Happy Sunday! A quick floral card for today using the new Festive Floral stamp set. I have to admit that I have a secret love for poppies too so I really enjoyed making this one. Plus I got to use one of the new embossing folders coming down the line soon. I do have to apologise though as I have forgotten the name of it and it was left with my craft supplies in Florida. It is part of the new Romantique collection which should be arriving soon so if you like it, be on the lookout for it. There is an open section in the middle of it where I added the pierced edged white card for my flowers and sentiment. I stamped the poppies on a separate piece of card, then cut them out by hand (sorry no matching spellbinders for these!), but it didn't take very long. Whenever I cut out images, I always use a black marker to the edge so it takes away that white edge. I coloured them with a combination of pencils and markers (again, what I had on hand at Mom's!) and mounted them up on foam pieces for dimension. I loved the pop of red against the black and white background. I matted the entire piece on white first, then on black which I pierced to finish it off.
It's time for our Sunday Comment game drawing too.

ReplyDeleteHow did you know I bought this stamp set just before I went to bed last night?! Will be getting that embossing folder as soon as I can too, it's a lovely one.
ReplyDeleteI've got a very soft spot for poppies too. When I was young and didn't have as much time for gardening as I do now, I was advised to sprinkle mixed poppy seeds all over the garden in front of the antiques shop I lived and worked in. They looked so pretty with the white picket fence and seeded themselves and came up again every year.
So I love this beautiful card that has bought back happy memories,Sue. Definitely one I shall try,
Many thanks,
Sue xx
