Be Merry

Good Sunday morning to all!  I have said it before, but I just love this poinsettia!  I think it is probably more to do with my past life as a sales rep for a wholesale plant nursery (17 years of it!)  Every year I sold poinsettias to the local chain stores in California.  I just love all the variety of poinsettias.  They aren't just red, they come in pink and speckled (called Jingle Bells) and they are also sold as "white", which are actually more along the colour seen here, rather than white.  A definite variety for any holiday colour scheme though.  I decided to do an all "milk" coloured card using my favourite Christmas die template.  I began with my background by inking the embossing folder (called constellation) with Antique Linen distress ink on the negative side.  I carefully put my card in on the other side and folded the folder closed and ran it through the GC for a letterpress effect.  This transfers the ink to your embossed background.  It always is a bit splotchy, but I like the way it instantly gives a vintage feel to the background.  I scored a line at the bottom of my embossing and began scoring small lines vertically across the unembossed bottom of the background piece.  I cut out three poinsettias, two with three stacked sizes and the one in the middle had four stacked pieces.  Each piece was inked with Antique Linen before removing it from the die.  I used Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue in the centre to put the flowers together.  I added flatback pearls to the centres of all of them.  I stamped my sentiment with a clear perfect medium pad and embossed with gold powder.  Using one of the small tags from the Vintage Lace Accents,  I cut it out, inked it with Antique Linen and mounted it with foam in the lower corner of my card.  As usual, I pierced the edges to finish it off.  Are you in the mood yet??  All for now, Sue x

Good Morning. Really clean, understated card and I really, really love it. Every card of yours I see I plan to be my Christmas card theme but this is definitely the one I shall use. I have the poinsetta die and did use it last Christmas but I only thought of doing it in red. Milk colour is totally alien to me but very effective.
