More Botanical Swirls

Hi crafty friends!  Well I had wanted to show you some more ways to use the Botanical Swirl die template, but it didn't even last the first hour!  When I first laid eyes on these background dies, I was instantly smitten.  They are just my cup of tea, tickle my fancy, float my boat, I think you get what I mean.  I love the fact that you can make an entire card with just the one die if you want, or add an embellishment as I have done here.  I also love the fact that you can use all of the die, part of the die, or leave parts of the die intact as I have done here for a different look.  Great versatility with these.  Funny story, I made this flower for use on another card, then I decided to turn it into a porcelain flower by dipping it in the melted ultra thick embossing powder.  Well once I did that, it changed the colour a bit but it didn't look right on that card any longer.  So I ended up picking the colours for this card to match my left over unused flower!  It needed a home, I just couldn't set it aside and not use it, could I?  I cut the botanical swirl background out of a sort of dull turquoise card, it is a very muted tone.  I decided to put it against a really warm brown background to show off the cut outs I left in tact.  By the way, the edges of these dies do not cut so you can make a border of any size around it.  You will need to snip them out if you don't want to leave them in as I have done here.  On the cream and black card I showed several days ago using this border, I did snip them away right to the edge so you can see how different it makes the piece look.  I added some seam binding in brown, green gem and chalk white and tied a messy bow and glued my porcelain flower on top.  I stamped a sentiment and used the inside die from the fancy tag set and attached it to my bow with some Bakers Twine from the earth tone set.  I added some edge piercing to finish it off and make a really quick card that can be used for any occasion, don't you think?  All for now, Sue x

  11. Hi Sue,
thank you for your hard work you put in over the last few days - I don't know how you did that, 2 hrs at a time sometimes! And of course you must have done loads of preparatory work. I know you don't think of it as that but I sure appreciate it(and am certain that I'm speaking for loads of us crafters).
Brilliant easel you showed us for all your brilliant cards. This one is no exception.

  12. Hi Sue,
wonderful card just amazing. Love the colours, and everything about it. I was scared to watch the shows, no pennies to spend and I get very envious of all the new goodies you bring. So I had to sit on my hands so to speak. It sounds like I did miss some wonderful dies though. Well maybe next time your on my pennies will have replenished enough. LOL. Have a great crafty day everyone.

  23. GM Sue, bet you are shattered today?! Really enjoyed the shows esecially the latter ones. I sent you a card in one of the PM Shows but it got mixed up with someone else's - a lady call Gail I think? - C&C read out my message and showed her card and then read her message and showed my card! I dont mind if she doesn't! Mine was the The Holly & The Ivy one.

Anyway, I just love, love, love, this die - managed to order it elsewhere. Do you think you could put on your blog v. soon the card where you cut the swirl out? - that one really caught my eye.

Take it easy today! Think I would need to lie down in a dark room all day if I were you today!

I absolutely love the flower that you dipped in UTEE, it is gorgeous and goes beautifully with this card, it could have been made for it.
I hope that you can have a well-earned rest today, Sue, I don't know how you did all those hours yesterday, plus an extra hour tagged on at the end. I watched as many as I could and recorded all of them, as I want to try out all the cards that you demo'd. Lots of love from Patricia xx

Thankyou for showing us how to make those gorgeous roses I have all manner of ideas in my head I think they would not only look fabulous on a card but I want to decorate a box for a friend and she adores roses so perhaps I may try and make some to use on that. Well I was one of the unlucky ones as I was working and was unable to even try to get this die! I do wish Ideal World would stock enough of the stock they are advertising they know how it sells!:( Do you know when they will have more in stock at all?

I love the card with just some of the die pushed out much more effective and flowing!I do hope spellbinders bring more of these out. :)

Loved your idea with the easel stand, think I will start to put them on my cards, as I find the inserts to be the hardest part, lol. Looking forward to the next few weeks so we can have a closer look at your samples. Put your feet up today, you definitely deserve to after yesterday.

Great shows yesterday- you must be shattered. Like the way you've used the die but not too keen on the colours. Managed to get this die & the lattice and then couldn't resist the four pack bundle with the Venetians,Flower & Les Papillons so I really can't wait for them to arrive.Sometime can you explain how to do the flower with the ultra thick as whenever I've tried it, I just end up with a real mess that you couldn't put on a card! Have a well earned rest.

  40. Yes I agree with Patricia - you worked so hard yesterday and you always have something new to share - thanks so much for all the inspiration Sue. I love this die and I cannot wait to get hold of it but I did not realize that you have to snip away the parts near the border - is that tricky?

  103. Oh Sue, I missed this die and I do really love it. I shall have to watch out for it another time.
I was up until 2am this morning catching up on your programmes so am a bit sleepy still.
Did you have naps between shows to keep looking so fresh and working so hard?
Everyone should join your blog as your cards are so inspirational.

    Love and thanks

  104. Hi Sue, what a beautiful card, it was a shame that the Botanical Swirls sold out before you could do the Demo, I was so pleased that I had placed my order for all the new dies and checked out my order just as it sold out, sue I loved all your demos and emailed into every show to win one of your creations, maybe in september I'll get lucky, just kidding, thank you so much for all your hard work on the pick of the day, and for sharing this wonderful card which I can't wait to replicate when my Botanical Swirls Die arrives, have a wonderful week

  105. Good Morning Sue,
Beautiful card and I have bought the die so will print this one out and add it to my (quite thick now!) file of Sue Wilson cards I would like to emulate one day! Love browsing through them and have lots of favourites.
Yesterday's shows were fab - I hope you have a little free time today to pause and reflect on a job well done. Today's blog shows just how much pleasure and inspiration you bring to us all. That's why we love you, Sue!

  111. What a lovely card. I am so pleased that I managed to get this die on the show and so pleased to see you back on C&C as I seem to have lost my crafty mojo and seeing all the nice cards you have made has given me the inspiration to start crafting again. I was lucky enough to have my name drawn out of the spotty potty to win one of your crations and can't wait to receive it

  112. Hi Sue, Fabulous shows yesterday. I learnt so much. I particularly love the easel card stand. These will probably be appearing at the back of all my cards from now on. I did email you in a few photos of some of my own creations that I am really happy with. They weren't shown, but I hope you got to see them.
Love today's card, as always, you are so talented.

  127. Oh wow, simply beautiful and I must try dipping the flowers - I love the porcelain look it gives. I didnt get this die but did manage to get the pick of the day this time and I am so excited waiting for them to arrive. So is my daughter whose first spellbinder creation was shown yesterday on your show with Dawn and to answer your question she is 22. She plans on making her next card with the cherry blossom dies, looks like your inspiration may have hooked another follower and made a card maker of her Sue.
