Hello all! I've pulled out the gilding flakes for today's card. I started with the background and covered a piece of card with a sticky adhesive sheet. I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with Gemstones Gilding Flakes. I used a piece of Rubit Scrubit pad to refine and remove the excess flakes. I matted it with a thin black mat. Next I cut a smaller piece of milk card for the focal element. I backed it with a thin black mat and added mounting foam to the back to raise it. I stamped the Sophia STDF called Fountain Frame using Flake and Glitter glue on to black card. I added Gemstones Gilding Flakes to it and used the rubit scrubit to move the flake over the image and refine it. I cut it out with the matching Sophia die and mounted it in the middle of the milk card. I cut the inner die section out of black card and layered it. I stamped my sentiment on milk card and cut it out with the inner octagon shaped die from the Sophia die set and added it to the centre with foam. Milk and black mats and layers were used to complete the card. The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. Oooo I love it. I know a few crafters don't like black on their work but these guilding flakes were made to go alongside dark colours, look how they glisten, this Monday sample has all the opulence of a true Sue Wilson design one that only you could do ☺ along with Beverly and Paul plus other mega talented fb members 😆

Love the gilding.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a difference between the straight gilding flakes on the frame and the ones stamped with gilding glue using the Sophia stamp to die for. They almost seem like two different products.
ReplyDeleteIt seems such a shame to scrub the gilding flakes into little bitty bits when big pieces look so lovely. Have you ever used up,a whole jar of gilding flakes? I would think that toward the end, the bits would be so small that it would look like one uniform color.
Wishing everyone well.
Best,
Donita

ReplyDeleteHello Sue and all
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that the same flakes were used on the background and the stamped focal element as Donita said, they look so different and both gorgeous. Like others, I have some gilding flakes and it is so long since I have used them, must be time to get them out again. Thinking about the stained glass Christmas dies ......

Hi Sue, such a dramatic card today. Really must get my gilding flakes out. I was going to tidy my craft/junk room this afternoon but no much point if I'm going to have a 'play'with them. Need to make my sister a birthday card so you have fired up my inspiration. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx Pauline
A gorgeous card. Gilding flakes are like no other.
ReplyDeleteMuriel, I do love your idea of using with the stained glass windows on a Christmas card.
Have a sunny day everyone,

A stunner of a card today using gilding flakes on black card. I do like to accent many of of card designs with a thin black layer. But I have not tried the gilding flakes on black. You have inspired me to use black card the next time I use gilding flakes. My favorite of the gilding flake colors is this Gemstone one. I like all the different colors in this mix of flakes. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Sue. Lovely card today and so very rich looking. I have gilding flakes but they never look like yours do. Will have to keep percivereing as I did with the pixies. Beautiful sample Sue. Sending best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.

Beautiful post and watched you use these gilding flakes on your last show. Just gorgeous and looks very elegant combined with the black.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
Love this card, I think in reality it would show so much colour, love the Gemstone flakes, they are so rich looking. I am home from hospital now and wanting to craft but unable to do so yet, but I will be watching a lot of you tube and catching up with the latest. I have been meaning to ask about the reCAPTCHA- when I 'mark off' say cars it will go on and on and then change to street signs and go on and on and I do not seem to be able to get it to 'verify'. Somedays it will be 10 minutes and then I get sick of it and leave it. Can someone tell me why it does this?
Cheers,

Absolutely love gilding flakes....such a pretty card....luv Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I can't believe I am so late today, I did have a quick peek this morning but then totally forgot to come back and leave a comment! I am blaming it on the heat, not old age lol. I love today's CAS but beautifully opulent card and the contrast between the flakes used for the background and those used with the Sophia STDF. Altogether gorgeous.
