A Fabulous Day

Hi guys!  Need a really quick card, this is the one for you!  It's a bit girlie, though but a really nice one to send for no specific reason.  I started with the Asian embossibility folder and inked the negative side with Spun Sugar distress ink.  I placed my coconut white card inside and ran it through the Grand Calibur for a faux letterpress look.  This will allow the ink to be transferred to the non raised areas of your background.  I hand cut the bottom of the embossed background along the pattern, giving it a scalloped edge.  Tip: if you use some fine sand paper, you can easily remove any areas that do not cut smoothly, just like filing a ragged fingernail.  You can probably find other embossing folders that would probably work nicely with this technique too.   I stamped my sentiment on white card and mounted my background on top.  I added a piece of black teardrop lace around the card and a double bow that I tied from the ruffled edge organza ribbon.  I added one of my favourite new pearl button embellishments to the centre of the bow.  I made two stick pins using some beads in my craft stash.  I covered a small piece of white card with self adhesive sticky paper.  I cut one of the lacy butterflies from the Les Papillons set and then peeled the backing paper and covered it with micro beads.  I glued the butterfly in the upper corner and pierced the edges to complete the card.  Simple, and quick so it will work for many ocassions hopefully.
On another note, I was scheduled for shows today, but they have been postponed for a bit.  I don't have a finalised date yet for them, but it is looking like it will be in the next few weeks.  Watch this space for updates!  All for now, Sue x

I love the effect of inking the negative side of the embossing folder, it is a beautiful look, and cutting the edge, the asian really lends itself to that. 40. another new idea for the embossing folders Sue, I will have to go through mine and see which ones will lend themselves to this idea, I really like the whole concept of this card, although as someone who has a difficult relationship with tying bows I doubt I would find it as simple to make as you did :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. GM Sue - love the card - tres chic! Please do lets us know you confirmed dates as soon as you have them as I want to clear my diary! Now, those stick pins you made - how did you do them pleae? Did you start with a plain one and add beads to it and if so, how did you get them to stick and not slide up and down the pin? cosmic shimmer glue perhaps?... A demo/tutorial or blogged idiots instructions would be gratefully recieved please - I have never attempted to make my own stick pins before so have zero knowledge of such matters.
