Embossed Cross Card

Happy Monday morning!  I had a crazy weekend at Ally Pally and really enjoyed meeting so many of you that check in on my blog each day.  Thank you so much for all your support, it has really been a lifeline for me!  For today's card, I have chosen one that isn't always the easiest card to make, a sympathy card.  I started with a salmon coloured card that I embossed with an embossibility folder.  I inked the edges with Tattered rose distress ink to bring out the pattern a bit.  I used a piece of cream lace from my stash as an accent.  I stamped my sentiment in black then lined up my Labels 24 die so the phrase was off centre.  I cut it out, then added the large cross die to it so it slightly overlapped the sentiment and embossed the design into the background.  I used a bit more tattered rose to bring out the detail in it. You can see the close up below. I cut a faux nestie mat out of milk coloured card.  I made a ribbon rose using my reline tape technique and added it atop one of the beautiful Heartfelt Creations swirls and a shabby chic bow tied from vintage ribbon I scrunched.  I added a couple of crystal stick pins as an accent and pierced around the edge to finish the card off nicely.  Sympathy cards are probably among the most difficult to make because of the emotional aspect to them, but I was happy with the way this one turned out.  All for now, Sue x

  18. Morning Sue. It was lovely to meet you at Ally Pally. I'm sure you were exhausted by the end of yesterday. I helped my 19 year old daughter make her first card on Thursday and she chose to base her card on this one for a 21st card for a friend. It came out beautifully but it only took us 8 hours as she had to re-do some things that turned out wrong and I spent ages looking for materials for her. I definitely need to re-organise my stuff! At a commercial rate, it would cost about £100 given the 'man'power time, lol!

  184. Good evening Sue, what a lovely card for a sad occasion which is always a difficult card to make.
It was lovely to meet you at Ally Pally in the flesh instead of on create and craft. I do enjoy watching you using spellbinders and it was nice to actually see the micro beads properly, thankyou again

  193. Hi Sue,
Although this card has to be sent for a day we would all wish to avoid, you have created something totally respectful but really dreamy. I love it and I started to sing, but I don't know if I want to tell you as it may make me seem older than I am or something ;)
'May each day in the week be a good day
May the Lord always watch over you
And may all of your hopes turn to wishes
And may all of your wishes come true'
Do you remember this? My mum adored the singer of this slightly melancholy song. When I was just a young girl, we often listened to his songs on the 8Track player as we travel around touring the great British Isles, France and Italy.
Ok, I know I have waffled on long enough and delayed the answer, so I'll tell you, but I think you've probably guessed -it's Mr Andy Williams. Didn't he have just a dreamy voice, I often fell asleep listening to him....LOL!! Joke aside, I did actually like him even though I was only about 10years old.
I hope you have started the week well. Regards Linda
