Hugs & Kisses
Hello there my crafty friends! I created this background using the Bargello technique. I started by cutting strips of card of four different shades of purples. I attached a sticky adhesive sheet to a piece of copy paper (I don't use card for this step as it makes it very thick to die cut later). Once I filled the entire sheet with the four colours of strips butted up next to each other, I used the paper cutter to cut them across the strips so they were then little boxes of colour on each strip. I went back to another piece of copy paper and added a sticky adhesive sheet and began offsetting them to create the checkerboard effect. I used the Noble Decorative Hearts to cut an aperture in the centre (and saved it for another card). I made a frame using the Decorative Heart die out of white card and added it to the aperture with mounting foam. I added a backing piece with a sticky adhesive sheet on it, then added a smaller heart to the centre. I cut the Hugs & Kisses sentiment out of Iris and black card, shadowed it then glued it to the smaller heart. I used the Heart Leaf Flowers cut from a piece of white card covered with a sticky adhesive sheet. I used Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz on the flowers, then seated them diagonally across the card. The card was completed with white mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 3/4" in size. All for now, Sue x
Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh this is beautiful, I love that technique with the strips, is it a while since I used it so will have ago again, good tip about the copy paper too.

Although I vowed I was going to make one special Xmas card per week. 🤐. Let's see how that pans out.? ? ? It's a beautiful card as always . Thankyou Sue.

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue and all. What an absolutely stunning card (though I tend to say that every day, as all of your cards are stunning!). I had not heard of the Bargello technique - and had been puzzling how you did this card when I saw it on the last launch. Some great videos on YouTube for anyone that’s unsure about exactly how to do the technique. Look amazing in the purples too! Take care, Colleen x
