Christmas Wishes

Hello there my crafty friends!  I started with a piece of card and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and used Copper Teal Gilding Flakes all over it.  I used a piece of rubit scrubit pad to move the flakes around and refine and remove the excess flakes.  Next, I embossed it with the Stripes embossing folder for background texture.  I cut the outer frame from the Stained Glass Christmas Tree in both black and white.  I used the black die cut as a shadow behind the white die cut.  I cut the middle die out of black card and added it to the outer frame.  I cut the Christmas Tree in black to use as a base then paper pieced the background by cutting it again out of card covered with the same gilding flakes.  I cut the Christmas Tree die again out of white and backed it with a piece of white card.  I used my scissors to cut the Christmas Tree out of the die.  I paper pieced it with green and gold card, then added it back on top of the base die with mounting foam.  I cut the Christmas Wishes sentiment out of a Christmas Wordie sheet and added it above the Christmas Tree.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4"  x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  2. Hi Sue. An absolutely gorgeous piece of inspiration today really beautiful.
So we stayed near my Rheumatology hospital last night so my rheumatology professor can take a look at my neck 'alien' at the request of my ENT surgeon in Bolton before I go to surgery on Monday! The most stressful drive to Shipley I've ever known, so I'm looking forward to getting back home, I shall read through this post again to unwind.
In the meantime I'm sending love to all that visit today xxx

A beautiful card this morning Sue. I can't believe how long it is since I used guilding flakes. But I can remember what a mess I always seemed to make lol. Maybe I might have got better ... Must give it another try. Thankyou Sue

  10. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, absolutely gorgeous, love it, I have been cutting out lots of the stained glass die sets recently, and kept all the fall away pieces so I can do lots of the paper piecing, and using my markers to colour the holly and berries etc. not thought of the gilding flakes, must have a try at that.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  13. Good morning Sue
Beautiful Christmas card! Gilding flakes are one of my favourite mediums particularly this one because I love the flash of teal amongst the copper.

  19. Hi Sue. What a lovely card today. I am afraid I have to agree with Ann Topp, I do tend to steer clear of gilding flakes as I also seem to make such a mess with them, but look at the results I am missing out on, must give them yet another try!
