What's Black and White and Red All Over?

Hi my crafty friends!  It's an embossed snowflake card!  A very non traditional snowflake card, but just the same.  I used the JustRite Snowfall Background to create this card.  Now I find large background stamps a bit difficult to use sometimes, but I do love them.  So I had to figure out a way to stamp them so I could continue to use them (I have a bit of arthritis in my hands so I found I could not get enough pressure on them).  This stamp is set up in two halves with the centre of it empty so you can put your sentiment there.  For this reason, I found it quite the breeze to stamp half of it and then do the other half.  I wasn't worried about lining it up as I cut both halves out and mounted them on foam, recessing the sentiment area.  I stamped this with a clear perfect medium pad on to black card.  I then embossed with white powder so all the swirls and snowflakes show up in black, coming through from the card.  I stamped my sentiment the same way on the black card and white embossed it.  I cut the larger snowflake out of black glitter card.  The snowflake in the foreground was cut from white card that had a sticky adhesive piece attached to it.  I peeled the backing paper off after cutting it and covered it with clear micro beads for texture.  I tied a messy bow out of the lipstick red seam binding and mounted the snowflakes in the centre.  I matted the entire piece with a double mat of coconut white card and pierced the inside mat for a nice frame.  Roll on Christmas, I'm almost ready!  All for now, Sue x

I absolutely love this card it is beautiful, I am definitely going to get this stamp. I have carpel tunnel in both hands so find it difficult to use big stamps, so after inking the stamp I place the card on top of the stamp then use a brayer over the card. You have to be careful that the card doesn't move but this method works for me.

  21. Gorgeous card Sue large background stamps are great to use but as you say can be hard to match/stamp evenly, I find what works for me is to ink stamp place on desk add card to stamp and use brayer to roll over card and then do as you have cover any missed bits with a sentiment.....they hide a multitude of happy accidents lol!

  89. I know I've already commented this morning Sue, but I should of said before. I use my Craft Dragon for stamping. Perfect positioning every time I use it & minimum pressure required on the handle. Traditional stamping requires quite a bit & so much room for error. Not for me these days :-) I stamp with confidence! If I miss a bit of ink (rearly happens) I can restamp perfectly over the top. I love to emboss stamped images too! I would of cut my stamp as suggested anyway to ensure it fit the block on my Craft Dragon Impress. I would probably hot foil my sentiment too. Love Claire xxx

  160. Hi Sue,
If you have a problem with large stamps try placing your stamp face up on your mat, put card & block on top and a gentle press should give a good impression. I sometimes use this method but one thing don't use an ink pad that is new it may smudge if you have too much ink.
