Butterfly Thank You

Hi bloggers!  I really like this simple card and I was hoping to show you a different  idea to use with your embossing folders too!  I started with a piece of white card and stamped my sentiment in the lower left hand corner.  The sentiment is one of the lovely scripts from JustRite's Grand Sentiments set.  Next I embossed a piece of blue card using the Couture Creation folder called Melody.  Using a pair of scissors, I cut beneath the scroll work, following along the pattern.  I used a fine grit sandpaper to soften the cut area a bit.  I taped it to my white base piece, skewing it to the right.  Next I stamped the beautiful butterfly from the set in the upper corner of my blue card using a black archival ink pad.  I stamped it again, but this time on plain vellum.  I cut it out and glued it above my stamped image, allowing the wings to be pushed up a bit.  I added pearls to the body as an accent.  Next I cut a spiral blossom three from blue felt, rolled it and added it to the corner of my embossed piece.  I added a pearl to the centre of my flower.  Using the swirl from the Jewelled Flowers and Flourish set, I cut two white ones and added them to the side of my card above my flower for interest.  I pierced my black mat to set a frame around my card and complete it.  I hope you will be able to see similar uses in some of your embossing folders.  Remember you can always use pieces rather than the entire whole to create unique looks for your card projects.  All for now, Sue x

Simple but simply beautiful. I love the colour and the way you have used the embossed piece. I can see me trying this technique on other folders ie botanicals and butterflies. I have an anniversary card to make and have already made two but am not happy with either of them so your idea is next. Thank you.

Morning Sue, I love the card and what you have done with it, but, for me, there is too much expanse of deep blue, but the technique of cutting up parts of embossing folder impressions is a brilliant idea, I also love the butterfly with the vellum on top. I got the multibuy embossing folders yesterday, so will be trying them out this weekend, also I got the fragrant garden justrite stamp, so will be giving that a go, like your sample one, also got the samantha walker set which includes the dressform and the stamps, and will be trying that because I loved your card sample of that.

  131. Hi Sue,
Lovely, lovely blue! Please, can we have this along with some Parisian/midnight blue as a pack of your extended 'basic doubles'?
I know you are working really hard on card colour research and I thank you for that.
Beautiful card today with lots of outside-box thinking.
With reference to C&C broadcasts from CHA, I have been surprised at the 'typical' American cards shown from the Spellbinder stand: the size and therefore the overloaded
appearance. Perhaps I have just been lucky enough to consider Sue Wilson as a Spellbinder Guru.
Or perhaps I, too, should start thinking outside the box?
I have been re-running my year-old recordings of your demos and still believe that your elegant, immaculate interpretations of Spellbinders are classics and worth a great deal to all of us as inspiration.
    Thank you for that!
Give my love to Mom and wish her Good Health and great enjoyment of your visit to her.
