Good Sunday morning all! I found this one in one of my older files, but I liked the relative simplicity of it so I thought I would share it today. I started by covering a piece of acetate with a sticky adhesive sheet. I turned the acetate over and sponged on Flake and Glitter glue and waited for it to turn clear. Once it was ready, I coated it with Persian Dawn Gilding Flakes and used a rubit scrubit to refine them and remove the excess. Next I turned the piece over and removed the backing paper from the adhesive sheet and coated it with clear microbeads. It gave an interesting look as you can see the gilding through the acetate and the micro beads. I matted it with a piece of black card. Next I cut two of the Geneva outer die, one in silver and one in black. I used the black die cut as a shadow behind the silver one. I added mounting foam to the back and attached it to the background, adding glue for extra hold. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags and tucked the end under the oval frame. I used the Classic Rose die set to make two 3D flowers out of silver card. I seated them at the end of the sentiment with Lace Edged Leaves, tulle and black jute as accents. I completed the card with white and black mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.

Beautiful Sunday card Sue, it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all comment game winners.
Elaine, hope Andrew us much improved after his treatment, the sickness is the awful part, it used to upset my dad so much. You are having fun with Maureen planning this Zimmer parade/race, something to see I'm sure.
Maureen, trust you to be sedate and ladylike, your inactivity is causing your mind to run riot. So happy to hear how cheerful you are.
Marg, hope your CT scan goes well, migraines are dreadful and still people class them as headaches till they too get them.
Norah, hope you are well, after looking after little Harry, grandmas never want to miss out with their little ones even if they suffer afterwards.
I've had a relaxing weekend knitting hats fir Romanian children, let's see what next week brings. My constant thanks for all of your kind words and support, you are my grounding, my rocks and my friends, love you all.
Daily hugs to all, poorly friends and especially all our missing friends.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a pretty card today, as you say elegant, and look at that rose it is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteI reiterate everything that Pam has said above.
Congratulations to all the winners x
Went to the Create it show at Detling yesterday and had a brilliant time, there were over 50 exhibitors with lots of bargains, plenty of room in the isles to get around, lots of seating areas to rest those weary legs (although I was in my scooter), was in the audience of the first TV show. I was watching John Lockwood demoing and a lady came up and spoke to him, we were saying how much we like your dies Sue and this lady gave me one of your new die sets that I didn't have, she would not take any money for it, she said she had a duplicate, how kind people are. Hope to have a relaxing day today.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
Happy Sunday to you Sue. I have very little to say about today's sample compared to my usual post. It's simplicity is calming the background and floral element adorable and not over powering, it really is a lovely pretty sample Sue. The guilding flakes you have used is one I have but not yet had the confidence to use which is such a shame as they look so beautiful shimmering away in their pot, maybe one day 😐
ReplyDeleteHope you are having an enjoyable weekend, sending love n hugs your way 🌹 xxx
Hi Sue, lovely pretty card this morning, understated but beautiful. The roses are gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the three winners , enjoy your prizes! Debra x
Dear Sue and Friends,
ReplyDeleteJust this week I pulled out that Geneva oval! Decided against it but have a die cut now to use later. This card has a lot of class. I bet the microbeads make the gilding flakes look like water is running over them.
In looking at yesterday's card, I see what's wrong with my chrysanthemums. They look like spiders because I curled them down instead of up. Duh.
Congratulations to the comment winners. If I may change my mind, P in Wales, and join the party in saying well done! Maybe it doesn't make sense for a drawing, but it does celebrate the person's happiness and success. You've won me over.
I spent a week making a Mother's Day card but I'm having regrets. Might switch to something simpler. And without spiders.
Love,
Donita

A very elegant card. I agree that it is good to see a blast from the past occasionally and this one was worth bringing out. Love the background, I tried it once at one of Julia's workshops and don't understand why I have never repeated this effect again.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
Good morning Sue and the Wilsonette,
ReplyDeleteI like the style of this card Sue and with those beautiful roses on it just finishing it off a treat. Ehhh, i'm a wee bit miserable and cut the flat bits of the acetate from the protective covers that they come in. I can't get them out and back in them when i have used them so it seems an awful waste of good quality acetate, so all that goes in the recycling is the roundy bits. I find that if it is not the full front of the card that i am wanting covered them using one of my "freebies" bits of acetate works fantastically. See told you, miserable to the last but it just seems an awful waste if i leave the covering intact to go to the recycling, but hey your knew i am a Scot, ;-DDDD. Thank you flower for such a nice design that without the tulle, would be nice for a man as well even with those stunning roses.
Well after a horrible day yesterday we have the sun shining once more across the Central Region of Scotland today. My hills are so clear in clarity once more that you can see all my nooks and crannies that make up their magnificence, even if there is that tad touch of grey in bits of the those white clouds. I hope that wherever you all are that it is as beautiful.
Maureen, Elaine, what are you trying to do to me, make me crazier than i normal? I was quite sane until i met up with that Maureen (and if you believe that). I think for Pam to sit on the front of the handlebars we would need to make a seat that she could be strapped into and a blindfold so that she wouldn't be nervous of our driving. It's nice to see that your humour has not deserted you where you legs did Maureen, although i know that you like to match as well but i really wouldn't go for the matching look in the hip department flower, i don't think George would survive it? I hope that he is doing ok though, but he will be missing David some what so give him a hug from me and please be kind to him, ;-D
Elaine, knitting is a wonderful invention that helps get through a lot of things both stress wise and otherwise. The baby unit never get enough of these wee delicates for their wee scones that are trying so hard to survive, so they appreciate these tender handmade gifts so much. When i was expecting Kirsten i was in and out of SRI for weeks at a time so Mum kept me going with my wool from my stash as it was a nightmare for me having to sit and do nothing when i was so used to working so many hours in the day. I had a lovely pile of wee boys clothes made up for my wee boy coming, for him to turn into a her and i had to start again. She would have made a brilliant footballer going by her kicking when inside of me. Anyway flower it allows you to concentrate on something else for a wee bit while, your Andrew will get there i hope, it's just going to take longer than originally planned. Sending hugs down.
Pam, the knitting will keep your hands busy flower and do so much good for kiddies that really need that wee bit help and thoughtfulness. As for my wee horror comic, he is really a Papa's boy and can't understand why Papa can't lift him, so tomorrow night should be fun when he comes to stay again because Campbell normally lifts him up to his bed. Glad that you've had a better weekend though flower and i hope that you get that feeling to be allowed to carry on through the week. Hugs winging your way.
June flower, there are some really lovely people in this world who are kindness themselves, enjoy your new die and because of it's origin, it will always bring a smile to your face that their are kind people in this world. Glad you had a good time at the show and that there were some good buys to be had. So i will send hugs to all the lovely Wilsonettes that need, could do with or just want, they are yours,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)

WOW! Such an interesting mix of mediums on this card. Lots of microbeads, too. I bet this card is heavy from the beads. Thank you for sharing yet another technique using other mediums that work so well together making a beautiful card design.

ReplyDeleteJune what a lovely lady to give you her duplicate die, there are some lovely people in the world, and most of them are crafters.
Congratulations to todays winners.
Just be careful these these walkers ladies, we don't want any more mishaps.
Take care everyone, Jess xxx
Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteLove the elegant card today, sometimes less is more.
Pam, hope you are well today. It's been an exciting day here. I came downstairs by myself and walked halfway up the street and back with my granddaughters using the zimmer with the seat. I am feeling almost human but of course many people would disagree with that. I see a Fracture Consultant tomorrow to find out if I am as wonderful as I think I am ha ha.
June, there are some very kind people about, look at the mad 8 who put up with me!!! By the way, did you get the name and address of the very kind die lady - I'd like to write her a begging letter ha ha.
Elaine, I thought very carefully about where Pam could sit, and in the front to take the worst of any impact seems like a good idea to me lol. (Just kidding Pam - maybe!!!) It's Norah we have to watch out for!!!
Donita - Spider Woman!! Keep them for Halloween, what a good idea, I'll have to try turning the petals under.
Congratulations to the comment winners.
love to all who are poorly or lonely and their carers.
