Just For You

Good Sunday morning all!  This is one that I think leans a bit more towards the masculine side (at least for those guys that don't mind a bow!)  It's a really easy one to make that simply uses the Celtic Motif dies for the most part.  I cut the inside die from the set, leaving the cutting edge piece off, and cut apertures in the background on the left and right sides.  Once cut, I embossed it with the Flourish embossing folder from Creative Expressions.  I had to do it twice to cover the entire background.  It doesn't line up exactly but there is so much going on that you don't notice the meeting point at all.  I used some gilding wax on the background to highlight the embossing.  I decided to use a combination of the Dark Bronze and the Enchanted Gold to give it depth.  I cut one more of the Celtic Motifs in milk coloured card, but used the outer cutting edge this time.  I added mounting foam to the back and adhered it in the centre of the two cut outs in the background.  I cut a fancy centre from the Stately Circles die set for the very middle of my focal element.  I added a flatback pearl to finish it off.  Using caramel striped grosgrain ribbon, I tied a double bow and added it below my focal element with a glue dot.  I finished it with a fancy button (do you like these? I hope so as they may be available soon) and a stamped sentiment tag.  I matted the entire piece on milk card then added a double pierced mat to finish off the card.  I definitely think this would work for some men and those women that aren't into all the frilly flowers on their cards, what do you think?  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.

Now for the Sunday Comment Game winners.  This weeks drawing goes to:
Val Jones!!!
Minx!!!
Vick (artful codger)!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email meat americansue1@gmail.com  to confirm your address and claim your prizes.  Hope everyone has a great week!  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Yes a fantastic gift for the more unfrilly(is that a word?) in our lives.
I love the colour scheme and gilding wax is definitely on my list for delivery. A beautiful format and as for the buttons they are a wow!! I managed to find some really old black buttons here in Burgundy at a village brocante last year and am very loath to use them as they cannot be replaced so I will be looking out for these to be released.
    Congratulations to this week's winners.

  130. Dear Sue,

Many apologies for such a late post, I'm trying to catch up with your wonderful blog posts now.

At first look I thought you had used a thin leather to cut the dies out of, it's a very effective faux leather look!
I love these Celtic motif dies, they are on an ever growing wish list of mine! The embossing folder is lovely and you'd never know it didn't repeat the pattern/ line up well. I love the gilding waxes they lift a card embossed background and I've a growing collection of them! Though there are more I want to get!

I think this is a great card for either sex, as not all women are into pink/ flowery cards and prefer the grunge look
( grunge is growing on me but I prefer pretty cards!), and any men who are worth anything would be very pleased to receive this card and the bow wouldn't bother them after all there are some that still wear bow ties on occasion!

    Best wishes from Katie-Louise sweetlove
