Discover Your Wings

Happy Boxing Day my crafty friends!  I don't know about you , but I certainly ate way too much yesterday!  It was really nice, though,  to see that so many of you were able to take a few minutes to stop by the blog yesterday, I really appreciated that.  I selected this card today because I was in the Coleman's warehouse in Rushden on Sunday and happened to meet Ann, the lovely lady that won the card on C & C when I demoed it.  She had the card with her, in fact, and was bringing it in to show the staff there.  It really made my day to see that she was so chuffed to have won it!  Thank you Ann for giving it a good home!  It really is a very clean and simple styled card, and flat for easy posting!  I stamped my sentiment on a piece of coconut white card (it is from the Oops A Daisy set by Taylored Expressions) using a black archival ink pad.  Next I stamped the butterfly from the Taylored Expressions set called Discover Your Wings.  I made a mask out of a post-it note, covered the butterfly and then stamped two more, one on each side of the original, slightly overlapping the first one.  I coloured all three of the butterflies with Distress Markers, using a waterbrush to lighten the colours a bit.  I used a fine tipped black felt pen to dot a butterfly trail to the edge of the card.  I covered the card with a piece of sticky self adhesive sheet and trimmed it to the edge of the card.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered the entire card with Diamond Sprinkles for a soft bling to the card.  You can catch a bit of it in some of the close ups below.  I finished the card with a double white mat with a pierced inner layer.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  5. Morning Sue,
This Card is just Stunning I loved it when you Demoed it on Create and Craft, and those new Stamps from Taylored Expression are a delight I hope we see more of them, I really love The Diamond Sparkle it is so Elegant and using it with a sticky sheet the way you did was wonderful, as I really don't like Glitter Card because it looks cheap, but the way you use Diamond Sparkle looks Fabulous and definitely doesn't look cheap The Diamond Sparkle would wins every time .

    morning Sue
Now the hassle and bustle of yesterday is over today is a very very relaxing day and today's gift indicates just that.
Butterflies tell me that warmer weather is on the way and sunshine is just around the corner - something we all look forward to.
So as you can guess I just love today's gift. Gentle colours gentle format and it certainly is going into my box of 'must do' and file of 'less is more'.
    Sooooooo relaxing...............
Hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

  17. Morning Sue and all Winter Wilsonettes hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day. I see our room of friendship is full of 'piggies' today - *tut tut* Our day was quite different in a few ways - no cooking for me (1st time in 33yrs) as our future son in law cooked a wonderful lunch. Due to their wedding next year they didnt exchange gifts as they are funding the majority of the day. But we spoiled them as much as we could. Our Grand-dog looked very Christmassy with his red velvet ruffle type bandana and jingle bells - although his adopted moggie brother had other ideas and partied in a barn somewhere just so he didn't have to tollerate the same with his version of the collar (he has a reputation to keep I presume with the ladies) !! But by looks of the photo we received at 9pm his reputation was shattered !!! : )
I bet Ann couldn't believe her eyes when Mrs W walked into the warehouse ! And what a delightful card she won. I too watched this demo, it is surely a W.O.W (Wonder of Wilson) card, so delicate and fresh. I must admit, I went sticky adhesive and diamond sprinkles crazy this year ! Typed my sentiment, printed, cut with the middle size ornate (I think) oval die and covered with adhesive sheet and sprinkles for that delicate touch (although I do believe we will be in March before I dont see 'sparkle everywhere) sofa, carpets, loo seat, shower cubical and even inside our car !!
Well, a quiet day for us today, cant get use to there being just us (but you know all about that - right Sue) ? Cant wait to feel upto crafting again, my dear Crohns has decided to rear its sweet little head today - bless, but hopefully I'll kick butt later and not let it get the better of me ! Im really hoping that none of our friends here are struggling with flood waters and no utilities ! My thoughts are with you, any of you that are finding this time of year hard to cope with.
Im SO looking forward to spending 2014 with you Sue and friends, Im hoping to boost my 'stash' with a few more bits I see used here, so Im really excited that my work will go up a few notches now I have the best tutor EVER, and a new group of friends to help : )

Im sending each and every one of you warm hugs this cold and frosty morning, and if all else fails today - CRAFT : )
    Love to all.

  23. Lovely card, Sue, saw you demo this and thought how a simple technique with masking could make such a sweet card.
A two-fer for Ann then, first the card and then Sue - wowee, bet she floated like a butterfly!!
New cooker developed major fault Christmas Eve, so we had a hob lunch and it was more than okay (but no roast tatties) - thought of all those poor souls with no power and perhaps flooding too. Thought ourselves lucky.

A very happy Boxing Day to everyone. Love the simplicity of today's card. Really do like the stamps, they may have to be bought very shortly! Nice that the card is flat, which is something I find really hard to do & end up paying a fortune to post cards that I've made that don't fit through the dreaded slot at the post office!! Glad you had a good day yesterday and yes I ate way too much as well! Glad to hear Tracy's dad is on the mend.

I got several new pots of the polished silk glitter for Christmas so I will be making some very sparkly cards in the new year !! This is such a great card. I will definately have to try making this one with some similar butterfly stamps.

  89. Good afternoon Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Well it was still morning when i started to read todays input, but somehow turned in to afternoon. Sue i hope you have a laugh and giggle at our posts as sometimes i get sore sides with our antics.
I love todays card as butterflies for me symbolise a new beginning, a new life, as if you look at what they start out as you will hopefully know what i mean. I love the clean lines that it has and if you will excuse me, the elegant simplicity of it.
I didn't over endulge, well at least not until i got down to mum's and the "TRIFLE".....ooooh it is nice and i have brought the remainder of the big bowl up the road. Guess what's for breakfast??
Ann, I got one of the Wednesday fronts from Sue a while back and i have put it into a frame, i was walking on air for weeks after. I just need to look at it and it gives me that feeling over again.
Tracey, wonderful news on your dad, tell him to behave himself and he will be out of hospital soon hopefully.
To all our friends that are out of power and no amenities, here's hoping that you are back restored again asap.
Steph, so glad you had a lovely dinner cooked for you for a change as then it feels like Christmas when you get spoilt like that. My hubby has had a personality transplant this year as poor Tia (my daft chocolate Lab)has been subjected to a tinsel necklace everytime he comes home from his work. She just lies there with the "what have you done to me daddy" eyes.
Well what a very quiet day today is with my son on his new tablet, my daughter working in the Acute Assessment Unit. No doubt there will be a few overspill from yesterdays frolics and festivities for her to deal with.
AM i going to the madhouse called Stirling? That'll be a no as i can't be trusted to keep to my feet and not make friends with the ground. I somehow do that on a number of occasions but it seems to upset a few. me i just wait until i can crawl to a side and try to get back to my feet.(NO mean feat i can assure you).
Have a lovely day everyone where ever you are and hopefully see you tomorrow.
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  107. Good afternoon Sue,

Do hope you had a wonderful day yesterday with family and friends, after all that's what it's all about isn't it. I too ate too much, as per usual, but had a wonderful day with just the OH and myself. I thought the cards you posted yesterday were truly amazing - every one of them - and there is NO WAY that I could ever be persuaded to pick a favourite. Thanks for sharing todays card with us and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

  113. Eeeee ecky thump! I haven't caught up with the demo on C&C yet Sue....I'll have to watch it! What a lucky lady Ann in winning this card, as we all are who have been lucky enough to win one! I will treasure mine and, a don't give up to the rest of you who haven't yet! What a wonderful surprise for her seeing you too Sue! Hope everybody has had a lovely time. I've noticed that Heather has said your dad is on the mend Tracy. Wonderful news and hope he takes his time in getting back to scratch. My husbands brother had one about a month ago. He's 45. Cameeli, if its any help, My husband has lost 2 stone and I have lost 2 and a half stone. We reduced the food on our plates to half gradually and cut out bread and potatoes, mashed and roasted. Filled up on fruit to replace a lot of the sugar fix and if we felt peckish had an apple or two Weetabix. It's hard at the start but you start to get used to lesser portions. As I have a lactose/milk intolerance we substituted normal choc and had a small piece of dark chocolate. Slimming World Club is a good one. Anyway! Love the butterflies Sue and how you have masked them plus the colours. What a lovely, cheerful, pick me up card. Gorgeous! I wonder if you have thought of putting those Christmas cards that you posted on Christmas day in a "win one of these" competition? I'm sure that members of our blogging family would love to receive one of them! Just a thought! Thoughts are with those who are less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas time, whatever the circumstances. God bless, take care xx Love Karen xx

  123. Hi Sue,
Love the elegant simplicity of today's card, great mix of colours too.
Catered for 18 today (dinner and tea) so although I over indulged I feel I should have burned it off too with all the hostessing and cleaning that has been done but as its only once a year I don't mind :-)

  124. This would make a lovely thank you card too Sue. Did my overeating today at a lovely friendship lunch. It was within walking distance so had a bit too much wine too but it was really enjoyable. Yesterday didn't eat too much as busy serving lunch for 50 folk in the village hall but had a very large drink when I got home! Been doing this for the last 5 years and now can't imagine being anywhere else on Christmas day - it's hard work but such fun. Fasting day tomorrow!!!! X
