Hello everyone! I hope you were able to stay dry over the weekend. I do recall seeing a small patch of blue on Saturday at one point! I hope today's card will lift your spirits if you weren't able to see the sun at all the past few days. I started by embossing my white background using the Valor embossing folder. I picked a rather bright blue but still close to navy in colour and cut four of the Vintage Lace Accents. I used a small scallop circle on the inside to cut frames out of them. I just wanted to see a bit more of my background through them. I am kind of in love with this particular die from my sets. Usually it is the largest Motif shape that gets the most use, but I just love the laciness that this piece has to offer. So I placed them all over my background as a backdrop to the Labels eighteen die that I used for the focal element. I cut a frame from two of the sizes of labels 18 from white card that had a sticky sheet adhered to it. Once cut, I peeled off the backing paper and micro beaded it. I stamped my sentiment on white card and mounted it behind my frame. I added two sizes of the Nestabling natural pearls in the Labels 18 shape. I love nestabling and would probably use it every chance I get, but they never seem to be in stock for any of my shows. I am going to have to work on that (Note to self)! I cut a small piece of the matching blue card for the bottom of my card. Using my score board, I put vertical lines through it (like on the poinsettia card from yesterday). Yes, I like the look of it and do it probably far too often. I cut a vintage lace border to go across the top of my blue band. I tied a double ribbon out of the offwhite silky crush ribbon and added a small Dazzler to the centre. I decided to use the offwhite colour ribbon rather than the white to help balance the micro beads and the pearls in the focal element. They are clear, but they will slightly change the colour over very light card. I pierced the edges and called it a day! I hope it brings a little sunshine to your day! All for now, Sue x
Blue and white, so crisp and refreshing. I love the sentiment piece with the pearls, so opulent, and my favourite bow.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, I love the fresh crisp look the blue and white creates the Lacy effect really comes through, pretty and elegant at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeletevery elegant. /Think the embossing always makes the card look expensive. Neat idea to cut out the die to see more of the background.
It songs to me .

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, pretty card, classy and elegant what more can you say.
We had a lovely sunny day on Saturday but dull and wet yesterday.
Have a great time in America and see you in August. Happy crafting
Tina x
Nice card showing that the dies don't always have to be layered. Crisp colours are very effective and a bow again!
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, The bow is back, yippeee. This is the first time that I can't decide if I like the card or not. It is not a 'me' card. Love blue and white together, very nautical, but don't particularly like how you have placed them. This card doesn't 'sing' to me, sorry Sue. Love the nestabling pearls and the vertical embossing and also the embossing folder. Beautiful bow, glad the 'bow' is back. Lots of love from Patricia xx
ReplyDeleteLovely! Very elegant!x

You love your microbeads, don't you. I've bought them but haven't used them yet - however, it's only a matter of time......
ReplyDeleteI bet they look fantastic on black as well...
Amazing card!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the lace circles.
Hi Sue, Lovely card again. Very cheerful after a grey weekend and a grey morning here in West Sussex. Helped by the hose pipe ban being lifted! Hugs, Carol S.xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue this card certainly brought sunshine to a very dull day. I was looking through my old embossing stencils and came across one with stripes at the bottom and blank on the top, I have never used it because I thought it was boring. Since you have posted cards that you have used a scoring board at the base I thought I would try it. It is brilliant I used an embossing folder at the top and Voila. I love the colours you've used in today's card also the micro beads another technique I learned from you
ReplyDeleteHugs x
Hi Sue, Love the way you have cut circles out of the vintage lace accents. It changes the shape completely. With Love & Light Theresa. H

Hi Sue
ReplyDeletelove your card, I have just been catching up with your wonderful blog, love all your other cards that you have posted while I have been A.W.O.L. I have been A.W.O.L. for a VERY good reason, I have been painting my new crafting space. It is a wonderful log cabin, with doors that open out in to the garden (can't wait to start crafting out there), just waiting for the new flooring to go in & I'll be in craft heaven.

This is really lovely Sue, I love the simplicity and nice pattern that has been made using the die cuts. Great job! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'll trade our heat wave for your rain and cool temps any day. I can see how this would lift anyone's spirits, though, including those of us who go into a funk when it gets too hot. Nice use of the dies. Good idea to let the background show though. Have they run out of microbeads yet? I think they add a lovely touch and I'm glad you use them.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,gorgeous card! Love the lacy dies! I have the picot edge circle ones from last year & I've got some somewhere in my stash where I cut the middles out. The blue one's that you have done look lovely against the white embossed background. I can imagine them in red or lilac.... I suppose you could put flowers or a topper in the middle of the circles too. I do love those dazzlers, they add a bit of bling alongside with your lovely bows! Lovely card Sue, "Thank you" for the sunshine, love to you & your mom & have a good journey tomorrow xx Love Karen xx
