Lavender And White Simplicity

Hello my crafty friends!  This card is one of the samples that I made to show off the lovely new edgeability dies.  I chose a lavender and white combination for this card and started by embossing my background with the Valor Embossibility folder.  This gave me a crisp clean patterned background for my focal element.  I cut the Heartfelt Creations oval window to use, not as a window, but as a decorative backdrop for my sentiment.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with Labels 24.  While in the die, I inked it with dusty concord distress ink to accent the sentiment.  I used the die shape to cut a faux nestie out of white to back my sentiment on the window.  I really liked the way it looked together.  I picked two decorative edgeability inserts and added the scalloped cutting edge to cut my side border.  I used the leftover piece to mount up on the very edge for dimension.  I added a lavender piece of card as a background to the border strips for a nice contrast and to add balance.  I cut two identical borders this way and mounted them on the sides of the card.  I added strips of pearls to either side as an accent.  I pierced the card on the top and bottom only this time.  You can see a few of the close ups below too.  I was very happy with the way this came out.  It could easily be done in any colour and the sentiment could be changed to suit whatever occasion you need.  Hope you like it too.  All for now, Sue x

  85. Nice to see a card without your usual big bow and ribbon (although of course i love ribbon and bows) This would be better for posting without the bulk of embellishments but still with mantle piece appeal.

If anyone is reading this i found something out at the weekend as i didnt have any wax paper i rubbed the intricate dies with a tumble dryer sheet (dry) and it worked a treat, the card pieces came out so easily so no more worry about tearing your beautifully cut & embossed pieces! Just make sure you rub the sheet well into the small areas that normally get stuck in the die. Emma

  106. Morning Sue, Another really lovely card - absolutely beautiful AND my favourite colouring! Was just thinking, this is another one that could be made now, right up to the faux nestie but leaving the sentiment off, and put away until needed - when the appropriate sentiment for the occasion could be added in minutes! (Thus preventing the tizz and blank brain mode I get into if presented with an unexpected need for a card!)
Sue (and everyone) I had a lovely surprise when looking through C&C's programme schedules in the early hours (3am actually!) - Spellbinders shows next Friday! Hope it's going to be you, Sue. I'm going to get more blank DVD's with my shopping this weekend. Whoopee! Sue x

  175. Hi Sue,
This is a very pretty card and I love the lace work with the edgeabilities.
No song or dance today as the only thing that came into my mind when I saw today's lovely creation was 'Paper Lace'. They are a group and not a song and they didn't sing about frills or anything relating to this card. They only sang of a possible hero; I believe he was called Billy?! Why, oh why did I write that down, now I can't stop singing it
'Billy, don't be hero, don't be a fool with your life....Billy, don't be......' ok I think you get my drift. It wasn't that bad a song really, but it does tend to stick in your head a bit doesn't it..going round and round and round, till in the end you begin to dislike Billy just a tad and wish you could shoot him yourself (only joking I love Billy honest...) LOL!!
I notice that today you have been elevated to the status of Guru; (Bridget's comment) wow girl you really have arrived now.
So Guru Sue, I will be back to see your awe inspiring works of wisdom & light tomorrow (hee hee hee).
    Hugs Linda x

  192. Hi Sue
What a lovely card. It shows beautifully how versetile (spelling?) the dies are and how by just thinking outside the box you can make some really interesting intricate shapes. I like using just 1 or 2 colours in my cards as I find the effect more dramatic (apart from children's cards when I sometimes go a little colour fabulous). 1 thing I really liked is how you emboss the base card and I feel it really makes thre card pop.
    Thanks again
    Bettie
