Hello crafters! I thought I would do a couple days of sneak peeks at the weekend show samples. I bet you were wondering when you saw that title! LOL This is one of my favourite cards I have to admit as I just loved the "Dear Santa, Define Naughty!" Before I forget to tell you, there has been an additional hour added to the schedule on Saturday morning (no sleeping in for me!). This is something new as I am doing the first ever Pick Of The Weekend! (POTWE) . It is all Christmas and if you haven't started making them yet, hopefully this will give you the push to get them started! Today's card is a bit of a distressed Christmas card, but it definitely has a fun side to it as well. I used kraft card as my background and stamped my sentiment in the lower corner with a Coffee Archival ink pad. The sentiment is from the clear stamp set called Holiday Magic by Justrite Stamps. I used the Holiday Magic embossibility folder to add texture to the top of the card. I used some Walnut Stain and lightly added some colour to the swirls. I roughed the edges a bit with my scissors and rubbed them as well with the walnut stain. I cut a strip of decorative paper from my stash and stamped it with the Beaded Element stamp (from Creative Expressions) and gold embossed it. I added this piece to the side of my card and began working on my Santa stamp (from the CExp singles line) I cut a piece of patterned kraft card from my stash. I stamped it with the same stamp, but did not emboss it. I just wanted a soft watermark effect on the background. I stamped my Santa and coloured him with coloured pencils and fussy cut him. I stamped the holly on his hat again and cut it out, coloured it and added it to his hat for dimension. I used some red glitter Stickles on the holly berries. I added a piece of hessian that I removed about half of the strands from. I glued it in place under my Santa. While I was in Florida, I found these cute little pine cones and holly at one of the chain stores. The holly was a bit too bright so I toned it down with some gold pigment ink. I forgot to add that I did add a red mat to all my pieces and the final background card too. Then I added a final double kraft card mat to complete the card. Isn't he a cute Santa! Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteI think this should have been my twin brothers' card when we were small as he frequently pushed the boundaries. The Santa in this stamp must have been done from one of his portrait sittings that he had done (and just remember if you don't believe, he won't come).
Question that i'm sure a lot of us are thinking :- How long does it take you from initial concept to completion of a card? Because although we she you prepared to make the card for the shows, we realise that you have to start working out how the card is going to look.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah
