On Your Special Day

Hi crafters!  Today's card can be used for so many occasions with an easy change of sentiment, but I love that it could be for someones special day!  I started by cutting an oval shape and embossing it with the Leafy Quad embossing folder.  Next I used a piece of Sky Blue card and cut an oval frame using the Double Stitched Ovals.  While it was still in the ides, I carefully transferred it to the Leafy Quad embossing folder and left the folder open.  I added a rubber mat and several sheets of card to make up for the depth of the folder since I was only using half of it (if you close it, the die will cut into the folder and ruin it!)  Once embossed, I removed it from the folder and inked over the design while it was still in thee dies.  I used Faded Jean Distress Oxide ink and a small smoothie.  I added foam mounting tape to the back and added it to a larger piece of coconut white card.  I glued the white embossed oval down into the centre of it.  I cut the On Your Special Day and inked it with Faded Jeans to coordinate and glued it in the centre of the frame.  I used the Spiral Pearl Flowers and cut them out of vellum and made three flowers.  I mounted them in the lower corner and cut white leaves as accents.  I cut the Beautiful Butterfly out of Sky Blue card and used spray glue over it, then coated it with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz.  I glued it in the opposite corner.  I added three white pearls in both of the other corners.  The card was completed with white and sky blue mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x   8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  2. Hello Sue, a really beautiful card, it is a strange phenomenon, but ovals and circles make such a difference to a card, looks totally different and unusual. Have a good day everyone. Bx

  7. Hi Sue. You wouldn't load this morning maybe you had a lie in too lol anyway I save embossed card for flowers and tags but there are times I love having embossed frames especially on CAS cards so I'm loving your inspiration this morning. I have some gorgeous luxury vellum which cut with some of your floral dies will add that extra something that I hope will add a smile to someone's day. 9. Good morning Sue
It was difficult getting on to your blog this morning! Beautiful card, I love embossing frames it gives your card that extra detail! Only now have I had time to watch yesterday’s video, what a great tip about using two pieces of card to eliminate using the embossing mat. The lustre pastes are gorgeous and tantalising teal is my favourite. Thanks for sharing.

  12. A lovely card, but I had never thought to emboss while still in the die! That way you get that nice plain edge. Thank you for that tip Sue.
Yes you have gremlins in the system today, as others have stated!

  21. Good Morning Sue. This is a classic Sue Wilson's card. And its beautiful...but I would say that wouldn't. I....it's blue and white...my all time favourite colour combinations... and you know what's better....I have all these dies...except for the flower... and I am sure I can find a substitute in my folder of dies. I have quite a few friends birthday s coming up next month and we will be away in Turkey so have to make them before I go. You have done me a great favour as I will be making this for them..with your permission of course. Thankyou Sue. Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds
