.Hi guys! It's back to frilly and lacy for today's post. This card used a combination of quite a few of my favourite die templates from Spellbinders. For the border, I used lace doily border dies on either side of a strip of card embossed with the lattice embossing folder. I added a messy bow made from lilac vintage ribbon, a couple of crystal decorative stick pins and a fancy crystal button from my craft stash. For the focal element, I cut two of the lace doily accent pieces and mounted them to the left and right of the card. I stacked a teardrop circle cut from aubergine coloured cardstock and then a Holly motif cut from white card. I stamped my sentiment (from Creative Expressions) on lilac card and cut it out with a small teardrop circle. I used dusty concord distress ink while the die was still in the template to create a soft frame for the sentiment. I used the pearl PVA glue to add some accents to the edge of the sentiment piece to complete the card. A fun card that would work with any colour combo and for any occasion with a switch of the sentiment. All for now, Sue x
Gorgeous! I love those elegant die cuts! They are layered so beautifully! The color is beautiful as well!

ReplyDeleteHi Sue, Love this card & the lacy dies. It always amazes me how much difference embossing them makes even though the amount of embossing detail is so small. But then that's what makes Spellbinders that extra bit special over other dies & electronic cutters. With Love & Light Theresa. H

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are well and all is good in your world.
What a lovely idea for framing the sentiment. The underlying lacey motifs and the holly accents completely change the look of the teardrop circle.
There are so many ways to use this card and CASE it. Think of turning the layered focal piece 90% on a larger card. Take away one of the motifs and leave one atop the circle as a 'tiara'- put two lace doily motifs (offset a little) like a crown. Cut off the holly and put another holly motif there also, slightly twisted.... You could go on and on.
This is such an inspirational card today Sue. It has really got my mind working overtime I can tell you. I'd better stop now or it will be an essay again!! ;)
Take care Linda x
i think this is one of my very favourite cards to date..its certainly my fave color combo :)really pretty card Sue x
