Double Buckle Card

Hi everyone!  This is one of favs from the last shows, I was real happy with how it came out.  I started with a background of coconut white card that I embossed with the Awesome Blossom embossibility folder.  I wanted a larger size so I extended it a bit and embossed it again.  It doesn't match up perfectly but if your card is busy enough, you won't notice.  Next I cut out five frames from the Labels 27 dies set.  One used the largest die and a smaller one inside, but the other four used the same size dies (the two just under the largest size).  Holding the largest frame, I was able to hook the other four so they attached all the way around.  That is one of the nicest things about this shape, there is the pointed areas inside that will hook over the flat areas on the other dies.  Once in place, I tape them all from the back and added mounting foam pieces on all the sides except where they were hooked together.  I attached this to my background with the mounting foam.  I cut two strips of white and two slightly larger strips of blue card long enough to reach from end to end.  I cut forks into the ends and added white Cosmic Shimmer glue dots along the edges.  Once dry, I crisscrossed them through my label frames.  I cut a small Decorative labels one out of white card to add to the centre.  I stamped my sentiment on white card, then cut it out with a small Labels 27 and inked it with Stormy Sky to highlight it.  I layered that piece on top in the centre to finish of my focal element.  I pierced the edges of my card as a frame to finish my card.   I think this layout would work very well for a masculine card too (always the hard ones, aren't they!)  Whoever received the demo version of this one, though, got a butterfly placed in an awkward spot as I got white glue on the card where it wasn't supposed to be!  All for now, Sue x

  34. I love everything about this card, the colour, the design the clever way you have interlocked the dies, but one thing which still blows me away is how deep the embossing is from the spellbinder embossing folders. That texture, to me just adds so much more to what would still be a great card. top of the class ms wilson.

Hi Sue, This design almost looks like a Windmill it looks so intricate but I am sure it is easy to make, your butterfly reminded me when I made my daughters wedding dress I caught some of the silk while embroidering the skirt, so I had to embroider 2 more gerbera daisies, one to cover the hole & the other to match & she never knew!
