Hi my crafty friends! It's an embossed snowflake card! A very non traditional snowflake card, but just the same. I used the JustRite Snowfall Background to create this card. Now I find large background stamps a bit difficult to use sometimes, but I do love them. So I had to figure out a way to stamp them so I could continue to use them (I have a bit of arthritis in my hands so I found I could not get enough pressure on them). This stamp is set up in two halves with the centre of it empty so you can put your sentiment there. For this reason, I found it quite the breeze to stamp half of it and then do the other half. I wasn't worried about lining it up as I cut both halves out and mounted them on foam, recessing the sentiment area. I stamped this with a clear perfect medium pad on to black card. I then embossed with white powder so all the swirls and snowflakes show up in black, coming through from the card. I stamped my sentiment the same way on the black card and white embossed it. I cut the larger snowflake out of black glitter card. The snowflake in the foreground was cut from white card that had a sticky adhesive piece attached to it. I peeled the backing paper off after cutting it and covered it with clear micro beads for texture. I tied a messy bow out of the lipstick red seam binding and mounted the snowflakes in the centre. I matted the entire piece with a double mat of coconut white card and pierced the inside mat for a nice frame. Roll on Christmas, I'm almost ready! All for now, Sue x
WOW,I love it,and I could do this one as I have dies that would work for it.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue great card, I have some problems with larger stamps ,you probably have them but try slim jims thin and slightly flexible acrylic blocks I find thy are easy to position and easy to apply pressure by moving your hands around.all the best jacqui.

Good Morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteA striking colour combo for a Christmas card, love the colour of the ribbon, the stamp is lovely, especially embossed in the white. A lovely card again, you are definitely 'The card designer of the Year', in my opinion, (of all time, really, hee hee)
Have a great day everyone.

Morning sue. This card is gorgeous I love it. The colours are super. Have a good weekend x
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this card it is beautiful, I am definitely going to get this stamp. I have carpel tunnel in both hands so find it difficult to use big stamps, so after inking the stamp I place the card on top of the stamp then use a brayer over the card. You have to be careful that the card doesn't move but this method works for me.
Hugs x
Gorgeous card Sue large background stamps are great to use but as you say can be hard to match/stamp evenly, I find what works for me is to ink stamp place on desk add card to stamp and use brayer to roll over card and then do as you have cover any missed bits with a sentiment.....they hide a multitude of happy accidents lol!
ReplyDeleteMaggieH
'morning Sue,wonderful design. Almost ready for Christmas? You certainly use you time well and don't waste a single moment. Samples for TV shows, all your Craft Shows, your blog, visiting your Mum, making Cookies, etc, etc, etc. Phew!! I'm tired thinking of what you do!! Thank you even more so. Mabex

Good morning Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a simple but lovely card that will just make me smile to make and went sent make someone else smile. Way to go!!!!
As someone said earlier, this is a very striking card and I quite like it. I too have a little artritis in my hand. Sometimes I use my brayer to apply pressure to large stamps. Just hold in place with one hand to be sure it doesn't move then roll the brayer back and fore. Christine x
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, simple and just lovely.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue Love it! I have this stamp and stamped it on to red card and embossed it with white which looked nice too but think I will try one in black now! Love Jean x

ReplyDeleteStunning card Sue. Personally, I don't like Happy Holidays, but I can see that it could be useful. The background is beautiful and I also love the idea of placing a die cut on the ribbon. So effective.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, once again another super card,. I find that if the stamps are acrylic, the rock-a-blocks make it a lot easier to stamp. Take care, Jess xx

ReplyDeleteHi Sue. This is a wonderful card. I love it. The snowflakes are lovely and the red bow finishes the card perfectly. The background snowflakes look good but I dont have this stamp so would use something else instead. Lovely colour scheme. A very nice christmas card. Sorry I have not commented for a few days. Our computer gave up and we had to invest in a new one. Love Tres x x x

Hi sue what a stunning card I love it! I haven't got the snowflake background but have the starry night one so will use that this card would be good for batch making as there's nothing overly time consuming on it-great. Thank you love lesley x
ReplyDeleteI know I've already commented this morning Sue, but I should of said before. I use my Craft Dragon for stamping. Perfect positioning every time I use it & minimum pressure required on the handle. Traditional stamping requires quite a bit & so much room for error. Not for me these days :-) I stamp with confidence! If I miss a bit of ink (rearly happens) I can restamp perfectly over the top. I love to emboss stamped images too! I would of cut my stamp as suggested anyway to ensure it fit the block on my Craft Dragon Impress. I would probably hot foil my sentiment too. Love Claire xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card. It is really terrific.

Morning Sue! Don't think you can beat a snowflake for Christmas and the red just makes it! Vicki x

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteIf you have a problem with large stamps try placing your stamp face up on your mat, put card & block on top and a gentle press should give a good impression. I sometimes use this method but one thing don't use an ink pad that is new it may smudge if you have too much ink.
