Hi there bloggers! I started with the
Tropical Background for today's card. I cut it out of
Khaki card and used
Forest Moss Distress Oxide ink through the die before removing it to add accents to the leaves. Next I cut a small square using the
Double Stitched Square die set. I added a thin green mat behind it and added it with foam to the centre of the card. I cut the
I'll Stand By You sentiment out of Soft Salmon card and added a black shadow behind before gluing it to the square. I used two of the Flamingos from the
Tickled Pink die set also cut out of
Soft Salmon card. I used a sharpie to colour their beaks black before adding wings and attaching them to the card with foam. I cut a couple of individual leaves using the
Tropical Flora die set and added them to the corner of the sentiment. The card was completed with white and soft salmon mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteHi Sue I love the effect of the tropical background die, just not a lover of such a deep green, nevertheless it's a lovely sample that looks fresh.
ReplyDeleteI may think about trying Saturday's sample but with pixie powders and cling wrap, my only concern is that I won't get enough pattern from the cling film onto the cardstock before I remove it, and the powders on the cling film maybe to wet to transfer over to another piece of card, time to get a piece of cheap card from my numerous boxes of 'bits'
I'll send my love to all and today my thoughts go to Lorraine's family at this sad time xxx
Hello Sue and all
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and happy card, lovely too see the tropical flora that I was lucky enough to win on release and a great sentiment too.
So sad to hear Lorraine lost her courageous fight, love and thoughts to her family and those close to her.
Hugs

A gorgeous card Sue.

Hi Sue, a lovely tropical card, great and unusual colour combo, but it just works. I have just ordered this die set, so this gives me some ideas. Take care and stay safe everyone. Bx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. I love this tropical background as it is so ornate and works really well for when the florals aren't suitable. Love the card too.

I find your tropical dies a lot of fun to use in making my cards. They are so expressive. I think the flamingos take on a personality all their own. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, sorry I have been missing for a couple of days. I have checked out the cards and they are all great. I do like today's almost jungle feel and the flamingos are gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to learn about Laine1972. Her cheeky comments and cat chat have been missed for quite a while now. Sending my sympathies to her family.

I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday when I commented and I will be honest I had not read the comments. I have since read the comments and as you will have gathered Lorraine Eastwood lost her battle with cancer last Wednesday afternoon.
Laine (as she was known on this blog), and I had become really good friends and we spoke every week. She came down to Croydon in September 2016 and we had a fantastic day out to Ally Pally during her stay. The last time I spoke to her was 16th February. Unfortunately it became clear in January that the end was in sight. She had battled incredibly bravely for over 2 years and when she was diagnosed had made the decision not to have any treatment as she had many other health issues. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. I will really miss her x
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteIt's not my favourite card but as always done very nicely

PP- thanks for sharing more about Laine. She will be really missed by many people.
Hugs from Toronto to you all
Stay safe and healthy.

Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card you have given us to feast our eyes on
I’m not sure that I would go for the flamingo die as I would not use it enough to justify the cost
You take care my friend

Hi Sue.
ReplyDeleteLove the flamingo dies, and I found quite a few ways in which to use then. Not as much as you though Sue.
Beautiful card, with that background also.
