Gilded Gate Frame

Hi guys!  I thought I should show you the card that actually gave me all the leftover bits that I used on yesterday's card.  I decided that I wanted to use the Gilded Gate to provide a sort of fancy frame for the hearts.  I thought that the arched shape would be very pretty if I nipped out the actual gates and put two of the gates together like this.  I rather like it, and it definitely gives you more options for using your gate in other ways.  I ended up with four gates from this card and the four more from the demo that I prepped to do this card, so that is how yesterday's card came to be.  I used the Crazy Daisy embossing folder to emboss the white background for interest.  I attached my two gates then cut two of the Vines of Passion in red for the centre.  I matted that piece in red then cut a larger piece of white card to go around it.  I used the beaded swirl accent stamp and a clear perfect medium and stamped around the edge of the white card.  Using white powder, I heat embossed for a tone on tone look.  I finished the card with a double mat of white and Cosmic Shimmer white PVA dots all the way around the edge as accents.  I added a double bow tied out of frilly edges white ribbon, stick pins and a heart Dazzler for the centre.  I was contemplating doing the entire card in white and micro beading the two hearts.  That might have looked very pretty two, but you can definitely see other options so there is great versatility here.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8" in size.   Do tune in for Julia's shows today and I will see you on Sunday!   All for now, Sue x

Oh, of course watched all your shows (apart from the first half of the second hour) and the time just flew by. You give such good advice - was MOST IMPRESSED by the tip that one can use the rectangle dies to make squares, too.
    Have a great day.

  15. Very ingenious use of the gate die, Sue, makes s great frame for the hearts. A super card.
Enjoyed the shows, wish more time for demos - fantastic sample cards as ever. What a lot of work for you and Julia, but we love them!! Thank you.
Can't get the sets, but really like some to buy singly (or singular as Leonie says!) Particularly gazebo, bonsai, window, gate. Oh - is lust a deadly sin? I see hell on the horizon.

  20. GM Sue - saw and realy enjoyed all your shows yday. I wasn't keen on the 2012 D Lites for some reason but some of these new ones I thought were really nice - I went for the guilded gate, the filigree vase and the 2 sets of flowers - I also like the church window but decided to leave off that one for now anyway!

Must try guilding again - Like you I get v. messy - I did a workshop at a show to learn how to do it and ended up with it everywhere including in my hair and clothes - and the result wasnt very good either! but it wasn't using Cosmic Shimmer glue so perhaps that will be better and cleaner from what you said on TV yday! I do hope so - it put me off trying it again but I must.

Will be watching your shows again tomorrow.

    Happy weekend

  21. What a gorgeous card here Sue. I actually had guessed it would have to be this already yesterday on the show, and I totally love both of them, and I love how nothing is getting wasted, as I think, that´s probably the mainreason for, why I at least has been a bit reluctant to cut too much in my diecuts before, but after watching several shows here the last weeks, you´ve given me sooo many great ideas, that I´m begnning to try lots more out too now, and is looking at my dies in a very different way now too. Thanks sooo much for that and thanks sooo much for all the fun shows too, it´s always soo much fun to watch them, when yu´re there.

    morning Sue
First thank you for the two hour launch yesterday it was fantastic. I finally decided on set 2 after seeing yesterday's card and even more pleased seeing today's card that I chose that one.
Today's card is wonderful - full of inspiration and statement. I love the format and it just shouts for Red/White - I have a wedding anniversary coming up and their colour scheme was Red/White so my card format is solved. As a side comment I had just finished knitting a bag in these two colours yesterday!

  117. Hi Sue, What a fab day yesterday with all the demos, looking forward to the next shows. Love this card and going to adapt it slightly to make a golden wedding card with the gate from the earlier d lites set and a different heart as don't have theses dies. Ordered a couple yesterday but unfortunately finances don't run to order the complete bundles. Thanks for the inspiration

  127. Good afternoon Sue, what an absolutely beautiful card yo have made. Pretty, elegant, one which will appeal i think to a vast number. Your continuing knowledge and talent that you give so willingly and freely is so appreciated by all your fans. Thank you once more from this wee corner of Scotland.

  128. Morning Sue,
I LOVE the mostly tone on tone with just enough red to pop everything out - WOW! Really enjoyed your shows yesterday and got to see most of each demo. I shouldn't still be amazed by your skills, but I always am. Brilliant. I did resist the urge to buy everything in sight (very painful) as I know I won't have time to get the most from them all. I've decided to wait until they go on general sale and 'cherry pick' the ones I really want. Back to Julia now. Have a great weekend.

What an inspiration you and Julia are.

I expect everyone on this blog would love your job, but i do not think anyone could do as much justice to it that you and Julia do.

  142. Hi Sue. Two things; firstly, gorgeous card! Secondly thanks for showing the shaving foam technique a couple of weeks ago. I ran a 'Get Crafty for Comic Relief' party yesterday and used the foam as one of my demos - everyone loved it, lots of 'Ohhh''s for the big reveals. I had very few samples left at the end! We raised around £83! Happy crafting & thanks for the inspiration, Suz xx

  144. Lovely card Sue. Ordered the guilding wax yesterday, and one of the glitter sets, money is a little tight this month due to the wet and cold weather, but will be adding the D-lites as soon as I can to my stash..!!! Shame you got cut off your last demo yesterday in the second hour!! Missed all todays but looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, while I sit and make a card. xxx

  145. The die you used is really good. Could you tell me if this is the same die that I got in the first set of di-lites? I know it was not available for a while. The card yesterday was really great as is this one also. I am not very imaginative with my dies but am learning to be with your help. Kathy xx

  155. Hey would
you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm looking
to start my own blog soon but I'm having a tough time making a decision between
BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your
design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm
    looking for
    something unique. P.S Sorry
for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
