Hi blog friends! I have to make an admission that I am running out of non Christmas cards to show you! Well at least until I am allowed to show you the hundred or so cards that I am tripping over in my craft room that is! I had completely forgotten about this little card which my Mother decided needed to grace the front of her refrigerator! I felt like I was back in school when you bring home a pretty picture you made and Mom plasters it on the frig, huh! She really liked the soft cream, taupe and peachy tones to this card so I granted it to her without question. I told her that I just had to have a picture of it in case I needed it for my blog (which it turns out that I do!) I was making this for a sample for one of the shows way back in March or April sometime which featured the embossibilities on it. This one is called Valor. I used milk coloured card for the background and stamped my sentiment on it in black. I decided to emboss the background around it so I did the top half and then repositioned the folder to do the small section on the bottom of the card. I left the already embossed section hanging out of the folder so it wouldn't get squished going through the machine when I did the smaller section (I hope that makes sense!). Next I had some left over bits of felt and this is a great way to use them up. I cut as many circles as I could out of them (I cut them by hand as I did not have a circle nestie with me at the time). The darker felt was actually some leftover felt that they gave me at a pool table store I wandered in to one day. They were throwing it out after an installation and I remarked that it was a waste and would make great flowers, so they sent it home with me! Yippee, I love a good upcycle! I made all sizes of flowers and then just glued a pearl in the centre of them and arranged them cascading down my card. I cut some of the swirly die out of taupe card from the Heartfelt Bella Rose die set and cut it into pieces to go behind my flowers as an accent.
I did my final piercing around the edge to bring it all together and finished off the card (my Mom stole! LOL) Oh well, at least it has a good home! All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,

Have a great crafty day everyone.

Morning Sue. I particularly like the felt flowers. Going to try to make some.
Best wishes
Anne.
hi Sue, what a stunning card, i can fully appreciate your mum's response to this card, it is lovely, and thankyou so much for the idea. I have been asked to make a number of wedding cards from family members, as my nephew is getting married shortly, and i was beginning to run out of ideas, but a style similar to this would be perfect.
I particularly like how you have embossed the base card to leave a clean space for stamping, will definately give this technique a go. Maybe even now before the day fully starts!
thanks again.

Hello Sue,
Love the way you have embossed either side of the sentiment, your eyes are drawn to the message - I like that. Those georgeous flowers the colours tone so well (talk about being in the right place at the right time when you got your free felt, well done you).
Your Mum will think of you every time so goes to her fridge and feel very proud of her gifted daughter, thanks for shareing that little story with us I think we all feel we know her, especially after her birthday phone call on C & C.
Have a great day, Love BrenLel
Dear Sue I enoyed this post so much! My mum has so many of the things I made around her front room!
That embossing tip has saved me so much bother since you first introduced it on C and C (seems ages ago!) it was great having ways to get a bigger surface embossed - seemed like magic and I always think "thanks Sue" when I get that extra little bit embossed!
I am laughing with you about the pool table fabric but it is because when I was wee the older ladies would describe you as "she could get a piece at any door!"lol
Thank you for another beautiful card ask your mum to put it in a frame tho'! Vee xx
Hi Sue,
This design brightens up a wet Wednesay! I'm 100% certain I'd never have thought of using felt like this. Lovely.
Didn't get time to go online yesterday, but the 'Let it Snow' card is fabulous. Must have taken ages.
Sue
Hi Sue,
This is a really beautiful and elegant card - I'm glad your Mum loved it so much (as do the rest of us!). It's truly great when you can give a little joy to someone with a crafty creation!

The card is lovely and well done for finding that pool table store - what a strange place to wander in to!

Hi Sue, I can picture your Mom getting hold of your card and placing it on the front of her icebox...lol...loving the card and the story behind it! I haven't tried using felt material. I think I'm going to give it a try. I love the colors of the felt...unfortunately, I don't have any pastel colors nut I do have some primary colors leftover from when we lived in Arizona. I hope you don't mind if I do a remake of this card using bold colors. Thank you Sue for a brilliant card to inspire new crafters like me. Lots of love, Aggie x
This is such an elegant card Sue, thank you.xxx
Gorgeous colours chosen for this card, it really is beautiful. I can see why your mum loves it.
Hi Sue, I remember you mentioning this card at the time and the fact you could not bring it back with you. I really like the simplicity of this card and the way you have split the embossed area, leaving a space for stamping the sentiment.
Looking forward to next week.

Hi Sue, well i agree with mom i love the taupes and peaches, which is the main reason i want that 100 sheets card you sell, just for the Taupe in it, lol.....i love what you have done here and it must have taken ages to cut all those little flowers out from felt with scissors, your hands must of hurt afterwards!! but it was worth it if it made something so pretty and ended up being a pressie for mom, now everytime she goes to the fridge for some milk or butter she will be thinking of you, what a lovely thought huh? and great of the pool table shop to give you their leftovers, great upcycle like you said!!! hugs hun, Vick xxxx

Hi sue. Love the dimension and simplicity of this card making it look very elegant and professional ( which is all the time with your creations as you have do much talent lol). Your mom has good taste too I see lol. I know some don't like seeing too many Christmas cards but they are my favourite to make.
