Elegant Fronds

Morning all!  I was so hoping to get to demo this one for you at some point, but since the embossing folder, the background stamp, the Justrite stamps and the label shape sold out, it wasn't to be.  This card is a nice example of the fun you can have with large patterned stamps.  I have used the Elegant Fronds for this one.  I started by inking a piece of Coconut white card with several colours of Distress ink.  I used  Shutters, Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage and randomly applied them with a piece of cut 'n dry foam, overlapping  and blending them.  Once I was satisfied with the coverage, I made sure that it was good and dry, using both a heat tool and then an antic static pad to remove any moisture.  This is very important for this technique and remember that Distress inks will stay wet quite a while too.  Next I stamped my Elegant Fronds using a clear Perfect Medium over my inked card.  I heat embossed with clear powder.  Using the Stormy Sky distress ink from the pad, I rubbed it into all the non embossed areas to bring out the pattern.  I cut out a frame using the largest 20 die and then skipping a size so the frame was a bit wider to show off the pattern.  I mounted it on foam pieces.  Next I stamped the Fleur de lis labels 20 stamp by JustRite designs on white card using a clear perfect medium pad.  I heat embossed it with white powder.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre with a Cobalt Blue Archival pad.  I mounted my frame over this piece, lining it up to show off the design.  Next I embossed my background using the Tied Together embossing folder.  I extended the pattern for a larger area.  I tied a double bow from the aqua silky crush ribbon.  Using the largest flower in the Bitty Blossoms set, I made a beaded flower by adhering a sticky sheet to my white card prior to cutting.  By peeling back a small section of the backing paper then beading it, you are sure to not only get good coverage, but keep it from sticking to itself too.  I seated my flower in the centre of my bow with a sticky glue dot.  I not only added a pearl to the centre of my flower, but placed one at every junction in the embossed background.  I matted the entire piece on blue card, then did a double white pierced mat to finish it off.  Think about all the fun colour combos you can try with this technique!  All for now, Sue x

What a beautiful beautiful card for a very dull morning. The colour scheme is fantastic and again less is more is just for today. I love the background folder - it just looks like quilting and so luxurious. As you say so many colour schemes could be used and so many would love to receive such a card.

  81. Hi Sue, having problems getting my posts to go on via my phone lately & I can't copy & paste in blogger on my phone, so I'm on my main Mac today. Makes a change...
Love today's card. The colours 'pop' but as you said the colours can easily be done in lots of combos. The reason I bought so many of the 4 day deals on C&C the other week was because this card was held up to see. I saw the gorgeous effect of the stamps on that background. The shape of labels 20 is so elegant, especially used with those stamps. The quality of the JustRite range is superb & I love the fact I can put them in a folder for storage. I also bought the silk crush ribbon & an additional pot of mirco beads to what I already had. I'm still shocked how much I bought the last few months! Best not buy any more offers as I have Christmas to pay for yet. Claire xxx

  151. Hi Sue,
Can I make a request, I hope you can get us back the Justrite stamps especially the Christmas baubles and labels 20. I know they're kinda pricey but they're worth it! The main attraction on this card for me is the stamps of labels 20...they're so pretty. As always, no one can ever beat 'Simplicity'...it's beauty speaks for itself! Thank you so much, lots of love, Aggie xxx
