Life To The Fullest / Announcement

Hello crafters!  I have a quick card for you today and an announcement for you too.  First the card, which is a milk, taupe and black card that could be used for just about any  I occasion I think.  I started by letterpressing the background by inking the Venetian embossibility folder with Antique Linen distress ink on the negative side.  I inserted my taupe coloured card and ran it through the machine to transfer the ink to the floor of the design.  I matted this piece with a thin black mat and a slightly larger milk mat.  On to the next section.  I used the same folder but merely embossed it this time and a smaller piece of taupe card and matted it with black as well.  I glued this piece to the side of my larger background and added a strip of black/ivory striped grosgrain ribbon across it.  I tied a knot into the top as an accent and taped the end around the back of the card.  I stamped the Justrite Labels two stamp from the Live, Love, Laugh set in black on taupe card and cut it out with the matching die.  I mounted it with foam to the edge of my ribbon.  I stamped the smaller Labels two stamp and added a sentiment this time on to milk card.   I cut it out with the matching label die as well and inked it with Antique linen while still in the die.  It was mounted  horizontally across the other one to complete my focal element.  I added two black zipper roses (I love the eclectic edgy look of these!) and added some black jute behind them.  I added some black flatback pearls to the die cuts, a black pearl swirl spray and a final double pierced taupe mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" in size.

Now for the announcement!  It is that time of year again!

As you say a gift for any occasion and I would say particularly the males in our lives (possibly without the roses)
The colour scheme is autumnal but in a way gentle and a very easy format for us to follow.
Good luck to all who enter the design comp. It sounds absolutely fantastic and what an experience it will be.

What a beautiful card yet again. I look at your design every day that i am able and it always strikes me the sheer beauty. I now know one of your secrets is the narrowest border of the accent card is what helps to show it off to its fullest. What a difference that small edging makes of the black to enhance and make the card pop.

  92. Hi Sue. WOW !! What a fabulous card today !! It looks so stylish and elegant . It is really gorgeous. I love your fab colour scheme too. I would have used taupe with black or milk with black but would never have thought of using all three colour together and being able to make them work. I really do love your idea of using the striped grosgrain ribbon and cutting it like a fork and tying a knot in it too. I think this is a wonderful way to add ribbon to a mans card instead of tying a bow. I have been trying to figure out a solution to this problem for a very long time now as I would love to add ribbon to men's cards. I also love your idea of matting and layering the same taupe card on top of one another but putting very small black matts in between and letter pressing one of the layers to add tone on tone colour. An absolutely fantastic idea !! I love those flowers too !! Lots of good luck for those who are going to apply to be on the creative expressions team !! Love and best wishes to you Sue. I could not get through the day without your amazing cards to look at. love Tres x x x

  112. Dear Sue
This is a great card, as you say there are so many occasions this would be great for and could be for a man or woman.
I love the letterpressed embossing folder technique you have used, I wasn't sure if it was a stamp to start with- till I looked more carefully.
The offset style is a great idea, I'm always putting things straight in the middle so I must try this for a change.
The zipper roses are definitely an edgy look to this card and the black jute looks great behind them, a bit like a black feather.
    Thank you for your inspiration.
Unfortunately my cards aren't very good and my imagination isn't as good as yours so I won't be going for the design team though I does sound good.
I wish all those going for the design team luck.

Best wishes and thank you for your inspiring blog,
