for now, Sue x

Today's card is so pretty I love the background die and the fact that you can decide how thick you want the border to be. I'm waiting for set A and set B to arrive, hopefully they will come today. Your pins are absolutely beautiful and really finish off the card. I wrote you an e mail too but unfortunately it didn't get read out, I'll try next time. I only got to see the last half hour of your show because I had to go out and got stuck in traffic. Good job I recorded it, but I did get to see some of your gorgeous samples and a couple of demos. You are brave using a BLACK ink pad over your faux Joseph's Coat technique but it works lol. I will be watching the recordings later today but it was lovely to see you on our screens again.

  49. Hi Sue. This is another beauty! Love every element including your colour choice. Isn't it strange how the lilac/purples show as blue! I can understand why the background is one of your favourites. It really is perfect, and thanks for leaving the edge uncut, hadn't thought about why. Should have known there was a good reason shouldn't I : ) I loved the show yesterday, Debbie is such a great presenter, she lets you talk and demo as much as possible, your samples were and you managed to get a lot done in those two hours, thank you. I always wonder how many emails the show gets when you are on, I'm sure most of us Wilsonettes email in if we are able. I know I always do. The whole show would just be about emails if they were to read all of yours out Sue wouldn't it : ) Congratulations to Cinders61. Take care.

  51. Hi Sue,
I love this card - every single thing about it! The background is stunning and what a clever idea not to have a cutting edge on the die - on a very inspired crafter would have thought of that! Loved the shows yesterday and nearly died when you got the black soot ink pad out and covered those gorgeous colours but wow did it work. Have heard of Faux Jacob's Coat but never knew what it was! Well done to Gillian ( Cinders 61) -that is a fantastic prize. Love to all, Alison xx

  60. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
To all of yesterdays winners and Cinders today well done and enjoy your prize.
I like today's card with the colours and the background. The stamps that you have used are beautiful as well Sue, i can see why you have taken such a liking to them, especially the words. These could be for a few good friends of mine as it describes my thoughts of them to a tee. You can pick up where you left off from a good friend as if it were yesterday you last spoke to them. Sometimes life gets in the way of meeting up with them or calling them on a regular basis, but true friends don't look at what hasn't happened, they look at what has.
Yesterday i had a meeting with my bed unfortunately all day,but used the tablet thingy to send you a quick email that took 35 mins to type, sorry it was so brief, but couldn't get hands and brain to co ordinate together.
Hope everyone has a good day where they are as my hills have been pinched again with the weather and rain up here in Central Scotland.
Take care everyone and i hope to speak to you all tomorrow, when i am hoping that all my missing parts have returned.
    Love and crafty hugs

Can I be naughty and ask if you can put the faux Joseph technique at the top of your blog, I missed part of it as I was putting in my order which was big and included the ink pads and the coffee cup stamps.
Norah and Steph hope you are feeling better. Hello to Shirley T, glad that you appreciated my message.

  117. Hi Sue. This is such a beautiful card today !! I love everything about it. The coffe cup stamp and the sentiment stamp are just wonderful. What I really love is the amazing background die you have used. (The Spanish Collection one.) This is just gorgeous Sue. I read it does not cut around the edge to enable the crafter to make their own border or like you have done the pierced edge which I love so much !! You are so very clever Sue !! I just dont know how you think of all these amazing ideas. The other die set you used are the decorative edged borders B set. This is the next set of dies on my wish list !! The colour combo is also beautiful.
Your show yesterday was fantastic Sue. You only had two hours but you worked so hard to try and fit in as much as you could so I want to say a very big thank you for that. It was very much appreciated. The only thing I was disapointed about was I dont think there was enough time to properly show all the amazing samples you had worked so hard to make. I would have liked more time for this but then I appreciate you cannot do everything in the limited time you had.
I really loved the in the box technique with the Daisy stamp and I think this stamp is now going on my wish list. I also loved the Josephs coat technique but I think I would have stopped at the colourful stage and not covered it in black ink. (to much out of my comfort zone !!)
    Congrats to todays winner Gillian.
Lots of love to you Sue and all the Willsonettes. I hope every one is ok Love Tres x x x

Hi Cameeli, I have sent emails in too but they have said on there that even if they haven't read your email it goes in the spotty potty.... It was nice to see you Sue with Debbie. She's lovely isn't she? She takes a big interest in what techniques you are demonstrating.....the hardest part for me is remembering what you have done after 5 minutes...! Lol! It's the age thing again.....I truly love your stick pins soooo much, they are gorgeous. Will have to have a look on the internet for some beads and things. Hope everybody is okay. 138. Afternoon Sue and our LOVELY Wilsonettes.
1 - Welcome 1st time blogger to Sue's world so sorry I cant remember your name but you found Sue yesterday, you have now entered the world of bancrupcy (in the best way possible though) : )
2 - TINA - thinking of you and Little Miss Berkely SO much. Sending warm caring love hugs to you both.
3 - congrats to CINDERS on your win. Enjoy : )

Stunning, lush, outstanding and classie is all I can say about todays W.O.W. I have not managed to catch up with your show yesterday Sue, but I will later. Cant wait.
NO market yesterday. Lots of reasons, and our Sue was the 1st person I turned to, to unload my overload of emotions (sorry Sue) our daughter got us a rescue dog last Monday as she couldnt stand to see us sad and totally unhappy (before you WONDERFUL ladies burst on my behalf with excitement Im emotionally SHOT and DRAINED, confussed and tearful all in one massive go) hense didnt think it fair to put a nervous, dizzy, 2yr old 'young DIVA' through yet another new experiance so soon, to much for her just now, so I had to think what was best for her and put my need for an e-bosser to the back of my mind. Had to take my order to where the market is held to give to the lady as noway could I let her down, and even though it was cold the market was so busy, and my heart sank ! Hohum, this new 'addition' will be hopefully socialised with proper manners ready for the next market in March, in the meantime I will have lost both Mothers Day and Easter where I may have sold a few of each, but that's life I guess, and hopefully I will spend other Sunday's at market each month, and the new dog will have a happier life. I just need time to 'come round' but it was a complete shock !
Now I've board you all, I'll send Monday smiles to you all and wish for you Sue and Wilsonettes a happy day.
    Hugs.
    Lancashire Steph ( + 4 paws) !!!
