Kraft Lattice
Hello my crafty friends! Today's video will show you another way to create a unique background for your special card projects. I do hope you can take a few minutes to watch, relax and enjoy!

Good morning Sue I love this technique thanks for sharing. Although I like the black with Kraft card the blue is my favourite. The tip with the frame is brilliant and the embossing gives it a professional look. When I first bought the twisted metal dies I wasn't quite sure how to use them but you have given us some great ideas. At last I've been able to leave a comment on your video lol Hugs x Heather T

Beautiful cards - I like them both but prefer the one in black. But would also try this with a postbox-red or dark emerald green. Thank you for showing us so clearly, beautiful background and frames, must give this a go. You really are inspirational. morning Sue I love the colour scheme on both cards and agree today's gift is just perfect for the males in our lives. The focal die was one of the very first I bought when I started crafting with the Grand Caliber and it is always beautiful to use. The format of today's gift is fantastic - the basket weave and then the basket background looks superb. Will definitely be having a go at today's format. See you tomorrow. Janet x

Hi Sue Today's card is very striking. Like the other comments, I to think it would be good for male cards. Although anyone would be pleased to see your card. Morning Wilsonettes. Will be back later, but for those friends that know of Tina and Berkely, and not re-read any posts from yesterday, it's sad news. Berkely fell asleep at home yesterday afternoon. Tina was all alone so we sobbed and broke our hearts together over the phone. Thinking of you so much today Tina and family. Its such a very sad time. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes, What a difference a lighter colour makes to this card. The black with the craft is just not me, sorry Sue, but the pale blue is for me better looking and closer to what i may be tempted to make. It does make a nice card for a man or a tomboy woman (can you get that? mmmh not sure) but not every woman likes the sugar and spice cards. I have though finally order some of that craft card to try but it reminds me off cereal boxes. Having just seen Steph's entry at the bottom i am just so so sad. Tina my flower, i am sending you a big hug and my thoughts are with you. I hope that Berkeley is pain free now that she has left our mortal earth for pastures new that she is happy amongst the angels. Sorry folks, need to get myself back together again and get a grip as my hubby would say, but i can't the now, Love Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue Well you couldn't have done a better card so to speak for some inspiration for me as I have just found out a good friend of ours as had a major stroke and lost his speech eye sight and cannot walk and sadly lost his memory so this card I am going to take my inspiration from as we are going to visit him on Sunday, fantastic card thanks sue for the idea hugs sarah xx
Great card Sue - good to have a different style as not everyone likes all the frills and furbelows.
It may be that it just doesn't show up on the video but I don't see the point of the stamping. I suspect you'd have to see it in real life to see the difference it made.
I'm glad you let us see how to work with an error too. It happens to me far too often and it helps to see how you altered your design and what you did with the unexpected. Thank you. Alison

Morning Sue, Great video today. I love how you did the lattice work it's so effective. Out of the two colours I do prefer the blue if using as a get well card but otherwise they are both fabulous cards.

Good morning Sue Really like the woven lattice idea, but your tutorial on cutting frames to me has been invaluable, as I have had a few slips with mine! However I have found I can hide some slips by running the frame through the GC in an embossing folder! I do like how you have achieved the embossing on your frame it looks so elegant. Like the lattice technique, however the card is a little sombre for me, would love it though in pastels colours, however would be great for a male card

Hi Sue, Fantastic Video as always, I Really Love The Lattice effect Card using Kraft Card. I must say I liked both Colours but for me I Loved The Black One, I tried this technique a long time ago when I stuck it all together and turned it around right at the very end I'd gone wrong so I just stuck a Flower on its surprising what Flowers or Butterflies can hide Lol. I really love The Twisted Metal Die from Spellbinder and I also must purchase The Grand Dies for matting and layering I've always wanted to purchase the more Fancy Dies! I Love The Background, I Just Love The Embossing Folder, and the Fabulous Stamp using Perfect Medium since watching your Video's I've started placing my Card on top of my stamp rather than using a Acrylic (I think that's how you spell it!) especially with The Large Background Stamp as I was finding I couldn't Stamp them correctly, then you suggested once in using a Brayer to go over The Card well I had one I hadn't used for a very long time, so now I use this and it's perfect every time, Sue you're a Star and I can't Thank You enough for all information you share with us, Where else do you get Stunning Cards Everyday and Video's Twice a Week YES I'm very biased when it comes to this Blog as it's "THE BEST." Hi Sue and Wilsonettes. Have now caught up with both video's and as per very informative and gives us our Sue fix we all yearn for, as we just dont get to see enough of you elsewhere ! The last time you used Craft Card I vowed to buy some, but when I see it Im not sure, but as I dont buy my own cards, then I need to remember who I AM hoping to please, so again I must invest to play ! Both yesterday's and today's card are beautiful and today's card would be ideal for Sarah to give as it has that tactile feeling for someone who is strggling with loss of vision. It also made me feel better when it didn't 'work out as planned' as I have SO many oopsadaisy days, an I hear those pesky flakes laughing at me from behind the cupboard door (a quick shake of their box soon hushes them) ! One thing Id like to ask our family is - even after burnishing our micro beads well, do you find the odd bead escaping from its place, rolling around your work space looking towards the exit route ?? I work them well into whatever Ive used them on but always find a few not so happy to play even with adhesive paper hanging on to them ! Im sure Tina would be touched to know how many friends here feel her saddness and devistation today, and I know in time she will find the strength to post here again. And if you are popping in Tina, to get quiet support, we are ALL holding your hand through this angry sad time.

A good instructional video for an interesting technique that I haven't used in a long time. The embossing of the background makes for a more interesting feature on the card. I must get those twisted metal tags and frames.

You could use this background for for a altered mens card using metal embellishments and lots of distressing and stamping wow Sue thanks for all the inspiration. Lovely card xx

Another great technique shown really clearly in the video. As you say, it would be appropriate for a male recipient, but as always, you can vary your colours.

Hello Sue - very late with my comment today. Just finished a commissioned wedding card and used your lattice bows die - it looks just wonderful. When I've got a camera that works (mine bit the dust a few months ago) I will send you a photo. Away dog/housesitting for my daughter tomorrow until Sunday but hopefully they will leave their laptop so I'll have some internet. Wishing all the Wilsonettes a good week-end.X

I've got several male cards to make so thanks you for the inspiration, Sue. The basket-weave embossing folder is one of my favourites but I'd never have thought of using it to make a lattice in a month of Sundays. Haven't got any Kraft Kard so I'm going to try if with a manilla folder. Thank you for sharing the lovely poem Cameeli.

The tip with the frame is brilliant and the embossing gives it a professional look. When I first bought the twisted metal dies I wasn't quite sure how to use them but you have given us some great ideas. At last I've been able to leave a comment on your video lol

The focal die was one of the very first I bought when I started crafting with the Grand Caliber and it is always beautiful to use.
The format of today's gift is fantastic - the basket weave and then the basket background looks superb. Will definitely be having a go at today's format.

Morning Wilsonettes. Will be back later, but for those friends that know of Tina and Berkely, and not re-read any posts from yesterday, it's sad news. Berkely fell asleep at home yesterday afternoon. Tina was all alone so we sobbed and broke our hearts together over the phone. Thinking of you so much today Tina and family. Its such a very sad time. ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a lighter colour makes to this card. The black with the craft is just not me, sorry Sue, but the pale blue is for me better looking and closer to what i may be tempted to make. It does make a nice card for a man or a tomboy woman (can you get that? mmmh not sure) but not every woman likes the sugar and spice cards. I have though finally order some of that craft card to try but it reminds me off cereal boxes.
Having just seen Steph's entry at the bottom i am just so so sad. Tina my flower, i am sending you a big hug and my thoughts are with you. I hope that Berkeley is pain free now that she has left our mortal earth for pastures new that she is happy amongst the angels.

Great card Sue - good to have a different style as not everyone likes all the frills and furbelows.
ReplyDeleteIt may be that it just doesn't show up on the video but I don't see the point of the stamping. I suspect you'd have to see it in real life to see the difference it made.
I'm glad you let us see how to work with an error too. It happens to me far too often and it helps to see how you altered your design and what you did with the unexpected. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteReally like the woven lattice idea, but your tutorial on cutting frames to me has been invaluable, as I have had a few slips with mine! However I have found I can hide some slips by running the frame through the GC in an embossing folder! I do like how you have achieved the embossing on your frame it looks so elegant. Perfect for a male card.

I must say I liked both Colours but for me I Loved The Black One, I tried this technique a long time ago when I stuck it all together and turned it around right at the very end I'd gone wrong so I just stuck a Flower on its surprising what Flowers or Butterflies can hide Lol.
ReplyDeleteI really love The Twisted Metal Die from Spellbinder and I also must purchase The Grand Dies for matting and layering I've always wanted to purchase the more Fancy Dies! I Love The Background, I Just Love The Embossing Folder, and the Fabulous Stamp using Perfect Medium since watching your Video's I've started placing my Card on top of my stamp rather than using a Acrylic (I think that's how you spell it!) especially with The Large Background Stamp as I was finding I couldn't Stamp them correctly, then you suggested once in using a Brayer to go over The Card well I had one I hadn't used for a very long time, so now I use this and it's perfect every time, Sue you're a Star and I can't Thank You enough for all information you share with us, Where else do you get Stunning Cards Everyday and Video's Twice a Week YES I'm very biased when it comes to this Blog as it's "THE BEST."

The last time you used Craft Card I vowed to buy some, but when I see it Im not sure, but as I dont buy my own cards, then I need to remember who I AM hoping to please, so again I must invest to play !
ReplyDeleteBoth yesterday's and today's card are beautiful and today's card would be ideal for Sarah to give as it has that tactile feeling for someone who is strggling with loss of vision. It also made me feel better when it didn't 'work out as planned' as I have SO many oopsadaisy days, an I hear those pesky flakes laughing at me from behind the cupboard door (a quick shake of their box soon hushes them) !
One thing Id like to ask our family is - even after burnishing our micro beads well, do you find the odd bead escaping from its place, rolling around your work space looking towards the exit route ?? I work them well into whatever Ive used them on but always find a few not so happy to play even with adhesive paper hanging on to them !
Im sure Tina would be touched to know how many friends here feel her saddness and devistation today, and I know in time she will find the strength to post here again. And if you are popping in Tina, to get quiet support, we are ALL holding your hand through this angry sad time.

Arrived in Spain earlier today - nice to see some warm sunshine ! Unable to see video today as reception rather poor! However can see the photos and read! Agree with others who say these would make lovely cards for the men in our lives!

ReplyDeleteHelloooo Sue and fellow Wilsonettes! Wonderful to see the basket weave again Sue and in video! Lots of "pinning" to do when I get the hang of it......! It's a fantastic male card. A "live and learn kerb" to an error made good by a different way. That's me too.....(just the error! Lol!) As I don't comment on the Wednesday card Giveaway (For those who don't know me, I've been lucky enough to have won one!) I can now say it was a "wow" from me! Just gorgeous Sue, loving the pink! Just to say "thinking of you all" Norah, Sarah, Steph and Tina. Sending tons of hugs and love to you. Tina, thinking of you sooo much. Berkeley will always be around you and he'll be letting you know that he is there. Imagine that you can see him bounding in a big field that is full of daffodils, bluebells and wild flowers. You were so blessed with one and another. Eeee ecky thump nobody else would do! Do so so understand.........Hope you are okay Sue and managing to rest in your busy schedule. I don't know you do it! Another great technique shown really clearly in the video. As you say, it would be appropriate for a male recipient, but as always, you can vary your colours.

Gosh so new to all this and with Sue's help my first post on her blog.

Loved the watermark effect and then the emboss on the lattice work.

On a brighter note my best mate Mandy became an aunty twice today both ladies were having a section done! Can't believe on the same day. Different hospitals tho Her sister had a bouncing baby boy and her husbands sister a bouncing baby girl.

Hello Sue - very late with my comment today. Just finished a commissioned wedding card and used your lattice bows die - it looks just wonderful. When I've got a camera that works (mine bit the dust a few months ago) I will send you a photo. Away dog/housesitting for my daughter tomorrow until Sunday but hopefully they will leave their laptop so I'll have some internet. Wishing all the Wilsonettes a good week-end.X

Its amazing how a colour change makes a card so different. Both lovely, but I like the blue best.

I've got several male cards to make so thanks you for the inspiration, Sue. The basket-weave embossing folder is one of my favourites but I'd never have thought of using it to make a lattice in a month of Sundays. Haven't got any Kraft Kard so I'm going to try if with a manilla folder.
