Hello bloggers! Here's a quick and easy card for you! I started with a piece of coconut white card. I used Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides direct from the pad to the card in a random pattern all over the background. You can easily use the edge of the pads to lay down ink all over the background and it will give you an interesting effect. I recommend starting with the lightest colours first, working to the darker colours and it looks nice to have a little bit of the white card showing through too. I used a gold paint pen around the edges as an accent and then tapped the pen over the card to add gold splatter dots too. I cut my sentiment out of the very centre of the card so it would match my background, but would be covered when the card was complete. Next I cut the Summer Rose Frame twice out of coconut white card. I cut away the smaller rose corner and kept the two identical corners with the larger roses. I added mounting foam to the backs to raise them then mounted them together to create a larger frame. I cut the smaller frame from the Summer Rose Frame die with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet on it. I made a thin frame for it using the two outer cutting edges and peeled the backing off and added it to the shape. I also added the sentiment ct earlier to the middle of it then coated all the remaining exposed areas with Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz, then mounted it in the centre of the frame. The card was completed with white on white mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8 1/4" in size. All for now, Sue x
Good morning Sue

Amazing card!!
ReplyDeleteTerrific background sets the focal point off really well
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Nice to see a quick and easy sample that we all need at some point for that last minute order etc. The only trouble is that I always seem to over think even the quickest of cards which then turn into a major catastrophe so something like today's sample is just what I need to calm an over thinking brain down lol. Your 2018 festive collection are filtering through the internet already !!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day whatever your plans and where ever you are xxx
Hello Sue and all
ReplyDeleteFabulous card great colours, I do like the sentiments cut out of the background - love to do this with the pixies too

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue
ReplyDeleteIt may be quick and easy but oh how it packs a punch x
The colours are magnificent and the contrast of the white frame is truly stunning.
The Summer Rose frame is such a beautiful frame. If was given to me as a gift but I will confess to not having used it yet as my card making activities have been rather non existent. I definitely need to remedy this 'never been used situation' and this card is the perfect starting point x
I have now seen your new Festive Collection and once I had realised they had been let loose on the majority of websites I spent a lot of time admiring them. The imminent launch is going to be glorious causing excitement, which is already reaching new levels, to go into complete overdrive x
It is only May and I always refuse to let any part of the Christmas hype to grab hold of me until I feel the festive season is within touching distance. Well that is until you manage to push my principles to one side with this amazing new collection of 'precious metal'!
I think I should stop my ranting - hooray I hear you cry. Sending lots of love to all specially missing friends x

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous background, love the colours and the twinkly gold splatters which show up so well in the close-up shots - the Summer Rose frame stands out really well against all that busy-ness and I also love the little touch of bling on the sentiment panel too...a great card!
Izzy
Morning Sue, bring on the bling. Roses are my favourite flower. Short and sweet comment today. Still entertaining the decorators, then it's shopping day. Yuk! Hugs Pauline xx
ReplyDeleteLove the background
ReplyDeleteLovely simple card. I must try this colour combination as the pinks & oranges work so well together, however whenever I try & put the ink direct to the card I get lines! Will have to give it another go. Thank you Sue.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, Lovely card. love Jean Z xxx
ReplyDeleteWowie now that's a card! Xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteLove the background although I only possess one distress oxide so I won't be able to recreate it. The new festive collection looks amazing.
Love and hugs to everyone
Pat
Wow, stunning colours Sue. And I love the sentiment cut from the same backing.
ReplyDeleteSteady rain here today, so I think a session in the craft room is called for!
Hugs, Ruth
Lovely card and unusual colours. I only have four oxides which I bought to try, but at almost £7 each I would rather buy dies.
ReplyDeleteHugs Helen xx
Love the background. I haven't any of the oxide inks yet as I am hoping they bring out the small pads. A very effective cards, Sue.

Hello Sue, a really lovely card, the background colours are gorgeous and what a great idea to cut the sentiment from the middle, so that you have an exact match. Have a great day everyone. Bx

Hi Sue, a lovely card. The roses stand out from the colours of the background.
ReplyDeleteHello Sue,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, I love how you have created this lovely background.
Hugs Brenda xxx
That background is a winner! Who knew we could make our own custom colors of card stock.
ReplyDeleteI skipped the pads and just bought all the reinkers, figuring I could finesse a workaround pad if I really needed one.
Now that the festive cat is out of the bag, I'll have to go look.
Happy Friday, everybody.
Love,
Donita
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteLovely card today. Love the mix of pink and orange background. I also just get some lines if I use an ink pad direct, so always use a blender. Wasn’t able to get in throughout the week.
Apparently from the comments from other bloggers your 2018 Christmas collection is out. I don’t usually read other people’s but that just caught my eye.
Lovely card and I love the background The splatter of gold is a clever idea I’m going to try with blues/purples/greens and silver too!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. What a really lovely card today. Love how you have made the background, a great display of colour, you don't have to do too much else to create a card and your simple frame is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
I like the design but I am not so are about thebackground colours although it could be my iPad not showing them well.

ReplyDeleteThe background is so very different, Sue!! The distress oxides seem to have such an intense colour.....I think they will have to go on my wishlist! Jo xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunner of a card, the colour is right up my street. I've got some distress oxides and certainly won't stop there....

Love your background on this card. Like that it is so straight forward but it is still your little extras like the splattered gold and sparkles that make it special!

Lovely card. Super idea to cut the sentiment from the background for a truly coordinated look. Seems so obvious when you tell us but I wouldn't have thought to do that.
ReplyDeleteTake care everyone.

ReplyDeleteI think ur background colours are really great it’s a very sweet card
Sorry if my posting has gone through more than once having getting it to post

I really am impressed with this card. I love that it seems more difficult than it actually sounds to make and I loved that you used the larger rose corners for a twist on the original die. Very pretty card and a good one for different recipients with altered sentiments.
