Happy Friday crafters! I hope this one will put you in the mood for the weekend ahead! So bright and cheery isn't it! Plus I think we have had loads of birthdays this week on the blog so it seemed appropriate for today! Here's that gorgeous Justrite Butterfly once again, I just can't get enough of it! If you didn't see the demo of this one last week, here is your recap. I started with a piece of coconut white card and inked it using three Adirondack inks, Citrus, Wild Raspberry and Purple Twilight. The Adirondack Brights are more vibrant that the distress inks and that is why I decided to use them instead of my usual (and much loved) Distress inks. I applied them to the card using a piece of cut 'n dry foam and just did dots of colour all over the cardstock. Once I was happy that I had saturated the card with enough colour, I dried it well with my heat tool. This is a very important step so do make sure that it is very dry before proceeding. I even rubbed it with my anti static pad to remove any hint of moisture that may have been left. Next I inked the butterfly stamp from Justrite stamps using a clear Perfect Medium pad and stamped it three times, taking care not to overlap them. I embossed them with WHITE powder (this must be the first powder you use). Next I stamped the butterfly again in the same manner, but aimed for the open areas more. You can overstamp the white butterflies and this isn't a problem because this time, we are embossing with clear powder. If you do the clear embossing first, then the white powder will stick to it and ruin your piece. If the clear sticks on top of the white, you can't tell so it isn't an issue. You end up with a lovely textural look from the clear embossed butterflies, almost a ghost image. I decided to stop here as it was just too pretty. I matted it in thin mats of white and black. I made a flower using the Classic Rose die from my new die line and "sugared" it with Iced Snow. I seated it upon some white tulle and a black jute bow. On vellum, I stamped my sentiment from the Justrite Vintage Rose set using a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it in white. I cut it into a strip with a forked end and tucked the other end under my flower. To complete the card, I made a couple of stick pins using beads from my craft stash and the did some matting with piercing using both black and white cardstock for balance. I hope I will see that some of you like this one enough to pin it on your Pinterest boards! Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size. This one should get you in a cheerful mood, ready for the weekend ahead
A little reminder too, that Julia Watts has shows today on Create and Craft at 8am and 4pm with brand new (and quite lovely) stamps from Creative Expressions. Her demos will definitely get you inspired to do some crafting this weekend! All for now, Sue x

BUT I saw you demoing it on C&C and the one you did there (simply as a last step going all over it with a black inkpad) was MOST IMPRESSIVE, as was the result. Would it be possible to show that as a comparison to the one shown today?

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous gift to receive this morning - and I hope no-one will mind if I take this one just for me as it's my birthday today.Just another couple of years to go and I'll have reached my three score years and ten.
I love love the ghosting effect which made me look very carefully for it as I couldn't see it until I got to the close ups. The colour scheme is so bright and cheerful and we need that on this dull and foggy morning here in Sheffield.
Hoping to get some crafting done today. That's my birthday gift to me. See you tomorrow.

In my book Bright is Beautiful and I loved this card sooo much , although I didn't have the stamp or colours used in the demo I had a go yesterday, I just used a smaller butterfly stamp and Distress inks Raspberry Pink ,Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers and I am really pleased with the result, so thanks again Sue for the great card! Morning Sue, loving this card so bright and vibrant, thank you for every morning I have to look forward to, love Janet k xx
ReplyDeleteMORNING SUE
ReplyDeleteYOUR CARD IS SO BRIGHT AND FULL OF
COLOUR IT IS JUST GORGEOUS.
Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
ReplyDeleteJust know that it wouldn't behave like that for me with the alcohol inks. I would end up with a dotty mess, so will enjoy from a safe distance. The eyesight is not that clever to be able to pick up the muted butterflies in the top picture, but seen them on the close ups better and the white ones look lovely.
I can see that April must be a very busy month as we have a lot of lovely girls celebrating this week especially. I know that we have Debby who turns 60, and from the 60 years that i have seen, they look more like in their 40s. Ecco- Janet who is also enjoying her birthday today doing the best birthday thing every - crafting and hopefully getting peace to do so with out someone nagging about when is she going to tidy that rubbish away. If the brain was working right it would be able to remember our other girlfriends names that have all had or will have a lovely day. Enjoy girls, your only this age once.
I see yesterday that we had a couple of new girls enter our World of Wilson Terriavidreader from the USA and Aubluebell, a big welcome to the family of Wilsonettes girls, where we have the best inspirational teacher in the world.
What a beautiful poem that our one only resident poet put up for us yesterday. Cameeli, i don't know how you do it, but you know just the right words every time. It was just such a sad day with the news yesterday that normality just didn't want to come out. I do hope that Tina gets to read your lovely words and all the caring thoughts that we are sending.
Tandy, if your wee grandson looks out at the night sky, he can share the brightest star there with me. That is my brother, my dad, but it helps me to be able to still see them and have them close. It just might help your grandchildren come to terms with there loss as well. They can talk to it and no one will think anything of it, other than them getting some comfort that their beloved mummy can still see them.
Going to try (and that is the operative word here) to get some house work done so that i can craft later on. Hope everyone has a great day even though it is baltic out there and see you tomorrow hopefully.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
Absolutely LURVE this card. I must get the rose die. Thanks Sue.Mabex

Hello Sue and all the lovely Wilsonettes.
ReplyDeleteAs a family we have been overwhelmed by all of your beautiful heartfelt thoughts, prayers, love and much needed hugs. I personally have been moved by all the people that have left me messages on my email, and for Steph and Margaret for trusting me enough to give me their phone numbers and let me cry with them when my Berkeley dog went to sleep. It's so unreal to be talking about Berkeley like this and I thank you both so very much. Cameeli, I read your poem through tears and had to come back to finish reading it several times. It was so beautiful and it has given me more lovely ways to remember my much loved and devoted Berkeley. Thank you.
Berkeley has now been laid to rest in our garden, along with our other dog and 7 cats. We miss her so much. We can't quite bring ourselves to turn the light off outside at night, it's just too final.
I have to say a really Sincere Thank You to you Sue, for your email and for just finding the time in your busy life to send me such lovely thoughts and for allowing me to find such comfort on you blog, and also to find such special people there.
Love to all Tina XX

ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome!! I hope that you will soon be able to smile again, but know that we are all with you and hold you dear. It is at times like these when we all need to support each other in any small way we can. we don't have to know you personally to undertand your pain.
A big hug to you and anyone else on the blog that needs comfort.
Enjoy the afternoon its looking quite sunny.
Cameeli xx
I LOVE this card and the technique you used. I saw you demo this and the extra technique of adding black over the top. I'm going to certainly give this one a go. I do so love looking at your blog every day. I'm disabled so it's lovely to feel like i'm a part of the world by being able to visit blogs! Love Sarah
ReplyDeleteI saw this on C&C and knew then it is something really special. The background is so pretty but the way the butterflies pop is truly sensational. thank you for the step by step Sue - I will definitely be giving this a go. Pat x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, Just received my butterfly stamp this morning after seeing you demo today's card on C&C so can't wait to have a go at making a card. How brave, covering your beautiful background with black ink. Fingers crossed that mine will turn out fine but knowing me I'll have to pretend that it's a night time background so you can't see the actual butterflies. That will be my excuse anyway. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Crafty Hugs Pauline A x
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Sue and everyone.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with this as soon as I saw this in your show. I adore bright colours, as my blogging chums know, and this is one of my favourites you have ever done.
Have a super weekend.

Hi Sue and all lovely Wilsonettes. Happy Birthday to Janet and Debby. A warm welcome to our new Wilsonettes. And if Ive forgotten anyone's celebration today, Im so sorry. It was lovely to see you Tina. Take your time, cry when you need, I do, a year today, and it's just as hard as this time last year. Cameeli, I will read your poem in full, when I can. Do you ladies know HOW SPECIAL you all are ??
ReplyDeleteAnd its already been said but does it matter we dont 'know' each other, we all give care and support when needed, which is what helps make Sue's blog extra special in my mind.
I watched you demo this last week, and it's absolutly exquiset, bright and spring like.
Hope all you lovely ladies have a good day, and if your not so good today, my thoughts are with you, hoping tomorrow is a little better for you.
Hugs all round.

Helloooo Sue and the wonderful Wilsonettes! "Thank you" soooo much Sue for the instructions to do this beautiful card. I just loved how bright and cheerful it was.I did see you do it on C&C but it didn't quite go in the brain....It's an added sunshine on a rainy day though....Even though I haven't got a big butterfly stamp I will give it a go with a smaller one. I love the embossing on velum. It's so effective. I have done a few bookmarks this way which I hope to give to a church for funds. Some have a cross and some have the dove of peace and they look lovely. Just to say hope you have had a great birthday Debbie and Janet and happy anniversary to Shirley T! Sending heartfelt wishes to you Tina, Norah, Steph, Heather T and Sheila (Ginger). Cameeli, a beautiful poem and I know that words like those come from the heart....... Take care Sue and everybody, xx Love Karen xx

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis is a really beautiful card I love butterflies I am going to try this one when I am able to craft again. Norah thank you for your kind words. I have never made a scrap book but as soon as I can craft again I am going to make two for my grandchildren to help them remember their wonderful mummy as they are only 4 and 2 and if Cameeli doesn't mind I would like to put the poem in. Hi Sue what a great card. I tried it out and although it was not as bright and pretty as yours I was pleased with it. I sent in a picture of it with an email when you were on on sunday. Hope you got it, as it was not shown.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to all Wilsonettes whose Birthday it is. I might be being thick but how do you all know when it is someones Birthday?
Tina I know exactly how you feel, when our Sabre died I felt that I had to try and pretend to be OK because that is what is expected, when inside I was breaking up. I received a wonderful poem from a friend that held. If you would like a copy let me know and we can arrange how to get it to you. Just remember the two way love you shared.
Sue thank you for allowing people to communicate with each other and comment on other issues. You are an amazing loving person, not only in crafting.
regards
