Hi bloggers! Today's card is actually a remake of an old card that I originally made in pink and grey. The card was lost (or rather permanently misplaced!) but I really liked it and wanted to show it for my last set of shows. I decided that it would be fun to re-do the card with some minor changes but in a totally different colour scheme. I chose a vintage brown palette for the newer version. I was very pleased with the outcome. I stamped my sentiment on decorative paper using a coffee archival pad. I used the corner from the Heartfelt Butterfly border set and cut it four times to create a frame for the sentiment. The corners will link together nicely since they have "holding hands" on each side. I made three of the Bitty Blossoms in differing sizes out of decorative paper and added a few leaves. I used a couple of different decorative papers for the background and added some cream guipure lace as an accent. In the upper corner, I cut a couple of butterflies out of different papers and stacked them atop each other. Three flatback pearls were added to the body as an accent. I finished the card with some Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots in Choco brown to give the card a real vintage feel. If you recall the original, let me know which you prefer. All for now, Sue x
This is a lovely card, so lacy and pretty. I love the "holding hands technique" and the flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow wow wow Sue gorgeous card x
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteWell, you've done it again. Unfortunately I don't recall the original so cannot tell you my preference as to the colour scheme. But I'm certain I would have liked them equally.
This card is a real "feel good" card - absolutely beautiful but not too fussy.
Your cards are always so elegant Sue!
ReplyDeleteGM Sue - love this! can't recall the original so can't say which I prefer I'm afraid!

Morning Sue, A truly elegant card, I love the muted autumnal colours, I don't recall the previous one, but a pink grey theme would be equally gorgeous. I love the corners used as a frame, those holding hands work a treat, love the papers used and the flowers are fantastic, and the guipure lace is so beautiful, I love everything about this card.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Patricia xx

Hmmmm, Sue, wonderful colours and new ideas - but perhaps a tad too busy for me. (Bye bye butterfly and lace.) Love the main topper.
ReplyDeleteTend towards the 'simpler' cards with lots of space.
Having said that, would be thrilled beyond measure if someone sent it to me!!

This is very, very beautiful. I love the design and the flowers you used. Fab work! Hugs! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the area with the sentiment, "holding hands" frames and flowers. But then I don't know if all the other elements fit that well together. Maybe it is the lace that I am not that into so it messes the whole overall.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are absolutely fantastic. And I am not even that flower-maniac but you sure know how to use them and how to do them.
Hugs from Finland, Eemeli
I love the effect of the coloured pattern paper and the gorgeous butterflies in particular. Don't recall the original so can't compare but I am sure they are both equally lovely
ReplyDeleteLovely colour combo!

ReplyDeleteI do prefer today's card - perhaps it's the colour scheme I like better. I love the butterflies and use them so much. I never seem to be successful when I use lace and I don't know where I go wrong but will keep trying. The sentiment makes the card for me - it is oh so true. I too like your other bloggers wish it were you tonight - Haven't C&C realised yet it is you we want for these shows!!!!

Hi Sue. Another lovely card and I love these colours, which I find really hard to do and can never think what to put with what. i usually do a dark blue and a light blue or a dark pink and a light pink etc etc. Can't wait for Christmas to add to my spellbinder stash
ReplyDeleteWow this is beautiful. Those colours are just so lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card I love it! The colours are really autumnal and I love the butterfly on the card and the holding hands technique of the frame you made. I've never made a card in these colours I'm always using cream and pinks and pastel colours but I must try this I think it may take a few tries to get the colours right. I'm going to look out at the NEC for some nice card to add to my stash at home which is dwindling!

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI recognized the general layout as being similar to one of my favourites that I have printed out in my folder - it's 'Take Wing and Fly', posted on May 22nd, and it is pink and grey so I think it must be the one you are refering to.
I do like them both, but think the original is still my favourite,
Sue xx
Sorry! - Take Wing and Fly' was posted on the 21st, I printed it out on the 22nd!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue...This card is lovely...I prefer the vintage feel in these neutral shades over the pink and grey.
