Christmas X 2

Hi crafters!  It's time again for a double dose of Christmas.  I thought as long as I have a fair few cards to work with, I would try to pair up different styles for you so you can see a wide variety of looks.  So today's pair include a traditional angel card, almost on the romantic side and a more modern clean style (below).  For the first card, I stamped the Festive Poinsettia by Justrite all over the background of a piece of milk coloured card.  I used a clear Perfect Medium pad for this, then dusted the background with gold mica powder.  Rather than embossing, the mica gives a much softer look and a lovely shimmer as well.  I stamped the angel using the flake and glitter glue onto milk card.  I used the Summer Meadow gilding flakes to cover the image, then refined it using a piece of rubit scrub it pad.  I covered the image with a sticky adhesive sheet, then micro beaded over the top, encapsulating the angel.  I cut this piece into a rectangular shape and matted it with the pretty Timeless Rectangle die, also cut in milk card.  I mounted her in the centre of the card, then cut two poinsettias to layer up.  I added my flower to the corner with a piece of gold tulle and some metallic Bakers Twine. I used the gold alcohol ink to change the colour on a large flatback pearl and added it to the middle of the flower.  I matted the card with a soft gold mat before finishing with my double pierced mats in milk card.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size.

For the second card today, I have a more modern take and a fairly quick card to do as well.  I cut a piece of black card and embossed it with the Tapestry embossing folder.  I used the Large Labels to cut a piece of card covered with the self adhesive sticky sheets.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered it with Summer Meadow gilding flakes.  I cut the tree from the Heartfelt Creations die set called Banner and Trees and added pearls to the flowers.  I glued it to the gilded background.  I matted it with a piece of black and then a thin white mat.  I added this piece to my embossed background with some foam for dimension.  Finished this one off with a double white pierced mat and some black rhinestones swirls in opposite corners.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8"in size.  I hope you like them, or at least have a favourite.  Another video tomorrow for you and card giveaway winners too! Don't forget to check back. All for now, Sue x

  10. 2 very very beautiful cards here again Sue. I just absolutely LOVE the look of the guilding flakes, but unfortunately not been able to find them anywhere here, so guess, I´ll have to try on Create and Craft now, as my last chance. I was wondering, do I have to get some special glue for that??? I´ve seen you use this Cosmic Shimmer glue on your shows, but can any craftglue be used??? Just because they never wants to send glue internationally for some reason, so will need to find something usable here???

    morning Sue
What a beautiful way to finish the week on. Two absolutely beautiful cards and each one so very different.
Although I love both designs for me I think the second one has the edge today. This for me is totally out of my box as I'm very traditional about Christmas so I have surprised myself this morning.
Hoping to get some crafting in today as both days this week I've started something has cropped up and I've had to leave it.

  38. Good morning Sue,
I really love No.1 with the angel as i have 2 friends that would cherish this card. No.2 i would have said would make a great masculine card, but since i know at least 1 couple who are very modern, minimalistic type, this would be the card for them. Both cards are lovely in their own way, but the first would be for me. Its great you giving us a double exposure as it gets our brains functioning along new lines again. Love and crafty hugs

  63. Morning Sue,
Well I've said it so many times so I can only apologise for sounding like a Broken Record, but you've done it once more with your "Truly Beautiful Cards" thank you so much for the "two Cards" the tips and inspiration. I love the "Gold Angel Card" it's so Clean and Soft looking love the background where you have used the fabulous Mica Powders! and then the Angel using the Gilding Flakes! and then to add my favourite Micro Beads! they make the image really stand out! then there's the equally "Beautiful Black Card" some would say Masculine but it's a Card I would love for myself, I love The Tapestry Embossing Folder! used on the Black background this makes it stand out, love the use of Gilding Flakes! to soften the Black, then cutting The Tree in Black and adding the Odd Pearl just finishes it of. 70. Morning Sue and Wilsonettes. Well ladies, Julia is with a decent presenter thank goodness : ) now back to what our leader has given us today. Im sorry to say that Im not a lover of 'traditional' type cards but I do love the black and gold, I need to get to grips with guilding, Im new to them so I dont get the quantity of glue just so and I hate to waste my expensive flakes if I've not got it right, but its the only way I'll learn I suppose.
Thanks Sue for all the inspiration you have given your Wilsonettes this week, and look forward to what you give us next week.

  106. Hi Sue. These are two very beautiful cards today !! I certainly could not choose between them as they are both so lovely in different ways. I love the angel stamp and the mica powder background. I especially love the colours of this card and the beautiful poinsettia too. (My favorite christmas dies and stamps.) I also really love the gilding flakes tree. Very striking and stunning !! I have received my prize from your blog comments. Thank you very much Sue you are so generous. I have been making a christening card for my new little nephew. I did not know what embossing folder to use for the background. I made a spellbinders shape then tried to emboss it with the shape die still in it. I used Sue's heart lattice folder. Well I removed it from the folder and I had embossed the shape round the wrong way. I had de-bossed it !! It looks just like a baby's quilt !! So I am using it for my background !! It suits the card perfectly. Thankfully it was a "happy accident". I am looking forward to the next video. Take care Sue. Lots of love Tres x x x

Love both the cards today, but I really like the techniques used on the Angel card. I'm really looking forward to your video tomorrow with a nice cup of tea and a well earned break.

    Kind regards :-)

  130. Oh wow Sue, loving the twofer! Both great cards but the angel one is my favourite. I love how you have created the beautiful background with the stamp and mica powder. The tree card, like you say, is good for making a quick card, "thank you!" Just lovely ideas. I haven't got the angel but I'll have a rustle around to come up with another solution there! Have a great weekend Sue and "thank you" for your inspiration xx Love Karen xx

  133. Good evening Sue
Great!! 2 cards today, double the delight. At first sight my firm favourite was the angel card. I love the stamp, very celestial, very Christmassy. The perfect little poinsetta sets it off to lovely effect. At second glance though, I must say the tree card is growing on me. I would never have thought of using black card on a Christmas card but when teamed with the gilding flakes and delicate tree detail it really does win out.

  137. Hi Sue, I love both cards but if I had to pick a favourite then it would have to be the angel. It looks positively regal and very expensive with the gilding and micro beads, gorgeous. x
