Best Husband

Hello crafters!  I have a nice shadow box card for you today, great for the guys in your life!  I started by cutting the Christmas Shadow box in mocha card.  I added mounting foam to the back of the sections to raise it.  I cut a background for it using tan card and the inside of the Stitched Pegboard Frame.  I attached the shadow box over it  to give it that man's workshop look.  I cut a square frame for it out of milk card using the Stitched Pegboard Frame too.  In the upper section, I used the In The Tool Box dies and added the hammer and nails, colouring the hammer head and nails with a silver paint pen.  I added the tool box in the largest section and filled it with a drill, hammer, and wrench.  The level was cut out of red card and I added a wrench into the box with it.  The sentiment was added to the upper section with the pliers ho;ding the tail end of the the word Best!  Milk, tan and mocha mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine, I hope Andrew is getting the help he needs now that he is in hospital. I know how worried you all will be but honestly he is in the best place to help him. Please try to take care of yourselves during this worrying period, Andrew needs you all to be strong. You have so much support from this blog, Andrew is very close to our hearts as are you, you are never far from my thoughts.
Myra, please pass on my good wishes to Maureen if you get a chance.
Update on Dave, he was a lot better yesterday, still won't drink water but will drink milk, I think he thinks he is a cat, the vet was happy with his progress.
Work continues to be freezing, but one of our HO,s was walking about yesterday in a sleeveless silky vest top, aaaargh.
My Christmas tree was dismantled and packed away yesterday, back to normal now, thanks to Kelly and the twins, don't know what I would do without her.
Stephanie glad to hear you have heat again, hooe Myra gets her boiler sorted soon.
Take care everyone, keep warm and well. My warming basket if hugs is open again, Helen take as many as you and hubby need. Thinking of poorly and missing friends and their families.

  3. Hi Sue. I loved this DIY collection right from the get go at launch such a brilliant idea for anyone that loves tinkering, works daily with these tools or is cajoled into getting their toolbox out to 'bodge' a long standing project - bribery always works well too lol but for whatever reason this is a fan set that I need desperately so now my birthday and Christmas has passed I now know what I can treat myself to. I'm loving today's sample and the more cards I see made with these dies the more I love them. Paul (SW Facebook group) has made the most fab card using the waste from cutting these dies which shows just how versatile this set is and just how many ways they can be used. I'm really hoping that we will see more of these hobby/work related dies during 2018 as they are worth their weight in gold to many that love and collect your dies - fingers crossed ☺
Sending much love and hugs to you today and thank you for this fantastic inspiration xxx

  7. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, this is such a lovely sample and the dies from these sets really are amazing, I have made a few cards using these and everyone I am very, very pleased with, the embossed detail from the dies is amazing, all I needed was the silver pen (which I got on line) and the rest was easy, in fact I tried cutting the silver mirror and then adhering this to the handles etc. but to me it looked just as though I had not finished it off correctly but with the silver pen it is perfect. A card suitable for the handy woman as well.

Pam I reiterate all you have said, pleased that Dave seems to be on the mend, just listen out that he doesn't start to meow..... Our decs. will come down tomorrow, superstition - will seem very different when they come down but only another 343 days until they are up again. No news on heating part then, why do these things always take so long. I have been waiting over a week for a new remote control for out TV/Broadband they said a couple of days, well looks like another phone call is required.

Elaine, my thoughts are with you all, as Pam said Andrew is in the best place and he will be looked after and the treatment started hopefully. We are all here for you xx

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Our best friends who we go out dancing with for an example....her husband is a real D.I.Yer. always in his little shed fixing things.... and the sentiment could be changed to include all the male species.
Pam glad to hear your little Dave is on the mend. Plenty of cuddles and he will be back to normal I am sure.

A very smart card with all the tools so neat and orderly - and so unlike the man in my life, who also has a toolbox but can never find the tool he needs on the rare occasions when he does do any DIY...lol...never mind, I can still admire your card although I didn't know there was a Christmas Shadow Box - or did you mean Celebrations?...I've just recently bought that one and am loving it...so useful to fill them with bits and bobs.

  53. Good Morning Sue and Everybody Here,
I think this card is so adorable. I love all the small, intricate parts. I just received my Christmas bundle of SW dies and I got the BBQ set which will take care of my male family birthday cards coming up next month. The Daughter Inlaw posted an Instagram picture of my crazy son grilling in Montana in sub zero temperatures & snow! My BIL brought great smoked chicken wings at Christmas and my hubby likes to grill when he has the time. I need one for my son inlaw and he also cooks out a lot. Great set for us but I love this one too and most of the guys can repair things (not sure about my son). I have it on the wish list.
Pam, I really feel for you. I don't even feel like going outside and that is in South Carolina! I skipped my stamping play date yesterday. This surely will pass and we will be back to normal winter temps next week. Bundle up, and I hope that part comes in today.
Elaine, we are all thinking about your family. I hope that Andrew is more comfortable.
Everyone, stay safe, warm, and get in some crafting on these cold days. I broke out the Pixies yesterday!

  54. Dear Sue and All the Ice Wilsonettes,

I'm tempted to show this sample to my woodworking Dad and nephew and handy ma'am sister because we're all here this weekend at Dad's house in Illinois, but then they won't be surprised when I send one to them.

I started to post last night -- 6 a.m. your time is only midnight here -- but I fell asleep at the controls. If you got a comment that was just drool, that was me.

My mother had stashed in her basement, since at least 10 years ago, a long tube that said "Paper for Donita" with a heart. Inside were full sheets, 25 by 38ish inches, of washi and mulberry paper. A lifetime supply! I'm cutting up not even a quarter sheet of one washi to make panels for the fronts of 24 thank you notes. Beautiful in itself.

Maybe I could do a torn panel of mulberry paper under a white die cut, like Victoria, or the center of Holly Lattice, Noelle, Peony Diamond, Ella and two middles from the collection, which is all I brought. Did I tell you that my Cuttlebug did come to the attention of TSA, which left a printed slip in my bag saying they had looked through it.

Stay warm and well. Treasure the time you have with loved ones, or even yourself and the wonder of this earth and all its trees and sky.

A life well lived is long, as they say, to which I add, although some of us need extra time. I'm glad Andrew's pain will be monitored and managed.

    Love,
    Donita

  56. Hi Sue, I love this card and think it is perfect for all the tradesmen & women and DIY'ers out there. I love all the tools from this set but sadly it is not one that I have as I couldn't justify the cost as I would not have the call to make many cards on this theme. Never mind, I shall just enjoy seeing any samples that you show us.

Running a little late today as I have spent my time packing up Christmas. Not only do the walls now look bare I can see where lots of cleaning needs to be done! It can wait until tomorrow lol

Izzy - there is a Christmas Shadow Box, it was in the Festive Collection June 2016. As you would expect from Sue there is a tree with everything to decorate it - baubles, a cracker, a present, a candy cane and a tinsel swag plus several other Christmassy items. I love it.

Elaine - missing you, hope that everything is ok.

I love this card , however , although I have a husband who in my opinion is the best, DIY kind of defeats him! No it completely defeats him!
However all the little intricate Dies which are so perfect could easily be mixed and matched with other sets! That’s the beauty of your Dies!

Elaine - I’m so glad Andrew has managed to have a laugh! It says a great deal about your lovely son! Yes, he is in our thoughts and prayers and yes, we care! Keep fighting Andrew! Love to you all! X I like Carmen’s choir of prayers! It doesn’t matter if you are a little off-key , keep praying!

    Have yo thawed out yet!

Please don’t worry as we have heating ! It’s just that our Condensing Boiler has been inclined to freeze because of the strong cold wind blowing in its direction! I’ve been trying out some Heath Robinson ideas on it much to the amusement of some friends!! It’s fine now!
