A First For Me!

Hello crafty friends and Happy Halloween!  I took a drive on Monday up to Ocala, which is the largest town near my Mom.  I heard that there was a stamp store there and wanted to pay it a visit.  I had a lovely surprise as I saw my Vintage Lace Motifs on their shelf and that is the very first time I have seen them for sale anywhere in the States.  It was very cool to see them displayed on their die wall!  I felt like a proud Mom!  In their honour I have chosen a card for today that I made recently which uses them.  I started with a piece of decorative paper from my stash and used the edgeability dies to cut the top and bottom to give it a scalloped look.  Next I set to work on the focal element.  I cut two of the Parisian Motifs, one in blue and one in white.  For the white one, I nipped away the inside piece by cutting right at the base of the lacy edges.  Then I tucked those edges underneath the shorter pieces on the blue die cut.  It probably is difficult to follow that, but if you have the die cuts in hand, you will probably be able to see exactly what I have done by looking closely at the pictures.  Next I cut two of the Vintage Lace pieces and scored through all the sections.  I nipped into the centre and then concertina folded all the score lines.  Do this to both pieces then glue them together to form a round piece.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a small circle die and mounted it in the centre to complete my focal element.  I cut several of that lovely swirl from the Heartfelt Creations Dutch Iris die set and added them cascading across my card.  I wrapped some silky crush ribbon around the card and tied a double bow and added it to the side.  A pearl embellishment and a couple of pearl stick pins were thrown in for good measure too.  Pierced the edges to give it a nice frame and finish it off.  The demo version of this card that I did on Create and Craft had a butterfly in the corner.  I rather liked it but they whisked it away before I could get a piccie of it for you, so you just have to imagine one there on this one!  All for now, Sue x

  136. Hi Sue, I bet you were doing a little happy dance when you saw your dies in the store. Hope they gave you some discount on your purchases. Your card today is just so beautiful and the blue and white is so fresh looking. Your vintage dies are next on my list of must haves. Hugs Christine H xx

What a beautiful card, so clean and fresh looking, just love it.
I was wondering if you could help me? I have purchased one of the A4 Embosibilities and cant use it on my Grand Calibur because I cant get the white plate out of the machine. I saw you do it on C&C but just cant get mine out. Any suggestions? Thanks Sue x

  152. Hi Sue, hope you enjoyed Halloween?! We did! Got all my PartyLite Halloween candle holders out to decorate for the kids (I'm a consultant of almost 10 years so have lots!) & did various art projects with them. Headband, necklace, brooch & baked a lemon drizzle cake too :-). Didn't take them trick or treating as it was really wet & my sons not fully recovered from his operation.
So excited you saw your dies for sale! Think I might of made some kind of sound that would of indicated I'd found something of great importance - no wonder you're proud :-))). Sounds like your enjoying your time with your family very much?! I'm so sorry for the awful weather some of your country are experiencing... Can't imagine what it's like for them.
Your card today is just beautiful. Such fresh colours. I love those die sets - I have them all ;-) - so might try something similar. Quite like the Christmas themed idea someone mentioned early on. See what I come up with. That consatina look is gorgeous! I really want to get some crafting done tomorrow. Maybe I will as my daughter will be at nursery for her one morning a week. My sons on half term so worked out well for recovery time. He'd like to do some crafts tomorrow as well I'm sure. We'll see! 166. First of all I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Appreciate it!

  167. I usually do not drop many responses, however I browsed some remarks on
this page "A First For Me!". I actually do have 2 questions for you if you tend not to mind.
Is it only me or do a few of these responses come across as if they are
written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are posting on additional social sites,
I would like to keep up with you. Could you list of
all of all your social community pages like your
