It's Mom's Now!

Hi blog friends!  I have to make an admission that I am running out of non Christmas cards to show you!  Well at least until I am allowed to show you the hundred or so cards that I am tripping over in my craft room that is!  I had completely forgotten about this little card which my Mother decided needed to grace the front of her refrigerator!  I felt like I was back in school when you bring home a pretty picture you made and Mom plasters it on the frig, huh!  She really liked the soft cream, taupe and peachy tones to this card so I granted it to her without question.  I told her that I just had to have a picture of it in case I needed it for my blog (which it turns out that I do!)  I was making this for a sample for one of the shows way back in March or April sometime which featured the embossibilities on it.  This one is called Valor.  I used milk coloured card for the background and stamped my sentiment on it in black.  I decided to emboss the background around it so I did the top half and then repositioned the folder to do the small section on the bottom of the card.  I left the already embossed section hanging out of the folder so it wouldn't get squished going through the machine when I did the smaller section (I hope that makes sense!).  Next I had some left over bits of felt and this is a great way to use them up.  I cut as many circles as I could out of them (I cut them by hand as I did not have a circle nestie with me at the time).  The darker felt was actually some leftover felt that they gave me at a pool table store I wandered in to one day.  They were throwing it out after an installation and I remarked that it was a waste and would make great flowers, so they sent it home with me! Yippee, I love a good upcycle!  I made all sizes of flowers and then just glued a pearl in the centre of them and arranged them cascading down my card.  I cut some of the swirly die out of taupe card from the Heartfelt Bella Rose die set and cut it into pieces to go behind my flowers as an accent.
I did my final piercing around the edge to bring it all together and finished off the card (my Mom stole! LOL)  Oh well, at least it has a good home!  All for now, Sue x

  13. hi Sue, what a stunning card, i can fully appreciate your mum's response to this card, it is lovely, and thankyou so much for the idea. I have been asked to make a number of wedding cards from family members, as my nephew is getting married shortly, and i was beginning to run out of ideas, but a style similar to this would be perfect.

I particularly like how you have embossed the base card to leave a clean space for stamping, will definately give this technique a go. Maybe even now before the day fully starts!

    thanks again.

  140. Oh I have caught up at last.
I am so sorry for being away so long again but that's my life.
Anyway, your mother has excellent taste, I can see where you get yours from now. This card is lovely, so girly and elegant and I can see exactly why your mother wanted to keep it.
