A Day To Celebrate

Hi guys!  A really simple card today based on repeating a pattern as a background.  The new dies are perfect for this too as they are really interesting shapes.  I cut four of the pieces from the Asian set in black card and glued them in to a lavender square shape, two up, two down.  Then I layered four of the smaller pieces from that set on top but in white for a nice contrast.  I did a bit more matting with white and black for that piece then added my sentiment.  I stamped it in black, embossed it in clear on white card.  Then I used the smaller die in the decorative labels one set and cut a frame using scalloped labels one on the inside.  I added some foam pieces for dimension then mounted it over my sentiment and then in the centre of my background.  That entire piece I put on top of a larger background that I had embossed with the new Asian embossibility folder.  I had to line it up and repeat it to make it large enough, but it is a very easy repeat on it.  I rounded the corners and matted it on white then black.  I added a messy bow out of the mauve seam binding and a fancy button in the centre of the bow to complete the card.  Again, one of those cards that will work in any colour combo and with just about any sentiment you need.  I really like the black, white and lavender myself though!  All for now, Sue x

  126. This card is absolutely beautiful. Now we have watched so much Spellbinders on C & C, that the mind is full of ideas. I won't wait till I get my new ones. The ideas can well be used with the ones we already have :))
How funny to have my e-mail read out on C & C. It really made me laugh :D

  127. Sorry Sue, every time I put C&C on or Ideal w. something happened and I didn't catch much of it at all (really upset). Todays card is such a pretty card with such a different colour way

  132. Hi Sue,
Super card - and my favourite lavender too!
Today was my lucky day after all. When I got back from my trip to Donington there was a letter from the electricity people to say there would be an interruption in the supply to carry out essential repair work TODAY! So this morning I watched your shows expecting them to disappear at any moment! - especially as I saw their vehicles go past my cottage on their way up the lane. But some time later there was a tap on the door and a very nice man there explained that they wouldn't be able to carry out the work today, they would write again etc etc - and they were very sorry for the inconvenience caused. But the Cheshire Cat grin on my face was getting wider and wider - I just couldn't stop it!! So before he could decide I was a madwoman and that he ought to beat a hasty retreat, I managed to point at you on the TV and told him there something I really didn't want to miss today and I really didn't mind the repairs not being done!
The shows were great, thank you - and I was able to watch and record them all because it really was my lucky day! (But I do hope they'll come back before I'm stuck in a snowdrift with no electricity!)

  133. Lovely card Sue & a great colour combination. Lavender, black & white do mix well. It's been lovely seeing you again on C&C. Your cards have taken my breath away, they're just gorgeous! Beautiful dies & I love the embossing folders. I have the Regal & the Imperial folders & they make such a gorgeous difference to your card. So classy. Everything else added is icing on the cake! Love how you did the "stand" at the back of the card. Could you put step by step instructions on your blog of how you did it? It'll help the senility problems that happen along the way.....! take care Sue, thanks for all your inspiration, not just for me but for so many of us out there. xx Love Karen xx

  142. I almost never leave remarks, but after looking at through
a ton of remarks here "A Day To Celebrate".
I do have some questions for you if it's okay. Could it be only me or does it seem like some of the responses appear as if they are left by brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting at other online social sites, I would like to keep up with anything fresh you have to post. Could you list of every one of your social sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
