Hi crafters! I just love using the matching Stamps To Die For with my dies and adding some gilding flakes really makes them pop (and it is faster than colouring most of the time too!) Add some micro beads to that and you really have some lovely texture!

Gilded and Beaded Card
Hi crafters! I just love using the matching Stamps To Die For with my dies and adding some gilding flakes really makes them pop (and it is faster than colouring most of the time too!) Add some micro beads to that and you really have some lovely texture!
Micro beads always look lovely on a card. x

Hi Sue. I love the stamps to die for too, so why do I have none ? The trouble is that my gift list is so taken up with dies and I need more embossing folders (3d on order) that I keep forgetting there are matching stamps and it doesn't matter that I don't have the dies that match the stamps or is it vise versa 'the chicken and egg saying' lol I need to learn how to cut an outline so it doesn't look like a child's been playing with it !
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty way to show the stamp and I have two unopened pots of guilding flakes that really need to feel wanted and the folder you have used is just so pretty but doesn't take away the beauty of the focal element. Will look forward to watching you put this together later. (7th day on the run for sun Lancashire) must be an all time record - well since we relocated up here !!
Have a lovely day Sue xxx

ReplyDeleteHello Sue and all
ReplyDeleteVery elegant card today. The 3D embossing folder is lovely and the gilding flakes with the micro beads look fabulous. I only have the stamps that match the flowers, I really must look at the dies I have and do this as my gilding flakes are feeling unloved at the moment too.
Great video thank you Sue

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteSome wonderful textures this morning and those embossed corners are just fabulous - they look like moulded plasterwork and frame the central motif perfectly...
Izzy
What I like best about this card is the embossing folder. I was so happy to see it because it was accidentally sent to me when I had ordered the folder with the big dots made out of little dots. I decided I didn't care enough for the dots to send back the folder I liked better anyway.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it used until now. It's so fabulous! What a lucky bunny I am! (As you guys would say)
That said, the rest of the card didn't have that element of inevitability in your universally loved cards.I found myself wondering you'd try to stamp with gilding flakes? Why scrub all the glorious flake texture off the flake so there's just little bits left? Why cover gilding flakes with beads? And why bead the center when you're just going to cover it up with the sentiment?
Maybe beads over flake is so compelling in real life that I have no idea what I'm saying.
My idea would be to use the gilding flakes maybe under the diecut square and to color the stamp with alcohol or distress markers, use the beads over the colored stamp, or over the sentiment, and maybe repeat the flakes for the oval frame around the sentiment.
But vaguely imagining something is different from actually making beautiful cards and putting them out there, which you do every day. I can express my thoughts as an admiring and thoughtful observer, while also understanding that you had objectives to accomplish, such as teaching us skills, like how to stamp with flake glue and how to mask what you don't want beaded.
So thank you for this very educational card and for inspiring us to follow your recipe or use it as a point of departure.
You used gilding flakes with a stylized butterfly circle recently, and I immediately found it out and bought it. it's nice to know precisely how to stamp with glue.
Very interesting card. Thank you.
Donita
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
Love your card today. As I mainly make square cards good to see rectanglular dies adapted to be make a square.

Lovely card. I do like this embossing folder, it is an ideal one for making a border without using a die. You used what is probably my favourite of the gilding flakes so, if I was to repeat this card, I would leave out the microbeads so the colour stands out rather than being dulled by the beads.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
Hi sue love the embossing on this lovely card it’s very pretty

Morning Sue
ReplyDeleteWow x
Amazing all white card then Wam Bam that amazing pop of glorious colour in the centre of the masterpiece x
Micro beads used to feature much more frequently so they are very welcome in this 'guest appearance' lol x
I am looking forward to watching the video but that has to go on hold for now. Jake is off to France on Saturday morning for a weeks fishing. The whole house needs to revolve round his preparation - obviously!!!! Never mind - the peace and quiet will be worth it. Lol x
Izzy - Bishop Michael was fantastic. One of my highlights was the pure delight on the pageboys face as he held Megan's veil in the doorway. The whole day was so joyful - I found it incredibly emotional x
Sunny day and blue skies again today - sending lots of love to all specially missing friends x

Hi Sue, a lovely elegant card and the 3D embossing folder is indeed stunning. I love using gilding flakes on a stamp but I'm not too sure about the micro beads, they seem to dull the glory of the flakes. I think maybe the still photos don't do it justice because it did look a little brighter in the video.
ReplyDeleteKiraneries - enjoy your holiday in glorious Devon.
Frances
Hi Sue, what a really elegant card and I love the splash of colour.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
Hi Sue, you've reminded me to hunt out my micro beads; they must be somewhere underneath my crafty stash boxes, but which cupboard is a mystery at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI love your 3d embossing folders, but haven't got this one......yet.
Will watch your video later as we are fighting to remove our stair carpet in readiness for the decorators, tomorrow. (Fingers crossed their van doesn't breakdown. )lol
Gorgeous card though. Hugs xx Pauline m
Like the idea but not keen on the dark centre, sorry!

Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteRegal elegance is what you have created here today. The 3D embossing folder really makes a statement on its own but coupled with the stamped image done with gilding flakes and you magic. Add in a die cut and you have the perfect card. Thanks for sharing the video and your techniques.
Have a wonderful day,
Beverly
Hi Sue, WOW What an elegant card this is. I really love it. Hugs Brenda xxx
ReplyDeleteToday I am in the camp that would have left off the micro beads and just let the gilding flakes take the glory. I thought your hinging tip was a jewel and I will remember to use it.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the embossing folder along with another 3D when you did your Hochanda show as you said you couldn't stop using it but I have not used it....I must catch up. I loved seeing it in action.
Pauline, my flooring people did have a wreck on their way to our house a few years back (no injures) so I will not laugh.
